A Dave Signature? No way!?

So, I kinda felt the itch to make a new signature yesterday and completely indulged myself. All I knew I wanted was a gold signature to match Coco's recently vacated avatar of Evan Bourne that I had my eye on. So, with a fire in my belly and no ideas in my head, I opened Photoshop.

Eventually, I came out with this...

Honestly, I reckon it is one of the best pieces of work I have did in a long time and really gave me the thirst to get stuck back into my graphic work.

With the image of Lupe Fiasco the only thing I had, everything was created using nothing more than what Photoshop gives you. That kid who said he only used what Photoshop came with inspired me. Needless to say, I am happy with my work.

I duplicated the render all over the canvas before adding some motion blurs and sharpening it. I then added a few gradient maps and new styles to the image before adding in the main render again. I wanted a flow to it because of the render and I think I accomplished that with the motion blurs. I then added some dark shading around the edges before adding in some light behind and in front of the main render. Finally, I added some more curves and a golden gradient map to finish it off.

What do you guys think?

It's a decent piece, and I enjoy it.

But, with that being said I think you can do better then this. I could sit here all day and tell you what I like about it, but that won't help you any. So, I'll tell you what I'd do different, just a few ideas coming from my point of view.

1. The gold in this one, is very cool, but it's overpowering in a way. When I look at a piece, I want to see some uniqueness, something that makes me say- "Oh Yeah, Dave did this." In this one, I don't see a style. Or something that really catches my eye. The render, in my opinion is a little to "buried" by the lighting, but that can also be a good thing to people who like that kind of stuff. Sometimes, my problem is I don't so enough of this kind of stuff, I mean fading and those sort of things.

2. Text. I have no idea who that guy is in the piece, with out you telling me in the description. I also don't know what this signature is for, is it because you like Fiasco, or because he's an Efed character or what. Some text would do this piece some good. You could just fade "Fiasco" is there somewhere or something, anything to add something different to it.

Like I said, I really like this and I could sit here and tell you all I like about it, but I'd rather point out what I would have done different. I also can appreciate that you did this with just a picture of him and what photoshop gave you.

One thing I will say I love about this piece, is the simplicity of it, I really respect that.

Good job.

Love it. First off, I think you really prove that you don't need anything but what Photoshop gives you to make a damn good sig. I've always believed that and I barely ever download any add-ons.

Now, onto the sig. The motion blurs do wonders for it, they add to the flow of the signature and coupled with the light source at the bottom they really give it all a nice effect. Speaking of the light source, I think it's a great spot to put it, as it pulls my attention to the render right away. Also, I really like the colors and the cubes in the background, it adds depth to the signature.

Anyway, 8.5/10.
