Ruthless-RKO

F*ck Friends, Rather die wiv ma AK!
From 2004 to 2009, WWE brought back WCW ppv The Great American Bash. From 2004 to 2006 it was an all Smackdown! Exclusive ppv, from 2007 to it conclusion in 2009, where it was renamed to ‘The Bash’, it was tri-branded.

Over the years it managed to pull some amazing and memorable matches, What I want to know is out of the lot, What is your favourite match to have taken place at Great American Bash??
(Remember wwe only)

For me it would have to be from 2008, Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels, this match was continuing the feud between the 2 since it started after Wrestlemania XXIV, it lasted until No Mercy the same year, the best feud of the year, this was an absolute classic between the 2, IMO, they kinda topped the Wrestlemania match they had back in 2003. Jericho was focusing on the injured eye of HBK that he himself had something to do with. It was an amazing match that ended with Jericho winning.

Honourable Mention
2004
Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero for the Cruiserweight champion
JBL vs. Eddie Guerrero in a Texas bull rope match for the wwe champion

2005
Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero

2006
The Undertaker vs. Big Show in a Punjabi Prison match

2009 (The Bash)
Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho in a Mask vs. Title match
Randy Orton vs. Triple H in a 3 Stages of Hell match for the wwe champion

So What's Yours???

Honestly, I liked 2005 Undertaker vs Hassan. They had a really good program going but people complained when Hassan went too far (blame the bombing in London at the time too). Of course, it was the end of the like for Hassan as Taker gave him a Last Ride on through the stage.

I agree with the OP 1000%... I was in attendance for the '08 Great American Bash and I must say that the Y2J v. HBK match a a truly phenomenal match. Well worked by both parties and Shawn sold the eye well. Then having Jericho come out later and claim he ended Shawn's career... to this day I have my ticket because I distinctly remember Jericho telling us to save the stub's because this was HBK's last match.

Seriously dig JBL vs. Eddie Guerrero in a Texas Bullrope Match. That was the first time I ever saw that classic stipulation, and it gave rise to one of the longest reigning champions in WWE history, John "Bradshaw" Layfield, yessir!

Well not too many matches were memorable for me, but the OP listed the best ones really so I'll have to agree, but also add one:

John Cena vs JBL in a Parking Lot Brawl

I really loved this one and it may have been the best Parking Lot Brawl of all time though the others were great too. This one had that great fire and went out to the ramp as well. I just loved the effort they put into the match and it was my favorite JBL/Cena match aside from their I Quit Match.

I mean from the very first moment of the match it had me on edge when the car lights came on and attempted to hit JBL. Great stuff (I believe it was JBL who was looking for Cena in the lot and almost got hit)

Anyway that match is a fav of mine from this PPV. Brawl matches like Boiler Room etc are scarce now, but atleast when we get one the WWE does make it look good. So that's one I'll add to the list. It made both men look good and was an all out hardcore slugfest with good hard bumps

Well I am not sure if its the Best but Eddie Gurrero vs Jbl was great match. There feud at the time was awesome imo and while Jbl win was a little out know were. I still think it is in the top 10 wwe great america bash matches of all time.

Also techically they are still doing the Great American Bash name its just they shorten it to The Bash and I think they should still continue it since has so much history.

The bullrope match between Eddie Guerrero and JBL was my favorite! I liked it because it was an old school match that to my knowledge had never been done before in the WWE, however was well known in the NWA/WCW just like the The Great American Bash was in itself! It was brutal, not as brutal as the match they had a Judgement Day the month before, but I really don't think there is a bloodier match than that (I digrece)!! WWE of course added a new wrinkle by putting up the light in each corner that lit up red for Eddie and green for JBL! In the end it was a claasic bloody brawl that had the contoversial bullrope finish! Great match!

I have to say that my favorite GAB moment is a little old school. It was I believe it was in 1986 when Jim Cornette fell off of the scaffold. Funny still after all these years:lmao:

I'm going to go back to 1990 for this one, Sting vs. Flair. For a good year, this feud built and culminated in this match. This was when Sting was at his wrestling peak, as well as Flair in his prime. I'd give an honorable mention to Flair vs. Funk and Sting vs. Muta from 1989.

The Bash was a classic PPV before it became one of the WWE's run of the mill, "crank out 13 ppv's a year" shows. If the Bash is to be held in reverence, in my eyes, it's due to the WCW years.

I liked 2007's GABash. The match between John Cena and Bobby Lashley. Although the match was extremely short, it was so much build up for it , the crowd was in it, and both men did a good job. Also kane vs Khali vs Batista. For the match to have three super heavyweights they did a good job and kept the crowd into it surprisingly. I also think the jbl bullrope match was solid.

Do you not pay attention? It's been replaced with the new MITB PPV.

Again, I said earlier Taker vs Hassan was my favorite. Gotta give props to my runner up though, King Booker vs Rey Mysterio for the WHC. It showed the Guerrero's heel turn since Eddie died (Vickie took Chavo's side of course). Also it was the start of one of the most underrated gimmicks on Smackdown in the last 5 years... King Booker, King of the World!
