Ancelotti Sacked, Blackpool down, and other premier league aftermath

Tastycles

Turn Bayley heel
Manic day.

My contribution that you won't have heard is this:

Zoltan Gera ccame on for his last ever Fulham appearance, 4 minutes later he does possibly the worst tackle I've ever seen live and gets sent off, possibly costing the club European football in the process. He clearly didn't mean it, and I've never felt sorrier for a footballer. Such a shame to go out that way for the player that probably contributed more to the european run last season than anyone else.

Twitter:

Mackem: Hahaha we're above u in da league

Danny Simpson: 5-1 mate #boooooom

Classic.

I can't believe Chelsea sacked the Italian. Horrible horrible club. I'm looking forward to seeing Liverpool have a big summer - we need to rip the belly out of the current squad. Bit gutted that United won the league but it's Arsenal and Chelsea's fault for being absolutely inept.

Shame Blackpool went down. They paid the price for defending so badly at times.

I actually fear for Liverpool in the transfer market. There simply aren't that many good players out there for sale and those that are will be snapped up by Man City - the rumoured amount of money they are seemingly going to throw around this summer is just horrifying. We could easily end up with some over-priced rubbish

Shame about Blackpool, the best team won the league, kinda sorry for Carlo Ancelotti but thats what you get for having 1 moderate year with Chelsea. I'll never forgive Chelsea for inflicting Avram Grant on us either.

Wow it's crazy how the predictions went and I remember being ripped for saying we'd finish so high.

I'd say across the board, our predictions were quite good. We all thought Chelsea would win the league and that Brom would struggle more than they did, but otherwise it was all pretty much within 3 or four places of the truth.

I was annoyed by our final league position initially because we could've got 8th, but realistically that's the best we'll be able to do in the league so why peak in our third season.

I'm optimistic Chelsea won't steal Pulis off us.

I hoe Chelsea go for a loveable cockney. Please take Pardew off us.

Villas Boas is the early favourite for the job with Rijkaard and Hiddink(my pick) for he job. Boas is the next special one imo.

Isn't there a paper claiming that Anceelotti is going to West Ham? I felt sorry for Blackpool, mainly because they were far better than Wolves were all season.

I think the problem with Ancelotti was that, much like Jose before him, he simply couldn't be arsed dealing with Abramovich's constant meddling. I respect him as a manager, but I certainly don't respect the club he's been managing.

This is simply the problem with Chelsea since Abramovich took over, deliver something or go home, this was set before Mourinho took over and Abramovich is still not learning that you cannot buy the Premiership every season, I bet even the players get sick of it. Question, did Torres actually score for Chelsea at all? I haven't kept watch but great investment there!

I think for me, I do feel a bit disappointed we finished 4th, but with the way they have been playing since losing the Carling Cup Final, we deserved a position to put us into perspective for next season, we seriously need to work hard to get things done. This happened a couple of seasons ago and it happened again this year, Arsenal needs a leader to carry the team, we haven't had one since Vieira left. The main things I'll take from this season is beating Barca and Man Utd which was long overdue, but it's just a consolation at best, the team has potential but we need experience.

As for the relegations, this was purely down to the luck of the draw, Birmingham messed it up, Blackpool were screwed from the go (and I did like them), Wolves literally skinned it, but they'll be down next year no problem.

So relegated Birmingham have European football next season?

I disagree with the idea that you simply cannot “buy” the title. People make it seem as if Man Utd didn't spend any money for the players they currently have. I mean, didn't Rooney and Berbatov cost £30 million a pop? Hell, even Nani cost almost £20 million. If you couldn't buy the Premier League Championship, then Arsenal and Tottenham would have been better placed and Blackpool wouldn't have been relegated.

Torres scored only once this season also

Arsenal, I feel sorry for.

To be honest, you got it right. Arsenal need to spend a bit of money and stop trying to buy good players at a bargain. Yes, it means that you are bringing in a lot of money on a regular basis but it never seems to go back into the team. I honestly think that Arsenal are in dire need of a leading midfielder to play alongside Fabregas, a strong defender that is in the ilk of Sol Campbell or Tony Adams. If Arsenal can get a few top quality players then they would be golden. If they could find a player like Messi or Ronaldo with the millions they bring in on each match day, then they would liekly win the league.

I feel sorry for Birmingham too. Big Eck likes to buy players for extortionate prices from the SPL and that was always good for us. I hate Mick McCarthy and I would have liked to see him go down along with Wolves. I feel for Blackburn but it would have been a shambles if they had stayed up, simply because of how bad they defended at times.

As for who might become Chelsea manager, I would like to see Martin O'Neill get a pop at it. Who knows what he could do for the club given the money they have to play around with. God knows, he has done much more with much les sin the past. Give him this opportunity and see how he does. I really think that Chelsea need someone from the UK of the ROI to bring a quality to their team that they don't seem to have.

True, but Man Utd didn't buy them all at once, and they all played their part of team building as they went along, it's something I will admit to. But the other thing is that Man Utd WILL spend the money to get the players needed, but they don't do a Chelsea or Man City and create a team overnight from a month's worth of spending, that team is a combination of investments over the years that Fergie gelled together.

Arsenal, I feel sorry for.

Well the defence question was actually sorted in the form of Thomas Vermaelen but injury fucked him over and we lost him for a whole season, he was a defensive rock and has only just come back from injury after being out a whole season, he's going to need time to get back on form. I've always said Arsenal needs Man Utd's medical team, they seem to have injuries fixed in no time at all whereas Arsenal can lose a player for ages at times, injuries is one of the key things that Arsenal suffers from the most out of the top four teams, but the biggest issue is that there isn't always ground to cover for the injured, we were lucky to have Szczesny to be a good goalie to cover for Almunia and has thus risen above him, but injuries got bad that Lehmann had to be brought back.

Arsenal don't have trouble assembling a fine first team, it's backup they have trouble with, they have no-one to cover ground where Man Utd can be fine, I mean look at the FA Cup match against Arsenal, that was a team with practically formed of 5/6 defenders that don't normally play and they still beat Arsenal. In the end, Arsenal are only slowly starting to develop out of the relying on Cesc policy, shades of that showed in the 1-0 victory over Man Utd when he didn't feature, but it's lacking a finishing touch, especially when they just want to walk the ball into the net rather than go for amazing goals, that's why Arshavin has lost his edge which is why saying about bring the likes of a Messi or Ronaldo in is easier said than done, Arshavin was one of them who had individual skill that trumped team effort but he was able to do his part, then his game was changed that didn't suit his style and is now suffers resentment from the Arsenal fans because he was forced to adopt to a style that didn't suit him instead of letting him run free.
