A Gimmick you loved that went nowhere

I was watching some random stuff on YouTube, and it made me think of something. What gimmick or gimmicks do you think was/were cool but went nowhere? The reason for the thread was Mordecai.
I liked the Mordecai gimmick. He had the cool "anti-'Taker" thing going on, light vs. dark, had some kick ass theme music, the fire, pyro, the look was cool, the vignettes were awesome, I mean this should have been the makings of an awesome feud w/the Undertaker. Kevin Thorn in this role was very good, and I was expecting a lot more out of this. He destroyed a few people, but also lost to Rey, which I felt might have helped slow down the momentum of the character. I heard tell that he was thought to be too green and that getting in a bar fight also helped his bump back down to OVW, but I thought this should have been given more of a chance.
So what gimmick or gimmicks did you like that went nowhere?

It pains me that he's not making it with this gimmick. He has a devout fan base,a kickass theme song, and some of the best trunks to pass through that curtain. One day Zack...one day.

well the most recent one i remember is eli cottonwoods "mustache" gimmick. wwe tried to use that as his catch praise after one of the competions on nxt.

I loveds the Charlie Haas imitation gimmick. It was great comedy when he came out dressed as JBL, with a match with JBL! Him dressing up as Jim Ross was done well, as was him doing John Cena. For a minute, I thought Cena was returning early from his injury back in 2007. I think Haas only hit the tip of the iceburg of where he could have gone with that gimmick before the plug was pulled with no explanation. He was spot on in both the mannerisms and movesets of the wrestlers he was emulating.

Mordecai for sure. If he had actually gotten a good feud to start him off or something, he could be up there as the Anti - Taker or something. Also Hade Vansen, we saw a vignette but he never got to even debut. This gimmick seemed like it could have been amazing as well.

Berlyn: Techno-loving Alex Wright gets repackaged as a snobby German who comes out to O Fortuna from Carmina Burana, refuses to speak English, and rips on Americans. He also had a hot translator with the unfortunate name of Uta Ludendorff. Too bad this happened in late WCW and no one really cared anymore. Under the right circumstances, I think it could have gone somewhere besides right into the garbage. It probably didn't help he was booked to feud with Buff Bagwell, who refused to take a loss.

Ok, I'm glad I posted in the spam section, because I have no clue how to get the video to actually show instead of just the link. Somebody help me out here, because I'm so old school, technology has passed me by. lol I've tried everything under the advanced posting section, tried getting the embed video code from YouTube, everything. Help me out here. Thanks.

Is it just me, or does DJ Gabriel look suspiciously like alex wright?

AWWWWWWWWWWWWW YYYYEEEAH

I had a thread in this section about DJ Gabriel. It was one hilarious gimmick, and the wrestler portraying him wasn't bad either. He could have worked heel or face, whether the crowd thought his dancing was funny or annoying. And Alicia Fox looked good back then...daaaaamn.

Oh and:

I'm not joking, Kizarny had a TON of potential. If they had let him work as a creepy heel, or at the very least actually cut an intelligible promo in his vignettes, he could have gotten over as a unique and strange character. I love strange gimmicks, and Kizarny could have been a good lower midcarder. Oh well. :(

I was second row ringside for that match. I feel so special! :D

As far as mine, I would say Muhammad Hassan. He was a great wrestler and nailed his character, and WWE must've had confidence in him since I hear that they were planning on making him World Champ. He could've been a solid main eventer! :(

That's not true. It went somewhere, and it was going somewhere further, until that stupid angle with the piano wire that aired on the day of the London Bombings.
