A "Bone Collector" gimmmick, could it work?

i just recently got this idea, but what if a superstar started a gimmick where after he beat down an opponet he collected something of theirs,and started wearing is, like a hat, a jacket a necklace, etc. Now i know this gimmick may seem stupid and childish and i know for people like,say wade barret they dont wear anything specific so what would the collector collect? but this seems like it would work out pretty good. if WWE was to do this type of gimmick who would you want to play this character? and what are your views on this? i think orton would be a good fit for this it matches his viper gimmick a little bit. so what do you guys think? you'll probalyy hate it but,oh well.

NO, because we kind of had that already with Cryme Tyme and look what happened there. It was not really the same, but they were stealing shit non the less. I think that would diminish Orton's career. Plus, he would be just promoting the other wrestler's items instead of his own.

Wow, I really like this idea of a gimmick on someone like Tyler Reks or another monster heel. First he'll start squashing jobbers and taking one of their boots or something noticeable on their person, then he can move on to more mainstream superstars. He can take JTG's glasses, Chavo's bandanna, and it can culminate in a match where if Reks wins, he takes Mysterio's mask. Of course, Rey goes over here, but it would be a good way to launch Reks into the main event.

Or perhaps when Mason Ryan is ready to set out on his own he can adopt this gimmick, but on a more main event level. He can take JoMo's fur coat, Kofi's headband, and maybe even steal a victory from Undertaker where he steals his hat.

Really love the idea, I think it could do a lot of good to help get someone over. I don't know how effective it would be if applied to a main eventer, but at the very least it could help build some heel heat.

Yes I believe this could work. But this has been done before: remember Lionheart Chris Jericho in WCW? He had a gimmick similar to this wear he stole various wresters items such as ,,,,,Juvi and Reys masks, Prince Iakeau's leis, Malenko's vest etc.... done in the same vain I feel it could be a success

I love it!!! Absolutely great idea, if they found the right wrestler to pull it off, would make for a great storyline on either brand, love to see someone like that feud with The Undertaker

This sounds like something that would have worked in the early to mid 90s. It’s not a bad idea and I think it could be interesting for a little while. I’m with JGlass. This character could start by taking things off the low card guys working his way to a bigger angle. Once the bigger angle is ends I think the gimmick would end too. I like it as a short term gimmick but I don’t think it has much staying power. I like the fact that it could be a true gimmick. Gimmicks have been replaced by personalities and we don’t have many actual gimmicks anymore.

Now that I think about it didn’t Jean Pierre Lafitte do something like this in 1995? Not that that matters as I’m sure there are a good percentage of people here who have never heard of Jean Pierre Lafitte.

Yes it has already been stated that Chris Jericho did this in WCW back in 1998. It was funny and awesome and got him over with the crowd. With the right person it could work. Chris Jericho is a legend, living up to what he did would be pretty difficult.

It's true that previous characters have stolen items from wrestlers they've beaten, but so far as I can tell, it's been simply humiliation of one specific wrestler or used in a somewhat comical vein. There's another option open though, which I think is what you're going for: the morbid "serial killer" type of souvenir taking.

It could work. Have this character be a really vicious type, give him a really sick finisher, and have him remove something from each of his "victims" to keep. I wouldn't recommend having him wear them unless he simply takes a strip of fabric from the costume or some such and wears it on a necklace or belt. It could work, at least for a beginning, although even that aspect would get old after a while, rather like Skinner's habit of spitting his tobacco plug into his opponent's mouth after beating him.

I think I have heard of Jean Pierre Lafitte. If he's the guy I'm thinking of, then it just went along with his gimmick as a pirate and made some sense, I suppose.

Yup, Jean Pierre Lafitte stole Bret Hart's ring jacket back in 1995, they had a PPV match at In Your House 2, I think it was and Bret beat him to reclaim it.

As far as the idea goes, I think given the right person it could be really interesting to see develop. As has been said, the guy could start small, maybe just start by taking someone's t-shirt from their bag in the locker room, then working up to the big leagues, like Undertaker's hat. He could either take it mid-match with 'Taker, or just come down to ringside when 'Taker is fighting someone else and make off with it, causing 'Taker to get counted out when he pursues... Then the following week, cue a creepy vignette with the character at some sort of shrine with the hat as the main focal point...

Not sure exactly who could pull it off though?

I love this gimmick because it would fit well with my idea of an underused gimmick in WWE or Pro Wrestling as a whole. How about a Maniacal Clown who steals peoples items after the match.... O.O

I already have two perfect participants for this Clown gimmick and those two are CM Punk and Jericho, although I'd prefer it if CM Punk did the gimmick. It would involve him doing crazy things and on the whole getting the children of the audience (and some adults) to squirm. He can literally get away with anything with this gimmick and maybe have some great moments like Million Dollar Man hitting the ball away from that kid *lol*.

If you add to this your stealing personal belongings idea I think it would be seriously unique and it would need someone of CM Punk/Jericho's ability to pull it off. CM Punk can easily switch from this current self harming wacko to a ... self harming wacko?

WWE had a guy by the name of Repo man in the early 90's who took things from people an had what was supose to be a "maniacal laugh" the only people i recall him beating were jobbers. he was also Previously Smash of Demolition, an later the Black Top Bully (corect me if wrong) I do remember Godfather as Kama the supreme fighting machine stealing undertakers urn an melting it into a chain. I think repo man stole the takers urn 1 time.. But if done right I think it'd work better givin to the right guy.

This sounds like a really good idea. It could work as a new guy comming in and getting upset victories over mid carders then main eventers. He could steal t-shirts, trousers, shoes and other things that wrestlers have/wear. It could set up a great fued with Undertaker with the new guy trying to steal the soul of undertaker. They could fight at wrestlemania for the streak.
This guy could create a shrine with everything he has taken which will make him look stockerish.

What about Seth Rollens (Tyler Black). He could play an Elitist that takes things from anyone he beats or is jeolous of. Siting that "You don't deserve this (insurt Object), after the way you just wrestled". Or a gambler, who conives wrestler into betting somthing or someone (A diva). Imagine Seth vs Jomo for Melina's services. And after he loses he takes Melina and his fur coat. Then saying somthing like " I've taken your girl, your fans, and now your coat. I am John Morrison. You are no-one"

you hit the nail on the head with what i was going for, the creepy serial killer trophy type deal. and as to who would play it someone brought up tyler reks, he would be great for a gimmick like this. oh and i didnt start watching wrestling untill about 1999 or 2000 and i didnt know chris jericho or this jean piere lafitte did a gimmick like this, sorry. but i feel some of you think this gimmick as a humilation playful gimmick, yes it could be taken as this but i mean it as klown karnage took it, as a serial killer,disturbed mind, type role.

I think that this would be a great gimmick. But ima guess on a grander scale. Instead of just stealing ring attire or props, what if finishers were stolen? What if Entrance Music was stolen? What is a whole persona was copied and stolen? I mean, what if mason ryan came out one week, beat ezekiel jackson with the book of ezekiel. THen beat kane with a chokeslam. Then the next week, make fire come from the ring corners. Just Saying..........

It would have to be a character that acted like a dark silent assassin where he loves to fight and loves his opponents to be tough. After he destroys his opponents and I mean destroy them, he takes something from his victims like a trophy.

Indeed a heel character like this would be refreshing especially in an industry filled with cocky play boy heels whose characters are identical to the other.

Somehow I cant quite see the WWE turning either CM Punk or Jericho into a clown.....interesting thought though. Punk COULD play that role well, he is talented enough to, but they wont consider that


Back to this gimmick...I like the idea of it. Something similar has been done in the past, but that has never stopped the basic elements of a gimmick from being recycled. I think this would be a good way for a new monster heel to get over. As others have suggested, this gimmick could fit the Tyler Recks wildman persona (as like a trophy of a kill), and launch him up the card. If he started taking things from the lower card superstars he squashed, then adding them to his ring attire, he could eventually move up the card and perhaps end up fighting Kane....stealing his mask from backstage or something like that. I do not know how this would work, but it was just a thought. I would like to see Recks coming out to fight Kane wearing the old Kane mask....

Anyway, interesting idea. When I read this OP I immediately thought of Dolph Lundgen in Universal Soldier where he wears a necklace made from the ears of his victims. Recks could wear a necklace with parts of his opponents gimmicks, or something along those lines.

Whatever they decided to do, I think it could work
