Ruthless-RKO

F*ck Friends, Rather die wiv ma AK!
WWE held 11 Unforgiven ppv's, one under the IYH name, but nonethless, ran for 11 years and provided some great matches, aswell as some rather boring matches...

What I want to know is, out of the lot, what has got to be you favourite match to have taken place at Unforgiven?

Best match
I would have to say 2006, Cena vs Edge for wwe champion, it was a tlc match aswell, edge bragging he dominated these types of matches, but the true man won. A great battle, i gotta say, i stopped watching wrestling from 2005 - 2007, when i heard this match, i watched it and yes it was great.

honourable mention
1999 - Triple H vs. The Rock vs. Kane vs. Mankind vs. The Big Show vs. The British Bulldog in a Six-Pack Challenge for the vacant WWF Championship

2001 - Steve Austin (c) vs. Kurt Angle for the WWF Championship

2003 - Christian (c) vs. Chris Jericho vs. Rob Van Dam in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship

well, there is what i believe was the best match of Unforgiven ever...

What's Yours??

Unforgiven was the first ever WWE PPV I ever saw, so you know I was pretty bummed to see it go down.

Well In my opinion, it was the last one on with the Championship scramble, I didn't expect Chris Jericho to come out at all due to the giant beating he was given by Michaels earlier in the night. It was also the introduction to the championship scramble.

Another good one was in 2007 where Mark Henry fought returning Undertaker in the main event. The feud wasn't really of great interest, but and Henry was stale, but seeing Undertaker come back and kick some ass brought a smile to my face. Plus, that was my first WWE ppv, and I have been ordering every WWE ppv ever since (Except Summerslam 2008, I was on vacation, I barely got to see it last year too).

And lastly, I think in 2004 with Triple H facing Orton with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line was a really great match. Coming out of revolution time, Orton was still in attempt to make a name for himself, and I remember the Evolution storyline being one of the greatest, particular that moment with the thumbs up to a thumbs down, and Batista slamming Randy down to the ring. Great stuff back then.

There are two that come mind. The first was mentioned in the original post. Cena vs. Edge from 2006 was a great match. It was a great way to end their big feud and started Cena's year long title reign.

Next I would pick Kurt Angle vs. Chris Benoit from 2002. This wasn't their best match, but it was very good. These two never failed to deliver a great match with each other.

When I think of Unforgiven, one match comes to mind for me: Kane vs. Undertaker in the Inferno Match in 1998. For me, this match is better than WrestleMania XIV because while it didn't have the novelty of the first match between the brothers, it added a lot in terms of psychology to the encounter. I cringed when I saw Kane and Undertaker ever so close to the flames. Even in a staged profession like wrestling, one false move could have caused someone to be burned. The spot where Undertaker jumps over the flames onto Vader and Kane was sick, wicked, and awesome.

My other favorite match would probably be Matt Hardy vs. Edge in the Steel Cage. There was so much real life animosity between the two going into their feud. Plus, they had just come off the insane street fight on Raw where Matt and Edge did the spot off the stage onto the electrical system. So, there was a lot of momentum going into the match, which they didn't waste. My favorite moment from the match is probably the big leg drop off of the cage by Hardy, but I also "marked" out when Hardy delivered the Twist of Fate to Lita. Great match.

Matt Hardy Vs. Edge in the Steel Cage was great. I was hoping this feud would deliver a some wicked matches. The feud got off to a terrible start, but the lead-in to this match and the match itself were gold. Twist of Fate on Lita, awesome. Leg drop off the top of the cage = Markout. Too bad they didn't capitalize on Matt's win after that.

I gotta say that Edge vs. Cena in a TLC was...well...I hated it. The spots looked too staged, the ending with the tables was botched, and it was not what I hoped for. Cena hasn't been in anything involving tables or ladders since. This is why.

Oh, and definitely Angle vs. Benoit deserves a mention. Great match with a clean win by Angle.

Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit from Unforgiven 2002...

I just watched this on DVD last week for the first time since '02 and its awesome. These 2 boys, along Shawn Michaels, are absolute legends in the ring. :worship:

.......F*ck this i'm gonna go watch it right now :icon_exclaim:

i think these are all very nice choices i like em all, definetly the benoit vs angle that definetly goes in there along with the tlc with cena vs edge
another one i really enjoyed was carlito vs orton at 2006 and the finish was amazing,
kane vs shane last man standing was good,
hhh vs goldberg at 2003 was awsome goldberg finally winning the heavyweight very exiting match

Cena hasn't been in anything involving tables or ladders since. This is why.

I remember him losing the WWE championship to Sheamus in a Tables match last year... FAIL

Anyways, I really liked the Cena/Edge match! Honestly, I thought Edge was going to win. Hometown advantage, TLC advantage.

Honorable mention has to go Hardy/Nitro on the same card. I really liked it. Good action and a great opener.

The Hell in a Cell match in 2006 between DX and the McMahons and the Big Show! It was highly entertaining, with both Mcmahons getting the crap beat out of them, and Vince getting his head shoved in Big shows ass! You got to give the boss credit on that! Plus it debuted the new bigger badder, and better Cell!

I'm going to have to agree with most people and say Angle vs Benoit in 2002, that match was awesome, it kept going back and forth, back and forth, I thought it was one of those matches were you would never know who was going to win.

I also enjoyed the Undertaker vs Lesnar match in 2002, it went on for quite some time, sure it ended in DQ but it was still pretty good, I just really liked the Unforgiven 2002 Ppv, that start to it was great.
