The Foo Fighters took down the juggernaut that is Nirvana, and I see no reason why they shouldn't just roll over the Stone Temple Pilots here. The Foo Fighters are such a diverse and awesome band, they can basically play any genre of rock music and Dave Grohl's voice is truly great and IMO is very under-rated. These guys are on a roll and I see them advancing to the regional semis for a date w/ Greenday/Offspring, I think they can go to the finals but we'll see.

Keep the Foo train rollin people!! They truly are a phoenomenal band.

In the 1980 Winter Olympics, the US defeated the heavily favored Soviet Union team. Despite the landslide upset, the US still had to play Finland to win the Gold Medal. They were down 2-1 in the 2nd period before rallying for a 4-2 win. The moral of the story?

Just because the Foo's beat the top seed doesn't mean they are rolling over ANYBODY, especially musical legends like STP. I backed STP here because I felt they came along early enough to totally influence the musical landscape, whereas the Foo Fighters are a fantastic band who only existed because of the disbanding of Nirvana and the death of Cobain.

I am not saying I'd be crushed if the Foo's beat STP here, but I am certainly not ready to hand them the regional crown yet, either.

Well IC, this isn't the 1980's Winter Olympics, and Foo are simply better than STP, IMO STP should have never gotten past Pantera, but they did, Foo Fighters are on of the single most talented bands I have heard in the last 20 yrs., and are very deserving of the regional crown, they put on great live shows, have yet to release a bad album, have unique and entertaining videos, and can appeal to just about anyone, as for you saying Foo never would have existed if not for the death of Cobain, well ypou do not know that for a fact, Dave Grohl could have eventueally grown sick of playing the depressing ass shit that Cobain was constatnly writeing and wanted to move into a more positive direction, which the Foo Fighters are, and I don't see STP being the "musical legends that changed the musical landscape" that you claim them to be, they were just another grunge band from a era filled with grunge bands IMO, don't get me wrong they were one of the better ones, but by no means do I see any reason why they should beat Foo Fighters, who are the far superior band in this match-up
