Actors with powerful voices

.

We shy worth hair
There are plenty of actors in the industry these days who are most regarded for their powerful voices. They usually have the ability to sway our emotions by just speaking and nothing more. There are plenty of examples of this and some actors made a large part of their career out of the fact that they had a great set of lungs. This isn't necessarily actors who can sing but rather those who often are used for narratives in films. While there are many people who completely devote their lives to just voice acting my top ones are those who can be successful in both live action and in voice acting. Here are a few examples of my favourite voice actors:

Orson Welles - Noted for his innovative dramatic productions as well as his distinctive baritone voice and personality. Before he broke out in film and made Citizen Kane, he was working in radio when his radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells brought him instant fame. He broke out in film and made many memorable films though none as memorable and distinctive as his first one.

Morgan Freeman - A man who arguably has the best voice in Hollywood right now. His narrative work in films like March of the Penguins & Shawshank Redemption are what made in stand out. He is often parodied in television ads as his voice is seen as something that would help anything it involves itself in. His dramatic voice is truly a great thing.

Malcolm McDowell - One of my favourite actors and a man who doesn't seem to ever turn down work he's given. Also well known for playing leaders and charismatic figures.Whether it be television, films or even video games McDowell has lended his voice to that medium at least one time. From playing a grandfather in the popular Disney program Phineas and Ferb, or narrating in the seminal documentary The Compleat(Not a typo) Beatles and even voicing Enclave leader John Henry Eden in the critically acclaimed game Fallout 3.

Who are your favourite voice actors?

Hmmm I would have to say other than the ones you mentioned, I would go with.

1.) leam nesion (Sp) kinda hard to not have a commanding voice when playing a jesus type character, also the seen in taken when he's on the phone with the kidnappers I got chills.

2.) laruance fishborn- his performance in the matrix was well the best next to hugo weaving.

3.) patrick staurt- his voice is well rounded and the speech in first contact about drawing the line against the borg has stuck with me for years.

Three that come to mind would be -

Al Pacino - He is quite a shouty actor at times, but in Heat he balances it out consistently throughout the whole film. When he's talking about the job with his girlfriend he sounds beleaguered and weary, yet when he confronts Hank Azaria's character and delivers the, "She's got a BIG ASS!" line, the ferocity and eccentricity catches him completely off-guard. In the recent Empire magazine, Hank himself said he was genuinely terrified of Al at that point.

Robert De Niro - The best film for his range I think would be Casino. There's one scene where he repeats one line three times, but the manner in which he says it completely differs from the line to line. "Can I trust you?" - rhetorical, "Can I trust you? - genuinely asking Sharon Stone, "Can I trust you? - asking himself. Throughout the film he carries an essence of cool restrain and composure, so when his voice rises at any point in the film it is a telling sign of what may be in store.

Paul Newman - The guy was cooler than cool. From his early work on The Hustler, Cool Hand Luke, through to his collaborations with Robert Redford in Butch Cassidy... and The Sting and into his final years with Road to Perdition, the guy could carry the essence of the character in his voice. Best example would be The Hustler where he talks fast and cocky at the table, then frequently raises his voice later in the film where he gets frustrated with himself and his situation.

That's all I have for now.
