Another Reason Why Back To The Future Is Awesome

Near the end of the first one, Doc Brown makes a model of at least half of the city of Hill Valley to demonstrate his plan to send Marty back to the future. Upon unveiling the tabletop sized model, he says the following:

"Please excuse the crudity of this model. I didn't have time to build it to scale or to paint it."

I love that man.

I was just watching this with my sister a couple weeks ago and we were talking about that exact scene. I wondered why Doc took so much time to build a model of that entire area when he only used the clock tower and the light posts holding the wires in his demonstration. She said I spend too much time wondering about things that don't matter. Ever since I've been wondering if that's true.

If you think about it, he shouldn't have needed to spend any time on it. All he had to do is spend the time on it, then once it is completed go back in time and give it to himself right as he starts doing it. The current time Doc would have spent no time on it, since it was a gift from Future Doc.
