A Vision of a Unified WWE

I'm not saying this would happen at all, but what if it did...
Say WWE wanted to get rid of the brand split, and unify all the titles.
IMO, this would split the wrestlers into actual divisions again, which is good because it gives the titles more prestige, and we would have reasons for watching mid-card matches again.

Here's what I think should go down:

Night of Champions 2009:
Women's Champion: Mickie James
Cruiserweight Champion: Chavo Guerrero
Tag Team Champions: Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes
Intercontinental Champion: Kane
WWE World Champion: Randy Orton

See, then we'd have actual competitions between all wrestlers to get to a championship. We could see things like Kofi vs. Shelton, or even Undertaker vs. John Cena for the #1 contenders spot. Anything is possible. And the ECW brand could be a place where the Tag Titles and Cruiserweight Titles get defended on occasion. Instead of trying to make people believe Jack Swagger is an actual World Champion, he could be fighting for the I.C. Title against Kane or something like that. The ratings would go up, because somebody would lose a title on Raw, and people would tune into Smackdown on Friday to see what happens. It would be great!

What do you guys think?

They would have to cut 1/3 of the roster, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

And they should get rid of ECW and just focus on making every week a combination of World title, IC, Tag, European. Thats 4 hours a week w/ raw and smackdown.

say like 1.5 are toward the main eventers. 1 for the midcarders, 1 for the tag titles and half hour for the lowcard euro title.

this would be best for me, and for god sake go back to having a PPV every 4th or 5th week and not 3rd like it is now.

Hey new here....

While I like the idea for a Unified WWE, I like it for this reason: There are just too many people on the roster. A unified WWE will condense the group and you could have better match-ups on Mon/Thu. And under/unused talent (Birchall, Koslov, Kendrick) can develop on ECW.

It makes sense, but this is WWE....

Uh.... yeah, and we'd have less main eventers, so Christian would forever, mid-carder, CM Punk and The Hardys would never main event EVER again even if everyone wants to see them become one world champions again, Shelton Benjamin would be a jobber, and so on... I guess that's great for you.

I have been saying this for years.

I'll tell you whay this is a good idea for the WWE.

Viewing figures.

I personally NEVER watch Smackdown. For me the "main" show is RAW, so i only watch RAW and PPVs.

Jump back before the WCW takeover, i would never miss Smackdown. There were storylines involving the Rock, Stone Cold etc that would finish on a cliffhanger monday night Raw and make you unable to miss Smackdown.

The WWE are crazy if they don't think this is a good idea. They would save millions each year in wages once they get rid of all the dead wood, split accross three rosters and their viewing figures for Smackdown would almost certainly be higher, thus increasing advertising revenue for the networks and stregthening future contact negotiations with TV networks.

I think a Unified WWE is sort of like a double edged sword.

Reasons for: Higher ratings, seeing the Main-Eventers twice a week (which you kind of do anyways), Fewer Championships which means the titles will mean more, more storyline flow, more big matches

Reasons against: Instead of seeing 40 guys each week, you'll see 20. Guys will get stale A LOT faster if they have to appear on tv 4 times a week. With the new Superstars show coming up, you can't oversaturate certain guys. Guys who are stale on top now will get even staler which means the audience will start to tune out more. Storylines will end faster and guys will run out of people to work with faster. Fewer titles = fewer superstars so you'll see a lot more scrubs turning up in TNA while guys like Petey Williams and Jimmy Rave get shown the door. In other words, the hard workers will be sacrificed to the people with name recognition.

I'm personally against the Unified WWE. I was against splitting up the roster when they did it because back then they had Austin, the Rock, the nWo, the Undertaker, Hogan, Triple H, Jericho, Mr. Perfect. They had an outstanding roster of guys there at the time. I wanted to see it on every show. Now, with the current roster I'm glad I can choose a show to watch because it keeps me more interested and I don't get sick of guys nearly as quick. Plus guys I was already sick of (Triple H, Cena) I don't have to see, I can just watch the other show and avoid them most of the time. I like the idea of 2 brands. Not 3. ECW is now Heat. I think the brand split should have happened a year or 2 after it did, when half the roster left. I'm happy with it now and the draft always makes for good TV. So I hope it continues.

One thing I don't want...BRAND ONLY PPV'S!!! I hated the Smackdown only ppv's because they'd always have 2 good matches and 4 or 5 stinkers. Raw would have 3 good matches and 3 stinkers and then there would be filler like Austin vs Bischoff in a redneck triathlon or something.
