Are we In a recession?...No really?

Well this so called recession or credit crunch has been going on for the long haul now in the UK, ive read in the papers over the last few months that alot of the banks here in the UK are being made public, business's going into bankruptcy, mortgages rates going down the tube

but yet...

Their is an increase in food prices...

Congestion charge is not easing up

Oil and fuel prices going through the roof

I just want to know two things, is this happening everywhere? and if so are all governments taking this approach?

To me this seems like an excuse for Brown to get his hands on a viable income, yes lenders got greedy but once this resession is over the government will be sitting on a viable goldmine with at least three of the major banks in their back pocket, which leads me to believe that in some way shape or form they are enjoy the fact that they are messing with taxpayers wages here to benefit themselves

But thats just my opinion

why so?, do you think that its actually something that is spirallng out of control? or can it be easily rectified?

Depends, I lost my job because a polish man was living in a flat with 8 other polish men and sending his wages back to poland so that he could work for under half the money I was and do a shitter job. Once the pound came to equal money with the Euro he did a runner and all of a sudden I had a job again.

So it can be easily rectified.

Well I lost my job and thus home due to the recession...hilarious

To be fair, I soon lost my job again due to the lack of work. So I am not sure how easily rectified.

Well yeah.

The recession hasn't really affected me too badly, because I am a student. I've actually got quite a nice flat which had been done up for sale cheaply out of it.

However, 70% of the work force at the factory I used to work at have been sacked, andnobody who is leaving uni this year can get a job, so I have seen the effects first hand, but fortunately for me don't really have to worry about anything for the time being.

I tell you one thing, this recession is more worked than pro wrestling. Between the banks, the governments and the media, everyone is getting screwed over. Just the elites running things making sure that when they bring back the shitty jobs with low pay, you'll be glad to get them. Globalization was one massive screwjob waiting to happen and now they are pulling the plug world-wide.

I'm moving to get a job next year. I've the advantage that people will always get sick and need medicine. That being said, no jobs in Northern Ireland now that the Euro means it doesn't pay to cross the border and earn stupid money like £400 a day

Im surprised to say the least at the fact that the Euro is becoming as strong as the pound so it makes less Migrant workers over in the UK from poor countries like Poland, plus the tightening of the benefits system for overseas individuals makes sense too but i see more selfish decisions being made by our government at this time due to the fact that they are concentrating more on themselves then helpiing those who are losing their jobs to get work, guys who are used to pay packats of 20 - 40 Grand Per Anum are being made to accept small time roles as cashiers in supermarkets.

People are being forced to do waht the government tells them to so the economy can keep on moving, the problem is its destroying this country as we know it.

Im waiting on Good Old Gordon to tell us that the recession is over because i for one dont believe this recession is real for one second, because the only ones who seem to suffer at the moment are the working class.

Capitalism at it's best. Expect your government to start thinking about switching to the Euro pretty soon. Banks control money and the less types of currency there are, the better they can be controlled. What we have today is a new form of wage slavery being developed. The recession is very much real, but it's for the most part, orchestrated. As human population grows, control has to expand also, the war on "terror" was step one to cut individual rights down to a manageable level, economic control is the next step.

I think it's very naive of you to say that it could be fixed easily. I used to study politics and economics and there is just no easy way out of this. The governments had no choice but to step in.

The recession is not as bad as the media is making it out to be, sure banks fucked up but the media beat up has severely demoralised the economies more than just a general reporting of news.
