Going on 10 years with WrestleZone
Ok kids, we've been exalting the Best of the 90's for weeks, not it's time I gave you all the chance to dicsuss the Worst of the 90s. I posted without a poll, I will try to get that fixed ASAP.

Whether moments, matches, angles, or whatever, the 90's, as great a decade as it was for Pro Wreslting, had its fair share of negatives. What was the WORST of the 90's?

1. Doink He was a clown. An evil clown. He made kids cry, and made stars submit. Then, he decided to be a nice clown. He made kids laugh. Whatever.

2. Jim Ross brings back Diesel and Razor Ramon. Well, sort of. He brings back two imposters, not actually Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. He’s lucky fans forgave him for this crap. Get him Doctor Death!

3. Vince indicted for steroids. Is the real-life issue with Vince from 1993 the worst moment in the 90's? Sure feels that way now...

4. The Four Horsemen vs Robocop. Man, without good ole' Murphy, Sting didn't stand a chance! Thank god the real life half robot, half man, all cop showed up!

5. Big Nasty Bastard. The Big Bossman taunts Big Show, claiming his dead father wasn’t married to his mom when he was born. All the while, Paul Wight’s dad was dying of terminal cancer.

6. Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior @ Halloween Havoc. It’s been debated on these pages for a while now. Was it the worst of the 90's?

7. Glacier. Apparently, WCW just had to capitalize on Mortal Kombat. Somebody please – FINISH HIM!

8. Helwig tosses his cookies. Thanks to a curse by Papa Shango! I am glad he decided to abandon the Voodoo religion to take a job as a pimp.

9. The Shockmaster. No, not my old buddy from these pages, but fat, old Tugboat in a storm trooper helmet trips during his entrance and ruins months of build up.

10. Other. Please explain.

Some "honorable mentions" include - The Gobbeldygooker, The Dungeon of Doom, The Yeti, etc.

hogan vs warrior for sure, i remember that match was hyped soo much but the match was sooo bad

My vote has to go for "Greenberg"... Jericho goes off on Bill for a long time and instead of a match, a simple spear on the entranceway to end the one-sided feud.

Dude, so many craptacular events to choose from. It's a really tough call.

I have however chosen one out right. Although we all know wrestling is "fake", us fans know that there is a very feint line when the bullshit can stop. Robocop crossed that line. Wrestlers with dumb gimmicks are believable, come on, it's wrestling, it's all one big show. Robocop? Half man/half machine. That alone should be enough to sum up how craptastic it was to see Robocop help Sting defeat the Horsemen. WCW actually tried to pass him off as being real? Oh brother.

It was made even funnier by Good Ole' JR on commentary literally having a heart attack from all the excitement while the crowd were just kinda bored. So RoboCRAP...erm I mean Cop wins this one.

So many of them where do i start......

1. Hogan V Warrior @ Halloween Havoc- what a bull shit match. two fossils out of their prime wrestling in a desperate attempt to get ratings for WCW. Nice job Hogan lighting that flash paper.... cough cough

2. Wrestlemania 12 Goldust V Piper " backlot brawl"- hey i got an idea lets use footage of O.J Simpson for our benefit....wow i think Vince was drunk when he made this match.

3. Any Match with Warrior( besides Hogan 1st)- The Ultimate Warrior got fans pumped up when he made his entrance, but where was it in the ring. This guy is a joke and used the same 4 moves ( Gorilla Press, Splash, Clothesline, Scoop slam). He was just a big body with no athletic talent. An Oaf as I call him.

4. Karl Malone DDP V Dennis Rodman Hogan- Great idea... not. Too over hyped for what the match was

5. Butterbean V Bart Gunn- OMG what has the WWE came to? thats what I thought when I saw this match. Brawl for it all? how bout lets throw an overrated boxer at a wrestler and fight in his world. Great idea did we steal that from Rocky 3.

hahaha shockmaster.

I dont even understand what his gimmick was supposed to be.

Glacier was obviously supposed to be like Sub-Zero....but what was Shockmaster!? He just wore something that reminded me of a Billy and Chuck bondage helmet.

And I can't remember if it was late '99 or early 2000...but Naked Mideon...dumb.....but soooooo funny

Okay, so randomly going down the list, I'll give my thoughts on each.. as I know them, or have heard of them.

1. Doink: Albeit, he was a clown.. the gimmick got over with the fans better than any other "stupid" gimmick there was. Doink doesn't belong on this list, because he made it in the wrestling business. (jobbing for several years still counts as making it.. lol) Hell, when they did a "gimmick battle royal" at Wrestlemania X-7, Doink was one of the entrants, thus proving that people will always remember him. Yes, the gimmick was stupid.. but I liked Doink & Dink!!

2. Jim Ross brings back Diesel and Razor Ramon: This (I don't think) even got a slight nod in the ratings boost catagory. The only thing it did, was redebut Isaac Yankem (sp?) better known to today's audience, as Kane. Like the Doink gimmick, I liked the fake Diesel & Razor Ramon gimmick. It added color to the "attitude" era.

3. Vince indicted for steroids: I don't recall a lot of this, except for (I think) Hulk Hogan went up against McMahon in court. This doesn't exactly belong in the "worst moment of the 90's" catagory for wrestling, as it was a personal matter.

4. The Four Horsemen vs Robocop: I recall, slightly, what this was. I voted for this to be my worst moment. (out of what was listed) The Four Horsemen were a legendary group, great beyond their years.. & to subject them to play in some stupid storyline, where they have to interact with a movie character.. it will forever hurt their legacy.

5. Big Nasty Bastard: This has to be the worst storyline of the 1990's, as it played on something real & unfortunate. I don't know who to blame more though.. W.W.F's script writers for coming up with this idea, or Big Show for allowing it to happen. Big Show got a Championship run, for about 2 monthes, out of the deal.. I guess the old addage that you'd "sell your soul for anything" truly could make Mr. McMahon look like Satan, & Big Show look soul-less.

6. Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior @ Halloween Havoc: This is another one that has me scratching my head. Call me crazy, but I liked this match. Sure, it had a screwed up ending with a botched fireworks display.. but its not like the first meeting at WM VI was a technical master-piece. W.C.W. didn't know how to handle things when playing off history. Warrior probably didn't make things any better, as I'm sure by this point in his life he'd been way, WAYYY gone.

7. Glacier: From Glacier, we got Earnest 'The Cat' Miller, Mortis, (better known as Kanyon) Wrath, (better known as Brian Clark of Kronic, or Adam Bomb) & James Vandenburg. (better known as James Mitchell) All in all, Glacier introduced a lot of bigger names in the business, or in Brian Clark's case.. BACK into the business.. so I'd have to say Thank you to Glacier. Stupid gimmick, but sweet entrance.

8. Helwig tosses his cookies: I have no clue what this is. I'm only assuming it was set in 1992, sometime before Wrestlemania VIII (eight) as I sadly don't remember Papa Shango being in wrestling past or before that point. I can't see how Warrior throwing up, because of a gimmick "curse" could be the "worst" moment of the 90's..

9. The Shockmaster: This is another moment in history that I have no clue what it was about. Could someone please explain this situation further?

10. Other: It was 1999.. does anyone remember the likes of The Kiss Demon, in W.C.W. Or "Oklahoma" (W.C.W.'s version of J.R. - better known as Ed Ferrera)

Will, man it's great to see you post on here! I have some reactions to your points.

1. Doink. Point well taken. He did get over, he was funny. As a face, when he used to mess with Bam Bam and Bastion Booger, it was a rip sometimes.

2. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash. Again, point taken on the Glenn Jacobs thing, but the whole idea was a slap in the face of the fans. JR went on this silly tirade about Vince that broke kayfabe, and the fans liked the ECW-esque honesty, but tricking fans like that was an insult. The whole Dr. Death thing too. Hated it.

3. Vince / Steroids. I do think this was a bad moment in the 90's and it was as much business as personal. As wrestling fans, I am sure we all get sick of hearing crap like "they're all a bunch of juice heads" as much as we hate hearing "you know it's fake, right?" This was a HUGE black eye to wrestling and took the superhero Hulk Hogan and made him seem so - mortal.

4. Horsemen vs Robocop. Likely the worst moment in wrestling history. Aside from Arquette winning the WCW Title. Fucking twice.

5. Big Nasty Bastard. Like Homer Simpson selling his soul for a donut, great points Will.

6. Hogan vs Warrior. Just a sad attempt to re-package history. WCW tried it several times with Hogan, Savage, Warrior, Piper, Flair. Thats why the young talent left. I have mentioned the botched "man in the mirror" promos before for why this was a terrible angle.

7. Glacier. Will, well said. Glacier wasn't even a bad talent, but I'd forgotten Miller, one of my all-time favs, came out of this. One of my favorite moments in WCW history was when James Brown came out to be in Miller's corner vs The Maestro.

8. Warrior pukes. Will, after Wrestlemania 8, Papa Shango was quite irate at the Ultimate Warrior for interfering in his and Justice's plans to end Hulkamania. A week or two after the event, on Wrestling Challenge, Shango came down during a Warrior match and stole one of his armbands. He then proceeded to "curse" the Warrior, who suffered from terrible stomach pains. They brought him to the back where he proceeded to "puke" out pea soup. I was like 9 at the time, so I was freaked out.

9. Shockmaster. There are videos all over the net. Google "The Shockmaster" WCW, and you will be able to see the whole thing. Too painful for me to explain.

Nice post, man, keep'em comin!

Oh yes I remembered more...

Jay Leno hitting the Diamond Cutter on Eric Bischoff.
The whole "The Giant is dead" thing after he "fell" from the MGM roof after the equally stupid Monster Truck match....

And shall we forget so soon, the disgrace that was David Arquette being the WCW champion solely to promote the movie Ready to Rumble (which wasn't a half bad flick if I do say so myself)

Oh yeah and the time Vader blew up on a morning talk show because he was asked about wrestling being "fake"...

I would've posted the David Arquette segment number one of all-time worst moments in wrestling history, but I think it happened in 2000. Thats why I didn't post it, cause I didn't think it'd count. Regardless of timelines, its still the all-time worst moment.

I completely forgot about the Giant falling from the MGM roof, Halloween Havoc 1995. And that was one bad segment to another. The Monster-truck match was ******ed, & what exactly was the point? Both trucks were "glued/tied" together. As a fan of fiction, I loved how the Giant "rose from the depths," but as a fan of wanting wrestling to NOT come off any "faker" than it is.. this angle pissed me off.

The "celebs in wrestling" moments will all go down as bad moments. I can't stand giving them spotlight in a ring, as MOST of them.. (with exception of Steve McMicheal, because he continued to train & learn) didn't know what the hell they were ever doing.

Sting being "burnt" by Vampiro, when you could clearly see it wasn't even him.. during Slamboree 2000.. that was ******ed. Kane, for that matter.. in the inferno matches. While I loved those matches, you could clearly see the burn wrap on his arm.

Master P & the No Limit Soilders taking on Curt Hennig & the West Texas Rednecks.. what.. the.. ****... thats all I got.

I'm sure as time goes on, I'll continue to think of more. Thanks Irish, for the warm welcome.

These can't be on a worst anything. All rock.

Jim Ross brings back Diesel and Razor Ramon

Brilliant. Hey wait that's not Kevin Nash, that's Isaac Yankem. I pissed myself.

The Four Horsemen vs Robocop

You wouldn't fuck with Robocop would you? Best face ever by default.

Big Nasty Bastard

Not only is your dad dying of cancer funny. I should know. But surfing on his casket is the next big thing in extreme sports. Yeah it's dangerous. But damn is it fun.

Hogan vs Warrior @ Halloween Havoc

Bad matches own good matches. This is up there with my personal fave Mankind vs. HBK.

Warrior gets cursed, pukes green slime

Voodoo will do that to you. Fuck with Shango and that's what you get. I've never got involved with voodoo. Why? Because I dont like goo. Lesson learned. Thanks WWE.

The Shockmaster

I love how half the wrestlers pissed themselves. Dave Smith ''He fell on his fuckin' arse'' And the other wrestlers (Harlem Heat & Sid) maintaind there composure. Heat and Sid are heros imo, how did they not laugh?
