Entrance Music: For the Love of the Game by Pillar
Entrance description: For the Love of the Game as performed by Pillar blasts from the public address system, raising the fans to their feet from the pace and beat of the song. Alexander wastes no time coming out from behind the set of curtains as soon as the lyrics begin with the hood of his vest covering his head and shielding his eyes. On his way toward the ring, he slaps hands with the reaching fans on each side of the entrance aisle. Roughly half way down the aisle, Alex pauses and tosses the hood back before throwing his arms out to his sides angled slightly upward with his index fingers extended. He smiles lightly at the fans while nodding his head before he drops his arms and resumes his walk to the ring. Once at ringside, he takes a moment to tag hands around the area before sliding into the ring under the bottom rope and climbing the nearest turnbuckle to once again point out into the crowd as he did before.

The screen opens up displaying the face of SCCWs top backstage interviewer Anita Naylor; she appears to be awaiting a cue to begin speaking even though the recording light was flashing. Still no one tells her that they are recording as she finds out for herself as she notices the little red recording light on the camera is flashing.
Hello and welcome to The Hot Seat, a video interview article that is featured on SCCW.com. Im Anita Naylor and tonight, I have a special guest. She says, her voice flowing with experience, she is the top interviewer in SCCW for a reason. My guest tonight is the son of SCCWs Man of Steele, please welcome Alexander Steele.
There is a short pause as a man appearing to be 22 years old, sporting short styled light brown locks, a faddish goatee and wearing a pair of navy blue jeans and a tucked in dark grey shirt that is loose enough to appear to be the proper size yet still tight enough to display most of his muscle definition, walks into the frame and sits in the empty seat next to Anita. Alex smiles at the camera as if he were attempting to get a reaction from whoever was watching the broadcast.
Alexander, welcome to The Hot Seat, here we like to talk to up and coming SCCW wrestlers to get a feel for who they are. It helps our fans connect with the family, so first I have to ask, may I call you Alex? Anita opens up with Alex and asks him an initial question.
With a charming smile Alex simply nods his head and given no time to give a verbal answer before Anita continues on. Now I introduced you as the son of Jason Steele, and Ill be honest, none of us ever knew that Jason was a father.
Finally Alex opens his mouth to reply to her. Well, Anita, I was a secret from him for the most part. Im sure if he had of known about me when I was born, I wouldnt have gone through twelve years without a dad.
She seems completely surprised by the statement, seeing as how Jason was an asshole when he was in Canada. So you were twelve years old before you found out that independent wrestling legend Jason Steele was your father? Just how did that transpire?
Alex shrugged slightly as he began to recollect the events of his life from birth to the age of twelve. I guess my mom was one of Jasons ring rats and I was conceived after one of his last West Coast shows. After hed gone, my mother tried to raise me and I know it was difficult for her. We were more or less poor, every pay check my mom got went to paying the bills and to feed us, there was rarely any money left over for anything else. She lost her job a few months before I turned eleven, after that we were living off of her unemployment.
I think I see where this is going. She stated as she nodded slowly, figuring that his biological mother had passed away then.
Hearing Anita interrupt him caused an eyebrow to rise, though he continued to display a measure of happiness on his face. Maybe, with my mother jobless and me unable to work, I continued school but was eventually pulled out of my home with my mother thanks to child services. It was then that I found out that Jason Steele was my father, they contacted him but he wouldnt accept that he had a son until a paternity test was completed.
And needless to say, it turned out positive. Knowing Jason from his days in SCCW, I can only imagine what kind a father he was to you. She finished the story for Alex and continued on with the interview, not missing a beat.
You know, I hear that a lot, but to be completely honest, Jason was the best dad I couldve ever asked for. He was loving and caring. He paused and chuckled at the face that Anita was making. Surprising I know, Ive managed to find some of his old promos and matches and he was a mean bastard. But there were three things that have calmed him down.
Curious now that hed mentioned it Anita wanted to know what those things were. What are those three things, Alex?
Getting married, being injured, and finding out he had a son. He spoke without so much as a single pause; it was as if he knew the question was coming before it had been verbalized.
Anita nodded slightly as a new question formulated. So the Man of Steele is injured and married, is he? I had heard rumors that he was permanently retired from wrestling, does this have anything to do with his injury?
He knew where the question was going when he heard the mention of a rumor. Alex had to answer this question many a time whether it is from pro wrestling promoters or MMA promoters. It has everything to do with his injury actually. See, the time line flows in that he found out that I was his son, and then he married a nurse while we were living in Boston, and then during a match he collapsed clutching his leg. I ran down to the ring with the EMTs and we managed to get him out of the ring and to the ambulance. Long story short, dad was diagnosed with an infarction in his right thigh muscle.
Now just what does that mean? She asked, obviously not a nurse or doctor, since she was in a position that a journalist would have.
Alex has already gotten used to having to explain this to people as well. Thankfully his mother was a nurse and had explained it to him so that he could understand it since he had zero interest in medical science. Its when there is tissue death due to lack of blood, they had to put him out due to the extreme pain he was in. Mom had a choice of either having his leg amputated or having the dead muscle removed. She went with the latter of the two options; he now has to walk with a cane. So that means no more wrestling or fighting like he used to be able to do.
She nods in understanding as he listens to Alex go on about his fathers condition. Once he stops talking, Anitas eyes shift some, indicating a new set of questions. So Ive been wondering since we began this sit down, are you following in your fathers footsteps? Ive read over some of your accomplishments from college, and seeing that youre now here in the world of professional wrestling, it might appear that you are.
He raises a hand to lightly scratch at an itch along his chin, his fingers dig slightly into his goatee as he listens to the question and statement made. Realizing its his cue to answer, he smiles and lowers his hand down to his lap. Not really, I mean I used to watch my dad in the ring and he was a great athlete, there is no doubt about that, but Im not into that whole mixed martial arts scene like he was. Im a pure wrestler; I try not to talk about my accomplishments because people begin to get an image in their head of what they should expect. Im the kind of guy that is here in this industry to have fun and if I happen to win a few titles along the way its all the more better. But right now, I just want to be able to show the crowds what I offer in my abilities.
She smiles lightly at Alexs reply, recalling how much of an ass Jason was. I take it then, that we should not expect you to be the asshole your father was. You appear to be a polite young man, a quality that is rarely found in todays youth.
He nodded slightly and shrugged, statements like that had bothered him in the past as it truly seemed that people didnt realize what kind of man Jason Steele truly was. This was a shadow that he would have to rise out of, and he knew it. Like I said, Anita, I couldnt have asked for a better father. He taught me a lot of things, brought me up to be polite and respectful, to be a man of my word, and to never quit just to name a few. He instilled in me, my love for wrestling, and thanks to both of my parents, not my real mother mind you, I was given every opportunity to succeed in wrestling.
Now, you said earlier that youre a pure wrestler and just now youve mentioned that you were given every opportunity to succeed. Can you elaborate on that? She seemed to be intrigued by Alex, digging more into his life with each question she could possibly think of.
My step mother is from a wealthy family, so I was able to afford to go to any college even without a scholarship, and thanks to Jasons connections in the world of MMA, I was able to train some of the best wrestlers in the world. Replying with a shrug, he thought nothing of it really. Sure he lived a fairly lax life when at home, but his father made sure to push him to limits.
She thought for a second, this created a pause giving Alex plenty of time to push his fingers through his hair. Who are these wrestlers you were able to train with?
When Anita finally asked him the question he raised an eyebrow and then smiled at her. I got to train with Matt Hughes for about a month, Brock Lesnar for a couple weeks, but mostly I got to train with Georges St-Pierre
Thats an impressive list of wrestlers, and looking over your accomplishments again, you appear to be something like a wrestling prodigy. She smiled, though her statement of the word prodigy made Alex cringe.
He shook his head instantly; he hated being called a wrestling prodigy. He didnt want to raise peoples hopes for him too high, he wanted to impress but not to be expected to impress. A wrestling prodigy, lord no, Im just a guy that likes to wrestle. I have a passion for it and that pushes me to perform at my very best levels. I always hated going to meets and being introduced as a prodigy. I honestly think it takes away from watching my ability, people begin to expect to see certain things and what not, but Im human. I really just have a passion and love for wrestling. Thats why Ive taken it to this level, I dont want to compete on a world stage, Im not ready for it because I understand that there are a boat load of people that are better than I am. That and I dont want the fun drained out of this.
She smiled lightly, his answer was very humble and yet still confident. Well, Alex, thats all the time we have for this edition of The Hot Seat, is there anything youd like to add?
There is a short pause as Alex shifts on his seat, thinking for a moment of what hed like to say. He then smiles lightly at the camera having figured it out. Um... well I suppose Id like to thank all the fans even though theyve never seen me in the ring. Im going to do my very best to make sure you guys dont leave the shows disappointed with at least my matches.
She smiles lightly at Alex as she addresses him. Thank you for sitting down with me Alex; this concludes this edition of Off the Road. Well see you here next week at the same time with a new up and coming star of SCCW. Good night Barrie.
With a small wave from Anita, the show has come to its conclusion. Some credits scroll over the screen as the scene shows Alex still somewhat talking to Anita, this time their conversation seems to be more laid back than before. The scene fades to black before an online commercial airs for SCCWs official sponsor Molson Canadian.
