Best Frog Splash in the business

Hollywood Naitch

The current reigning and defending
Just a straightforward one here guys, who do you think had the best frog splash in the history of wrestling?

In my mind there are only 2 contenders, Rob Van Dam and D'Lo Brown

I loved the Lo Down, it was a completely unique style splash, I have never seen anybody else use than manouver with his arms moving in a scissor like motion, while RVD's is more of a regular Frog Splash, but with extra extension and a great landing where he actually bounces off his opponent and sells his ribs, indicating the pain caused by the heavy impact of his body colliding with his opponents.

If I had to pick just one, it would be Van Dam and his Five Star Frog Splash, simply for the level of impact, the way that RVD can twist his body in mid-air when performing the move and that fact that he can hit it from almost anywhere in the ring, often diving the whole way across to land the move.

(not the best clip of it I know, but you already know the move!)

The Five star frog splash hands down. From how much air he gets, all the way to the selling of the ribs as you mentioned. He also always makes it look like he stops in mid air for a second before landing. it don't matter where in the ring you are, he can position himself mid air to land perfectly on top of you. (minus the ec match where he injured HHH but that's a bad thing so we will keep that between you and me ;))

Sorry guys I should have posted a poll, totally forgot to do so.

The options I would have included would have been

Rob Van Dam
Eddie Guerrero
D'Lo Brown
Christian
Chavo Guerrero
Other

I am not including regular top rope splash moves like Val Venis' Money Shot, specifically Frog Splashes

In my mind theres only 2 thats either Eddie or RVD . But Both have there good points RVD seems to be able Distance and as said before has bounce to it (Maybe due to a bit of a belly)

With Eddie i always found his exciting and the way he pulled in then out just seemed like he was going for maximum damage .

In my mind when i think frog splash i always picture eddie doing it to JBL off the cage

I love the fact that this thread mentioned DLo Brown and his frog splash! He went a little extra with the reach. Who has the best one? Hmmm......this one probably HAS to go to RVD since he jumps higher, longer and has more flexability than anyone else who has ever done this move. RVD took it to a whole nother level.

However, I have to say that my favorite is, was and always will be Eddie's! He had amazing tempo to his, and still delivered a quick, impactfull finish. Also in 20 yrs of wrestling and I have probably watched 500 Eddie matches, it always looks the same! He did it with as much grace 5mins into a match as he did 25mins in, with blood dripping down his face. I also like the fact that Eddies landing went straight into a pin. RVD kinda sells it too much and wastes a little time going for the cover compared to Eddie.

So to recap... THE BEST FROG SPLASH:RVD
MY FAVORITE: EDDIE
HONORABLE MENTION: DLo Brown (I believe DLo could have been a 6 or 7 time IC champ if he didnt drop Droz on his head. Hard to trust a man in the ring after he does that...)

RVD by far. Everyone keeps mentioning Eddie, and as much as I loved watching him, his frog splash was really nothing special.

Ever since I have watched Rob Van Dam for the first time, he has been one of my favorite wrestlers, so, I will go with him.

The height, and bounce he gets off of it, is something else.

Also, I am glad that, I wasnt the only one thinking of D-Lo Brown. The fact that, was he was the biggest guy in this group, and his finishing move came off the top rope, make it even more impressive.

I would say Eddie Guerrero, but, he is a man that should be by himself. I watched him from ECW, to his last days in the WWE. RIP Eddie

My favorite has always been Eddie's. He pulled off an explosive frog splash that always was picture perfect and looked legit. Hell he even dislocated his own forearm doing the move on RAW! A close 2nd has to go to RVD. I like his setup and he jumps straight to the top rope to do it and his extension.

Easily RVD for me. I love hoe RVD sells the impact, and makes it look like he actually gets hurt too, which he would. Yes, Eddie's was good, but he never looked to be hurt after he hit it, after flying so high in the air and then colliding with another human. It just doesn't seem as believable to me. So RVD truly has the best, Five Star, Frog splash.

My only 3 contenders for the best frog splash in history would be: 1. Rob Van Dam, 2. Eddie Guerrero, and in a distant 3rd place.....D'Lo Brown, and why do I feel D'Lo is in a distant 3rd, I just think he made a mockery of the frog splash.....I mean, it was funny for a little while, but in the end, he made a mockery of a move that both RVD and Eddie made famous for....

For me it has to be D-Lo Brown, for intresting reasons. Look at the names on The Natural's List.......... Eddie and Chavo Guerrero, Christian, RVD. Hell even Art Barr, the creator of the frog splash. What do all these guys have in common.... They are smaller. I mean it is what smaller guys were known for. But D-Lo changes that he is 6''2' 280lbs. That is a big man to drop all his weight on you. He made it look more impactful and believable when I saw a guy his size go to the top.

Eddie Guerrero's Frog Splash, easily. He made it one of my favorite moves. He was very good at it and the execution was always spot on. It defined him as a wrestler, it was a great move. He could get good air on it, but at the same time he could make the landing look extremely painful. It was a very well done move. My second favorite would have to be RVD. The Five Star Frog Splash is one of the coolest things in the business today. He gets up SO high, and he sprawls out basically. It looks very dangerous and damage inflicting. Let me tell you this, I've seen it in person, it is absolutely astonishing.

No doubt, Eddie, hands down. But art Barr, RVD, and d'lo are great examples.

But did you ever see a young man in arkansas named J.D. Kerry? His frog splash is amazing. He doesn't look old enough to drive, much less wrestle. Possibly the best frogsplash I have ever seen.
