Getting Noticed By Management
Despite the title not being on the line, Ascension will feature a re-match from Kingdom Come IV where Johnny Scumm will take on Triple X in singles competition. Both men requested to have this match and Ty has seemingly approved, allowing the fans who did not get to watch Kingdom Come a chance to witness two rising stars compete at a high level of competition. However, will the result be the same or can Scumm take the surprise here and show that he is still a top contender for the Elite X title?

Deadline is Tuesday, June 12th at 11:59 PM Central Time.

Whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger...

Triple X, a man who I am only proud of to come up against in the ring, we're going to be doing it all again, on Ascension. At Kingdom Come, I put everything I had into that match and it wasn't working. This time around, I guarantee you it will be different. You see, there was something missing at that Pay Per View, something that said it wasn't going to miss it for the world.

Scumm is standing at a window, talking to what could be called "nothingness", until he turns around and his father is sitting on the Sofa, looking over towards him.

You, Dad. You weren't there. But... you had every reason to not turn up. It wasn't until after my match that I had a phone call from the Hospital telling me what had happened to you. Luckily it was fainting and nothing more, but this time, this time I want you to be there.

I promise you Johnathan, I'll be there. I will make your entrance with you and be there all the way.

Good. All my career in WZCW, you've not been there for me, there has been nobody to accompany me in what I've done.

Chris.. um, whatshisname? How about him?

Kline? He was a lackey. He wasn't family, or eventually a true friend. He constantly tried to stop me from reaching what I wanted and it didn't work. You might've realised he's not been around a while. I've told him that I want nothing more to do with him, ever.

You know Johnny, since I knew you turned up here, I've watched all of your matches. How did you truly feel about your opponents?

Most of them, I still don't get on with and never will. Triple X and John Constantine are the only two guys here I can say that I like. Ricky Runn, Austin Reynolds, Mikey Stormrage & James Howard, I may not know or like them as a person, but I admire what they have. You see them last week at KC? They're were brilliance defined in that match.

What about someone like... Saboteur?

Saboteur? I may be a nice enough guy now, but he's still a joke. Seriously, what's with the get up? He's not Spiderman, he's a fucking wrestler. Oh and don't get me started on people like Darren Bull. "Party hard, forget to wrestle".

Focus John. Bring yourself back to Ascension. You against Triple X, in a Kingdom Come rematch.

I know what's happening Dad, I just wish that the Elite X Championship was on the line. Mark my words X, the little thing we have going isn't over. I respect you more than any wrestler back in the locker room, but after this match on Ascension, I will want the Elite X title.

I'm coming for it, it will be mine.

The WZCW logo is on a wall in the background, as the camera zooms out to reveal Becky Serra, mic in hand, ready to ask the tough questions.

Ladies and gentleman, joining me at this time for a WZCW.com exclusive, the Elite X Champion, Triple X!

The camera pans to reveal Triple X in his everyday jeans and t-shirt, sunglasses on, Elite X title on his shoulder, with a grin from ear to ear. The camera zooms out more to bring Serra back into the shot.

Triple X, first of all, congratulations on the title defence at your very first Kingdom Come. (X nods his head in recognition) Your thoughts on the blistering match between yourself and Johnny Scumm that ultimately led to you walking out still champion?

Well firstly, thank you very much. Secondly, wrestling Scumm was easily my favourite match of my career. I enjoyed it more than beating Blade, I even enjoyed it more than winning the title in the first place. I’ve wrestled in Japan, Mexico, all over Europe, but this one match was by far and away the best match I’ve ever competed in. And it made it all the more sweeter that it was at the biggest show of the year. And I’m still here, standing before you and the fans, STILL the Elite X Champion. My thoughts, Becky, are that this has been a pretty swell month.

Many feel that, along with the victory against Blade, that this match silenced the critics who labelled you as a ‘fluke’ champion. Would that be fair to say?

Becky, you and I both know that there are always gonna be critics. And one or two matches ain’t gonna change their opinions. But as far as I’m concerned, I’ve proven since day one, ever since I stepped out onto Aftershock, that not only do I belong here, but that I’m one of the very best talents in that ring, and that on my day, I can beat anyone. Hell, (X adjusts the belt on his shoulder) if I couldn’t, I wouldn’t still be holding this now, would I?

Would you be able to say the same had you lost the title to Scumm? Many saw you as the favourite to win that match; surely a loss would have-

-Becky, none of that matters for one simple reason. I’m standing here, belt on shoulder, smile on face as the champ. And if, hypothetically, Scumm had have pinned me, there isn’t a guy on the roster that I’d say deserves it more. He’s a kickass competitor, he pushed me to my limits at Kingdom Come and gave me the best match of my career so far. He deserves to win a championship. Just maybe not this championship.

Does the enjoyment of the match come from the mutual respect you and Scumm share, or because he took you all the way.

Honestly? It’s both. Scumm is the kind of guy who never lets you get off easy. You step in the ring with him and win, lose or draw, he leaves a lasting impression. He took me to the edge at Kingdom Come, and fortunately for me, I ended up on the right side of lady luck. And as far and the mutual respect goes, Scumm and I are two very different people. But one thing I absolutely admire about Johnny is that he’s genuine. He has no problem with walking up to you and telling you straight-up how he feels. And he’s got it in the ring to back up what he says. He’s not some jumped-up asshole like Cooper or Overlast who instantly think they’re better than everyone else; he’s actually trying to earn his way. And I’ve gotta admire that.

X, I have to ask; is there any danger that with the amount of respect you hold for Johnny Scumm, that you’re perhaps lulling yourself into a naive false sense of security?

Becky, make no mistake, when the time comes, I have no issue with kicking Scumms teeth down his throat. Just like I did at Kingdom Come. And just like I will on Ascension.

X removes the sunglasses, and looks into the camera, which zooms in, totally focusing on him.

Scumm, make no mistake. I think you’re a good guy. And I’m glad we get another match; we tore the house down at Kingdom Come and we’re gonna do it again. And if you were to somehow beat me tonight then who knows? Maybe you’ll get another shot. But rest assured, Johnny, that ain’t gonna happen. Not only did I beat you at the biggest event of the year with my title on the line, but I’ve been undefeated on Ascension since the Lethal Lottery. I wowed the fans at the Lottery, I beat Steven Holmes, I even beat Blade. Trust me when I tell you Scumm; I respect you, but you don’t scare me. If anything Scumm, I challenge you. Do. Your. Worst.

Triple X, thank you for your time, and good luck on Ascension.

X stands there for a moment, the smile slightly eroded from his face in favour of a sterner, more serious expression, before turning and leaving, as the camera focuses back on the WZCW logo on the back wall.
