TNA's biggest ppv event of the year takes place this Sunday. There might be a couple of additional matches put on the card that night that haven't been announced, but I thought it'd be fun to just see what everyone thinks will happen.
Mickie James vs. Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne vs. Winter - I can't say that I particularly care about this match but it could have some solid action, or it could be one big cluster. I have a feeling it'll be one or the other. Mickie James is still the only real star in this match, or the Knockout Division in general, so I won't be surprised if she retains. That being said, TNA has played hot potato with the Knockouts Title for a while so another meaningless change is certainly a possibility. I'm going the route of an upset, however, with Velvet Sky winning her first TNA Knockouts Championship. Velvet is one of the most over Knockouts on the roster and she's been something of a dark horse in this match I think as most of the attention seems to have been put on the other three women. Winner: Velvet Sky
Mexican America vs. Ink Inc. - I'm expecting a decent, though generally unremarkable match here. I'm not really invested in either team at this point, which is a shame as they're the only two really relevant teams in TNA at this point in time. Ink Inc. has been MIA for months now so having them just suddenly come back and take the titles in their first match back doesn't seem likely. I expect tons of interference from Sarita & Rosita and more than a little incompotence from the ref with MA ultimately retaining. Winners: Mexican America
Austin Aries vs. Brian Kendrick - This should be a fun, energetic match that I'm predicting will end in a victory for Austin Aries. I know some people are into Kendrick but the guy does nothing for me and I'd like to see Aries move on. He's really the only true standout in this revamped X Division and taking the title from him and putting it back on Kendrick would be a mistake in my view. I'd say this match will be fast paced and competitive with Aries getting the win around the 15 minute mark. Winner: Austin Aries
Kurt Angle vs. Bobby Roode - Quite possibly the most anticipated TNA World Heavyweight Championship match of 2011, I see these two trying to put on a Cena vs. Punk type of match with both guys giving it all they've got in a 30 minute, or longer, clinic. I don't look for Kurt Angle to lose the title, however, when it's all said and done. There's going to be tons of interference here I think and it might take away from the match. There's almost certainly going to be a ref bump taking place as well. I look for Cowboy James Storm to ultimately cost Roode the win by turning on him. Last Thursday, Roode won his match against Storm partially thanks to some interference from Kurt Angle so the seeds for a potential betrayal were sewn. On top of that, it seems that every episode of IW has at least 2 or 3 guys all telling Roode that he's going to be the next champ, so the possibility for Roode to lose is definitely there. Winner: Kurt Angle
Rob Van Dam vs. Jerry Lynn - There's been very little build up for this match, but I believe that TNA is counting on the nostalgia factor here. RVD & Jerry Lynn have had a storied rivalry in ECW and they meet in Full Metal Mayhem this Sunday. There'll be blood, there'll be the usual RVD & Lynn offense and there'll be a lot of "ECW" chants among the fans. I'd say the match will go somewhere around 20 minutes with RVD coming out with the win. I'm sure the match will be entertaining, but I don't particularly care about it. No matter what happens, RVD will still be the star and Lynn will forever be in his shadow. Winner: Rob Van Dam
AJ Styles vs. Chrisopher Daniels - Basically, take just about everything I said about RVD vs. Lynn and apply it here. It's another storied rivalry but this won't be your typical Styls vs. Daniels encounter. As it's an I Quit match, there'll be a lot more ground stuff, weapons, submission holds, etc. than what we're probably used to seeing. Styles already has a loss to Daniels this year at a ppv and Styles is going to pick up the win here to even things out. Again, just like RVD & Lynn, no matter what happens here, Styles will still be the star and Daniels will still be playing second fiddle to him. Winner: AJ Styles
Sting vs. Hulk Hogan - This is the match I'm looking forward to the least. Over this weekend at an event in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Hogan said that he wouldn't be taking any bumps in the match. So this match is going to be a no DQ grudge match. Basically, it's going to be no holds barred and I expect it to be an absolute cluster. Half the locker room is going to empty in this match I think. Immortal is gonna be out there trying to help Hogan win, Fortune and other faces are gonna be out there to help Sting and it's just going to be one big brawl. I expect Hogan's offense will consist mostly of punches and maybe hitting Sting with some sort of weapon on occassion whereas Hogan himself won't take any sort of major offense. He won't get hit with chairs, he won't be suplexed or slammed on concrete, probably won't take any back bumps either. Since Hogan has reportedly signed a new deal with TNA, it won't surprise me if he walks out with the win here. But, I'm predicting Sting to win and he'll turn the company back over to Dixie Carter. Winner: Sting
Overall, I think BFG will be a fun ppv with several really good matches on the card. I'm expecting some typical heavy overbooking in a few matches and maybe a downright clusterfuck in a few.
