Ladies and gentlemen, welcome.
Jimmy Flynn is standing in the middle of a basketball court, arms wide spread to the bleachers piled high around him. In the corner behind him is a triangular scoreboard, with a commentators booth just above it.
Jimmy: Welcome to the pinnacle of Downeast Maine sports. This has been the home of champions for many years past, and its a sad fact that this is its last year holding the tournaments.
He sits down on the hardwood floor, looking around the area.
Jimmy: The Bangor Auditorium. One of the most notable places in Eastern Maine. Home to the Eastern Maine championship tourneys. To Downeast Maine athletes, this is the goal of the season. A chance to play in front of a full house of six thousand people. Some people go their entire careers and never get to step foot in this hallowed ground.
Flynn pats the wood, then stands up and walks towards the bleachers. The camera goes up the side to show another section of seats above the bleachers on the ground.
Jimmy: In this building, for over 50 years, a champion has been guaranteed to be crowned. This arena has held decades of tournaments and events. And this place, these regal halls, is the reason why none of my opponents know true history.
Jimmy returns to the hardwood floor, and stands again at half court. He runs his hand through his hair, and looks up at the ceiling.
Jimmy: Who else can say theyve been in an arena where over 50 champions have been crowned? Who else knows the history of such a place? True champions played here, and created history.
The Devils Dancer slaps the wood, then saunters over to the end of the court.
Jimmy: Which brings me to my opponent for this week. Jacoby Capone, The Subculture Savior
.
Flynns gaze roams for a bit, vision cloudy, then he refocuses on the camera.
Jimmy: Excuse me for a moment, but, seriously, what the hell does that even mean? I mean, subculture? Do you like underground places?
Jimmy shakes his head, his eyebrows furrowed.
Jimmy: In any case, youve been quite surprising in WZCW. Youve fallen quite a bit since your debut.
Flynn folds his arms, a hard glare coming from his eyes.
Jimmy: Now, to be honest, so have I. But, my two losses have come from person goals of not letting go. Ive dealt with the issues of my monster after my last match, and now Im ready to hit the mat once again.
Jimmy chuckles, a low noise that seems like a growl.
Jimmy: At the moment, but my opponent and I seem like flashes in a pan, but one of us will be able to rebound.
Jimmy looks directly at the camera, his glare cold as stone.
Jimmy: Jacoby, you were impressive. Lets see if you can get back on your game and come dance with me. Itll be fun, for me.
Flynn laughs as the lights shut off.
