Best Debut Ever

Yesterday Cam Newton made his NFL regular season debut and was nothing short of spectacular. He was 24-37 for 422 yards with 2 tds and 1 pick. He also added a rushing td contributing to all three Carolina touchdowns. It was easily the greatest debut ever of an NFL quarterback and one of the best ever overall in any sport.

My question to you is, what is the greatest professional sports debut of all time? It can be any sport and it doesn't have to be a rookie, though doing it as a rookie ups the impressiveness.

Truthfully I cannot answer your question without going to wikipedia or googling Dan Marino. The thing about being a rookie is your not supposed to perform as the pro's do. Cam certainly put forth a PRO effort on Sunday and thats what sucks about it. Where else can he go from here? 555 in a game? Anything else that isnt up to par with that first game will be medicore by his, mine and the media's standards.

I was at the Cubs vs Reds game last season when Starlin Castro made his MLB debut. In his first at bat he hit a 3-run Home Run off of Homer Bailey. Later in the game he came up with the bases loaded and cleared them with a triple. 6 RBI in his first big league game was quite an impressive debut.
