2010-11 WWE MVP

The Fabulous Rougeau's

Championship Contender
This is really the most recent year where arguments can be made for a few different guys. I would give the nod to Cena. He begins the year after having won the title at Mania continuing his feud with Batista that lead to Batista leaving the company and finally returning at the beginning of 2014. From there he drops the title and remains in the title picture until of course we get the arrival of the Nexus and than the main storyline is Cena v Nexus. This dominates nearly the entire 2nd half of the season until Cena transitions to Mania 27 time and challenging for the WWE Title.

I give it to Cena over some of the other choices like Orton, Sheamus, Barrett and even Miz because Cena was consistently on top during the duration of the year while being involved in the biggest story of the year feuding with Nexus.

It's easy to give it to Cena but the reality is that you have to really look at Wade Barrett as being "The Guy" during this period.

To put it in perspective not only was he the leader of the Nexus but the most dominant member of them. He was winning matches, winning respect and matching anyone on the mic including Cena.

An MVP is in many ways the one who has gained the most value in a period and Barrett was that... he won NXT but had no real value but within 2-3 weeks of that Nexus debut not only looked like a main eventer but was performing as well as anyone in the company.

Where it went wrong was that they didn't put the title on him then... classic mistake on WWE's part that only really got saved by Punk's pipebomb and him sliding into that spot.

Sheamus was similar but not to the level of Barrett in that year...

What makes it tough for me to give it to Barrett is that he was only really on top for about a 4 month window roughly SummerSlam to Survivor Series. They dropped the ball on him big time. Had things been done right Barrett should have gotten the title at Survivor Series over Orton and held the title with Cena having to go through a tough road to get to Barrett at Mania with Nexus having the power and ability with Barrett as champ to put up hurdles for Cena to climb.

I really have to disagree with you guys on Cena and Barrett. It's easy to attribute MVP to one individual but I think we can all agree that the Nexus superseded any individual performance. And I'm the biggest cena fan you will meet.

I'd say Orton as he started the season as Tweener after beating his former stable members at 'mania. The crowd was hot for him and he had a nice run as top face champion. The ending of the season sorta hurt his campaign as MVP though. He feuded with Punk and New Nexus which was a notable match going into Mania 27 but due to the placement on the 'mania card, it made it seem as though it wasn't a big enough match.
