Last night we seen Kane hand his mask to The Authority in a sad manner. Now it is no secret he has been considered retiring since last year. I think I read somewhere that he said " If it gets to the point where either I can't go anymore, they can't pay me anymore,or there is nothing left for me to do, I'll hang them up." Kane can still go as seen last night. They will pay him regardless but there is nothing left for him to. Once he handed in his mask my first thought was "Retirement." I don't see him being an unmasked or masked character. What are your thoughts is Kane retiring or is it just part of the storyline

I'd think there'd be more too it if that was his real retirement. Kane has been with the company for too long, so I'd like to think there'd be more fanfare. I personally suspect it's just going to be a face turn, but we'll see.

Seems a bit of a shit way to retire. With someone that's been in WWE for this long and had a rather prominent career just handing over the mask after the opening match of a Raw seems kind of shit.

I assume this is some part of angle for Kane to come back as an authority figure (again) maybe working for Vince or some other person trying to take control from the authority.

Yes Kane may be thinking of retiring but I'm sure they'd make it a big deal. He is a legend and deserves to go out as such.

One can argue that we haven't seen Undertaker since his Wrestlemania loss and he may be as good as retired also but if it's officially confirmed Undertaker is retiring he will get a proper send off and Kane deserves the same treatment.

I doubt he's retiring as there'd probably be a ton of buzz all over the internet if there was any word, indication, rumors, etc. that Kane was hanging it up for good. To be perfectly honest, I'd sort of forgotten about it until I read over this thread and it's really the only discussion I've come across regarding him handing over his mask & wig. I suppose it's always possible that he is but, if so, then it's being kept extremely quiet and only a small handful of people would be aware of it.

The sequel to See No Evil is due to be released on October 17th, so I highly doubt Kane's going anywhere right now. WWE's going to plug the movie to some degree, so Kane's gonna be around for that. If anything, he might simply be taking some time off in order to do just that: promote the release of the film.

This isn't rocket science... the movie is about to come out, which has Kane unmasked in it... so if he's going to be promoting it onscreen then it makes sense he's unmasked so they can talk about it.

Kane quite likely is reaching the end of the road but he will go out at a Mania if he can, not retire in that kind of manner.

I think Kane is just taking time off to promote his new film "See No Evil 2", that's all this is. I know there has been rumours that Kane was considering retirement within the next few years, but I don't think this is it.

I don't like how he's been unmasking, then remasking, then unmasking again over the last couple of years. It's been further watering down the whole Kane gimmick which to me has never been the same since he took off the mask in 2002/03 after the feud with Triple H.

He'll be back, mark my words.

Hi Guys - Anyone remember me?

I can see Kane approaching the end of his career sometime soon, but I don't think that'll be for another year or two, if not a little longer.

Mind you, others have gone with next to no fanfare but in Kane's case it would be nice to see him get a send off when he does decide to hang 'em up!

Seriously I think what this could be is that remember when Kane first started he was a monster then he was a joke then when he was unmasked a monster and then a joke again with the mask and then he went corporate. anyone ever think with see no evil 2 coming out its time to bring out the unmasked monster who set JR on fire? of course just one mans opinion

Doubt it, the man can obviously still go in the ring as said in the thread everyone, especially WWE would be making more of a big deal out of it. Seems like a obvious angle to get Kane some time off and to possibly open up a henchman spot on the Authority. (I recommend Cesaro since he clearly has nothing else going for him atm)

I don't like how he's been unmasking, then remasking, then unmasking again over the last couple of years.

Yes, that's the problem. I took his unmasking on Monday as a sign of shame that he had failed in the task assigned him by The Authority: beat up Roman Reigns. By itself, the act of handing the mask to his boss could be considered a dramatic, significant move.

Problem is......what now? He can't keep switching from monster to loser ....and back again..... without taxing the fan's willingness to believe. I seriously doubt WWE plans to have Kane show up in a suit again, playing the corporate game and making us wonder where his mask is.

Retirement? Maybe. It could be that the sequel to his film and the notoriety he gained as a pro wrestler in promoting it represents his last gasp as an active competitor.

I hope not.

Yeah he is winding down to retirement but I think the unmasking is because the film is coming out. they unmasked him before the first movie came out as well. it'll be so the casual fan who might see the movie and flicks Raw on can see who Kane is straight away

While I hope he's retiring I highly doubt it, his contract from what I heard goes up Sunday and he'll probably have a month or two off and come back.

It's amazing Glen Jacobs (Kane) has been around for so long! 30 years?!? Remember, he was there BEFORE the Attitude Era!

Yes, he was in WWE before the Attitude Era, but it hasn't been 30 years. He arrived here in 1995.

Before that, I remember him as Unabomber in Smoky Mountain Wrestling.

I hope he takes a long break. I was very tired of him in his recent half-demon-half-bitch character.

I don't want to see him interfering in main events and causing a disqualification with his same-old, same-old tactics. Nor do I want to see him getting added to PPV main events or chokeslamming younger talent.

Since he is a legend, I don't want to see him lose either, neither do I want to see him as The Authority's bitch. The corporate character was cool, but we've seen enough of that too.

So its better if he simply hangs it up and starts working backstage... rather than returning as "An Unstoppable Monster" again someday, before being reduced to a joke soon enough.

To be honest I am burned out on Kane for right now. I truly hope he is gone off TV for a while as others have mentioned the sequel to the movie.

Kane has looked like talent enhancement for a number of years now or some fill in, in major title bouts that I no longer take him seriously. I haven't taken him serious since '98 in his feud with Undertaker that capped off at the time in that great WM 14 match against Undertaker.

For his age I will admit he is still agile but was booked extremely weak against Roman Reigns. The unfortunate here is despite him losing he has ultimately been big part of big storylines for a while and he's another upper mid card/main eventer potentially gone off air for a while.

I will say it's safe to assume he's done with in ring work until roughly Survivor Series.

he certainly would get a retirement match at mania

he has been a pro, great worker for the company, fair in the ring, better promos than most
