dont get me wrong, I am not trying to unban him, I just wondered why he's been banned.

He posted like 50 French jokes, most of which had to do with cowardice. Sam felt that he was being racist because their cowardice was a reaction to the German Army showing up unannounced. Some of the jokes were funny, but I have to agree with Sam, in retrospect, that some of them were over the line because the French had the largest Army in Europe on their doorstep, and they were unprepared.

Making french jokes isn't exactly racism, but it is possible to overstep the bounds of good taste with them.

I think if he had only made one, it could have been just a warning. He had like 40 of them.

Well I think it's unfair to treat different types of racism differently, but I would say that I probably wouldn't see such jokes as racist in most cases mostly because they're far more socially acceptable. I just find it odd that that's what took him out; even if it is for only a week.

His previous record and constant taunting of the staff, saying we'd never ban him didn't help things.

Valid point. If he comes back I'll tell him about the time I got past modfish by shutting up about the rules for a while, no matter how I felt about them.

I may not have been around for awhile, but I assume 48/7 got banned because he still constantly acts like an asshole. The French jokes thing sounds about right up his alley.

Sorta like The Becker thing. yea, it might be borderline, and debateable. but then again, he acts like a cock to everyone. So the sympathy level isnt exactly sky high.
