A Triple Threat Match Featuring.... The Best!

The Doctor Of Veganomics!!!
Quick question boys and girls....

Chris Jericho claims to be, "The best in the world at what he does".

CM Punk claims the title, "Best in the world"

Bret is, "The best there is, was, and ever will be".

If there was a triple threat match featuring these three guys in their peak primes (I think Punk's prime qualifies as of now in this day and time), who would win and why?

Would it be bret's ring savvy? How about Jericho's cunning heel nature and underhanded tactics? How would Punk pull it off? Who would be the Best Of The BEST in your opinion???

I think in reality Bret would win because he'd put up the bigger fight about having to lay down. The only other option would be Bret has it won and either heel Jericho or heel Punk "steals the win" so Bret can still look like the best without winning the match. Jericho and Punk neither seem to mind taking a loss as long as they steal the show. As far as who would win in the sense that they really are the best I think Punk is better all-around than the others. Bret is more technically sound and Jericho is better at manipulating the crowd and having them eat out of the palm of his hand but Punk can brawl, wrestle fast or slow paced matches, has more submission moves that he applies than the other two (and no one ever taps to the Walls of Jericho anymore anyway), and is also very technically sound.

For the sake of argument, if wrestling was a legit sport and this was based simply on ability, I would say Chris Jericho would win. Jericho is the best overall in-ring wrestler in the history of the sport in my book, my vote goes to him.

Bret Hart hands down. if it were pure in ring ability.

Jericho and Punk and close in ring ability but Jericho gets the vote for overall performer in my opinion.

Punk gets rather bland on the mic and Bret as a face is very limited on the mic, as a heel when it was personal he was great tho.

Well first off, for any of you that watch CSR, the debate on a wrestlers "prime" was ongoing & both co-hosts featured a different opinion of "prime". One considered it to be a "superstars" athletic prime and one considered it more as a career prime.

Athletic Prime:
This is when they are young but not green. Their body is holding up the best & they are at their physical peak. This would probably be mid-late 80's Hart Foundation Bret, Early 90's Liontamer Jericho, & Early 2000's ROH Punk.
-In this "prime" I'd probably go with Bret Hart. He was practically a wrestling genius as a young man (not that it has changed but you would expect it from a grizzled vet.) He was the most technically sound then & really coming into his own.

Career Prime:
This is more of a "King of the Mounatin" prime. When a wrestler is looked at as "the guy", winning wolrd titles, or just at the most memorable or "highest" point in their career. So more like Bret in double matches at Mania in the mid-90's, Jericho as undisputed champ in the early 2000's, & Punk from MitB 2011-currently.
-In this "prime" I would go with Punk. He has really come full circle as an indie star & is probably the most over out of all of them (minus Bret in Canada. No offense but Bret is only a "national star" or "hero" or whatever in Canada. Everywhere else he is just a damn good wrestler.) Punk is a finely tuned "superstar" now & is the most all around solid performer IMO. He has the ring ability & technical skills the others do, with the mic skills of Jericho & the versatility of Bret. Punk has become the complete package.

Since this is a fantasy match in the first place, why not throw Austin Aries into the mix? I know he's a TNA/RoH guy, but he does claim to be "The Greatest Man that Ever Lived" - and the current TNA/Impact Heavyweight Champion of the World. If it became a Fatal Four Way in a WWE Ring, A-Double wouldn't have a chance in hell of winning...Vince would never let a guy who first got over in another company beat three of his own "creations" (yes, I know Jericho first got over as a cruiserweight in WCW, and Punk first got noticed at RoH, but went on to become WWE staples...unlike Aries, at least as of now). If Aries were to come to WWE, and keep his "Greatest Man that Ever Lived" catch phrase, and was built up over a few years (similar to how Punk and/or Jericho was built) he could become a viable opponent for the other three.

In keeping with the spirit of the thread, I'll just keep the original three in mind (Hart, Punk & Y2J). If somehow all three could be in their prime for this match, I'd have to say that Bret gets the pin/submission. This would be one hell of a match though, one I would be extremely excited to see. Could you imagine if we got to see Daniel Bryan vs. Austin Aries on the undercard? We're talking Wrestlemania quality right there.

I'd want to see Jericho be the winner of the match, but Bret would be politicking backstage to make sure he came out on top. As great as Bret was in his prime, he also seemed like a whiner who never wanted to lose. Jericho and Punk seem more likely to be willing to "job", for the good of the business. Then again, I don't know how any of these guys really are backstage - so I might be way off base here. Again, all I know is that this is one match I would have loved to see.

This is a really cool thread, and for me the clear answer is The Best there is, was and ever will be. Bret has always been a student of the game. He was born into wrestling and was one of the smartest wrestlers I have ever had the pleasure to watch. He carried the WWE in a time when the Hogan's and the Savages were winding down their WWE careers. In this fantasy matchup I think the Canadians would work together to take Punk out of the match, and after a hard fought battle Bret would reverse the Liontamer into the sharpshooter, and Jericho would be forced to tap. What a great match to see if all were in their primes.

Bret Hart no question, I was one of the fans that stayed loyal in the mid 90s lull and saw Bret Hart's rise to champion and departure later on. He was built as a fighting champion, someone that would take on anyone on the roster and have an epic match. Hart made guys like Skinner and Rad Radford look like main eventers.

I just don't view Jericho as the best, he is the Randy Savage of this era: a big star in his own right but a strong #2 to another star (Austin, Rock, later Cena). Punk is getting there, and I think him being aligned with Heyman should buy him a little more time with the WWE Title. Punk is clearly the better talker, but Hitman was never about talking he just brought it in the ring. When Punk retires I may change my mind, but until then the Hitman is in a class of his own.
