24 years on...you've still got it m'boy!

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No it's Supermod!
13 September 1985, a video game was released that would change the video games industry forever. Whilst not his first appearance in a game, nor the first with his brother, this was our introduction to the Mushroom Kingdom.

Twenty four years on and this game is still as entertaining as the day it was released. Whilst it was another year or so until the western world received it, it ripped through the Japanese market and is one of the biggest selling games of all time.

So what are you memories of Super Mario bros? Was it a game that saved the industry? Or just nothing too exciting?

Mario is thee character when it comes to video games.

No one will ever come close to creating a character like Mario ever. You look at all the games that have become very successful on games consoles and even then, they don't hold a candle to Mario. Master Chief, Tommy Vercetti, Markus Fenix, Sonic, Link. No one comes close, not even Sonic. The orignal Mario game was the first video game that I ever played and I still hold fond memories of playing it on my SNES. Mario will always be the man when it comes to video games. I don't think anyone will ever come close to the fame and idolisation that Mario has achieved.

Ah, what a game. The game that made Nintendo a powerhouse, not just in the video game world, but in the general business world.
Playing Super Mario Bros. for the first time is just one of those things that you don't forget. It was the first ever game that was, for want of a better word, unpredictable. You never know what was gonna come up. Even the game's water levels was quite revolutionary at the time.

First time I played Super Mario was christmas 1995. Admittedly, I was a bit late getting into it, but I wasn't alive in the 80's so yeah. Me and my brother had just opened up our Super Nintendo with Super Mario Allstars. We could've gone straight into Super Mario World, but we had to see what all the fuss was about and we played the original Mario first. And it was awesome.
It fresh, exciting, yet so accessible that I, as a 4 year old, was able to play it and get sucked into it.

A monumental part in gaming history, and it'll never be forgotten.
