Installing a web server, with MySQL and PHP on a Linux machine is not easy...and it takes forever. I've grown tired of all the waiting.

Yuck, have you tried going with an Apache server instead? Not exactly sure what you're using the web server for, but I've read good things about setting up a machine as an Apache server. If you need reference I have it around here somewhere on my machine.

That's the web server I'm using. I'm doing the LAMP package.

Like I said, I've set one up on a Windows machine, but now I'm trying it on a Linux machine, for a few reasons.

1) I had the WAMP on my laptop...and my laptop isn't always on, but it is always slow.

2) I don't want to put OpenSUSE 11 on my regular machine, so I put it on my other desktop machine.

3) The servers we use at the school I work are SUSE server operating systems...linux based.

So, I'm just trying to work my way around. We just recently gained the ability at school to serve PHP scripts, so now I want to learn how to use them to do some cool things. IF we can ever get a our tech guy to map the drives...
