B.O.B - The Adventures of Bobby Ray

Turd Ferguson

DA-DA Da Da Da Bah Da Da DADADA
This album drops on April 27. It was actually pushed ahead based on the popularity of "Nothin' On You", which you can't go a half hour without hearing on the radio right now. The song's popularity is booming, and as a result, so is B.O.B. I've heard some of his stuff in the past (mixtapes), but this is his first major album, and needless to say, I cannot wait for it.

Right now, I can't get enough of him. I'm very much hooked on his music right now. This is his coming out party. From what I've heard so far, this could be the best rap album of 2010. Nothin' On You is the single that put him on the map, and he's already got other singles lined up that have potential to be huge. Don't Let Me Fall, which is the second single he's releasing, and the first track on the album, has potential to be huge.

The Adventures of Bobby Ray should be a tremendous album, just because of the people who he's collaborating with on some of the tracks. He's worked on tracks with Lupe Fiaco, Eminem, T.I., and John Legend. He also worked on tracks with Rivers Cuomo of Weezer, and did two tracks with Hayley Williams from Paramore. "Airplanes" is the two part track. I've already heard the first part with Hayley Williams, which I cannot get enough of by the way, and the second part, which I'm really looking forward to hearing features both Hayley and Eminem.

How well do you think this album will do? Do you think B.O.B. is the future of hip-hop like I do, or is he just going to be a flash in the pan? Are you looking forward to this album as much as I am?

Here are the three lead tracks off of the album:

1.) Nothin' On You (Featuring Bruno Mars)

Future of hip-hop? I don't think so. B.o.B. is alright, I remember downloading one of his mixtapes a few months ago and digging a few songs, but overall I can't say I'm a huge fan of the guy. He's got a good flow and isn't a bad lyricist, but something about him just strikes me as very generic and just not unique at all. He reminds me of Obie Trice, talented emcee who just makes boring music. I hear some potential in some of these singles you've just posted though, particularly his verses in Airplanes which are all quite good. REALLY did not like that first song at all though Guy, I don't listen to the radio so I wouldn't know if it's popular or not, but that just sounded like some run-of-the-mill generic Chris Brown-esque R&B.

Future of hip-hop? Doubtful, not from anything I've seen from him so far. The future of hip-hop is pretty much already decided in the hands of guys like Kid Cudi, Drake, and Wiz Khalifa. B.o.B. could certainly be a major player in the time to come, but he just doesn't strike me as being nearly as talented as the previous three rappers I just mentioned.

He has promise and I really enjoyed the song Airplane. He should have a successful debut album but I don't really think he is exactly the future of hip hop. I agree with X that Kid Cudi is the true future of hip hop. B.O.B. doesn't really brink a style of rap I haven't heard before. He has such a similar sound to Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and even Schwayze, not that that's a bad thing at all, in fact that is the sort of hip hop/rap I enjoy the most, but I think he will be overshadowed by guys like West and Fiasco.

I will definitely check him out some more when his album drops. The fact that he worked on a song with Lupe Fiasco is enough to intrigue me. Eminem and TI don't hurt his cause at all either and John Legend is always nice to listen to. I am also interested to hear what kind of song he has done with Rivers Cummo. So I will most certainly check B.O.B. out when his album drops, it should be good.

I really dig the song "Nothin' on you" mostly because I have a huge soft spot for R&B.( One of my favorite genres.) Also, mainly because of Bruno Mars' chorus. On the song "Nothin' on you, he sounds a bit generic and plain. However, on the songs that you've posted of his other work, he sounds pretty damn good. Very nice sound. I'm liking it. Nice flow, but to the question as to him being the future of hip hop. Who knows? He does have potential. A lot of people seem to love him. I'm sure many fans will support him.

The album is looking good too. Pretty much features all of my favorite artists right now. The song "Airplanes" is fantastic. B.O.B did a great job on that track. Also, Hayley Williams is like my hero. Love her. I definitely do look forward to the future of B.O.B.

Fool for love is an amazing sing imo and should be on the album. Its off the May 25th mixtape which i highly recommend.

As for his album i am very excited. The track list looks good but i fear Dont let me fall as a single will not be able to generate the level of hype of nothing on you did. However Airplanes could be a hit.

Is he the "future",i hope but i don't believe so but he isn't going any were soon.

Plus i love the album cover

B.OB. is a very good rapper and he has 2 songs that i love Fuck You with lil boosie and Nothin on you although on nothin on you he sounds kind of like everyone else but on Fuck you he has a unique sound that drew me to him. The future of hip hop is drake and wiz khalifa this album could prove me wrong though and catapult B.O.B. into their level

Agreed. I find that B.O.B is not the best in the game, or even the future. He'll be around for a bit till the trend fades.

Lupe Fiasco to me is the future, and always has been. Under rated, amazing in lyrics, subject and messege. B.O.B, this guy is not the truth.

He's okay, I guess, I like the Airplanes song because Eminem is on it.

But the idea of Hip hop's future is not truly upon the head of one person. We need more than one to come out and do it correctly. And not just the commercial rappers coming out saying they are ''Hip hop'' and not mainstream, but even saying that has become mainstream.

i think he's really good...I downloaded one of his mixtapes a while back and really liked it. Nothin' On you is pretty good. I love airplanes. It will probably be a big hit...but I don't see it surpassing Nothin' On You because it's more of a mainstream song. But all and all I do believe he's the future of hip hop.

Liked him since I d/loaded 'I'll Be In The Sky' on iTunes
I'm from the UK so hes still an unknown over here but not for long I Imagine.

In my opinion the best song on the album is Magic with the guy from Weezer.
I love the rock/rap collab's so If anyone can point me to some more that would be great.

but airplanes of course is greaat as well.

I have to agree absolutely that he could be part of the future of hip-hop, he and Drake are probably the two guys I've been listening to most recently, but I prefer B.o.B.

I don't think I've heard a bad song by him yet, and I'm trying my hardest not to download the album (end of May release here in the UK) as much as I want to, because I don't want to ruin it. Definitely one to watch out for in the future. The fact that he has got artists like Em, Hayley Williams and Lupe on his debut album shows that to me.
