Big E Langston or Ahmed Johnson?

Big E Langston is the current WWE IC champion. He brings new life to the title and the belt looks great on him. Big E as the IC champion is kinda reminiscent of former WWF superstar Ahmed Johnson. This comparison is not just because both men are african-american but both men are and were the WWF/E IC champion. Ahmed was the first african-american to win the great IC title back when it meant something, while Big E is the current IC champion.

Sure Big E has the WWE's poster child John Cena backing him up backstage with the politics, so in that sence Big E Langston is a "John Cena guy". And it seems like the WWE is also really behind Big E's recent push. While you had Ahmed Johnson winning the IC, tag teaming with Shawn Michaels during Shawn's first run as the WWF champion, and was in the seat to become a main eventer. But the problem with Ahmed Johnson that he was an injury prone. Being an injury prone was what kept him out of the main event scene when the Undertaker was on top as the WWF champion at the time. And the only real person who supported Ahmed Johnson backstage with the politics was Michael Hayes.

Big E still has alot to learn after his first year in the WWE. He's still a little green in a few area's in the ring. But if you had to choose between the two, who do/did you see as the better star, IC champion, and wave of the future in wrestling?

I would pick Ahmed. Was a big fan of his during his run. It's unfortunate that he had so many injury problems because I believe he would have no doubt been a main event player.
While I like Big E and think he will have a good career at this moment he lacks the charisma that Ahmed had. Ahmed seemed to have shown up at the perfect time. During the time of the small guy run of Shawn and Bret Ahmed was the opposite and that's probably why I liked him.

Anyway, ahmed johnson was just pure shit. The only reason he was given the IC belt and any kind of push is that so Vince would look smart crowning a first black IC champ. And because he was a rmeathead which got Vince harder than anything else

I think it's way too early to compare Langston to anyone yet because again, the only reason he has the title is because he is a BIG AND BLACK guy who is actually friends with john cena.

Which is something WWE has been looking for in a while. Big, Black, has the seal of approval from Cena

Way to early to tell. But Langston will never be more over than Ahmed was. Ahmed's theme was nice look was nice finisher was sick, and he was in some serious feuds. Wasn't for injuries who knows Ahmed surely would have been WWF champion. The above poster stated that E has brought new life to the ic title, how? What has he done since winning it.

I've gotta give the edge to Langston for his suh-stuh-stuttering gimmick. After hearing him for a few minutes at the cuh-cuh-commentary table, I wondered why he is not already the WWE Unified Champion, cutting promos left and right about anti-bullying and why racism is bad. Ahmed Johnson on the other hand... I can't recall him ever opening his mouth. This might be a bit of confabulation on my part as I filter out boring gimmicks from my mind to clear room for more boring gimmicks from the WWE. Yet, it brings to mind the old adage that children are to be seen, not heard.

Wow outside of Mack Swagger on here,people are really not that high on Big E! Ahmad was a decent IC champion,he had a great look and his pearl river plunge finisher was okay! Big E has the Crowd behind him Big E just looks intimidating and very fierce.. The guy is a badass and i believe he has future champion written all over him.

Yes,he is a little green in some areas but man he is catching on very fast. Very athletic and quick for someone his size.. He does indeed breathe new life into the IC title and i look forward to him having the belt past WM

Ahmed had a lot of potential but also a lot of bad luck with injuries. I thought when he turned heel and joined the Nation that it would lead to big things for him. If I remember correctly he was scheduled for a title match vs Taker before he got injured again and that was the last I remember of him.

Big E is still really new, and while I really like him I think he's getting pushed too quickly, which is giving me bad memories of Ryback. Hopefully they don't make the same mistake again.

Anyway I would pick Big E over Ahmed. I'm pretty sure Big E is legitimately stronger then Ahmed was and he's definitely more agile. There's lots of time for Big E to grow, so in time Big E should be better in the ring then Ahmed was. He just needs to stay healthy and he has a very bright future ahead of him.

No no, it isn't only a comparison because they're big black guys. Langston is waaay more talented and actually deserves the IC title. Langston is a better athlete and is getting better every day. He's got a lot of upside with those two traits. Having Cena in his corner is just a plus.

Holy Crap this is what I too would have posted. As soon as I saw the thread and I'm sure everyone else instantly thought this is only because they're both big and black and IC champs. But IMO Big E> Ahmed Johnson. And he will have the career to prove it

I never liked Ahmed Johnson. If I remember right he was pretty popular though. He just never did it for me. I think Langston has some potential. Neither of them does a great promo, and so far I think Langston is far better in the ring. It is kind of early to compare though.
