About Photoshop....

ShinChan

Gone. For. Good.
So since I've a personal computer now, I want to learn Photoshop. I know nothing about it yet. I wanted some suggestions from someone who use it.

How to start? I mean, where to get the software? I won't ask for a recent version as an older version will fare better in my old-ish computer.

Other than that, I would like to know any basics that you can share.

Also, it doesn't need to be only Photoshop. Any other good program, you can suggest it as well

Also, I won't afford to buy it. A free version or something.

Adobe CS2 was free for a while (not sure if it still is). That might be something worth trying though, even if it is a little older at this point.

Photoshop Creative Suite: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html

If not, GIMP is and always will be free and while there are some minor differences, most of the same concepts will apply: https://www.gimp.org/

As far as learning the program, it will just take time. There are several tutorials out there on how to use Photoshop, and while each version adds a few new tweaks, most of the concepts remain similar across all versions. The biggest suggestion I can make is to figure out what exactly you want to learn to do first (signature banners on WZ, for example) and then learn it first. The biggest thing to remember is that Photoshop is image manipulation software, not really image creation software. This means you make edits to existing photos, you don't really use it to create graphics from scratch (though you still can, if you really want).

EDIT: I also just realized my post is a few weeks late, but I've been pretty busy and late is better than never.

Just to add something important in here: the favorite image creation isn't a software, it's more hardware. Nowadays it's called a Digital Camera, I believe. Fucking smarks.

Depends on what one is trying to accomplish. Certainly photography plays a role, but there are many people out there, for various reasons, creating images with software. It's not as uncommon as you may think.
