2 Gimmick Matches I'd Like to See Again

There have been two gimmick matches that haven't been repeated, and I want to see again between two current wrestlers.

- The match that Eddie and JBL had at The Great American Bash. Some call it a strap match, others call it a Texas Bull Rope match, I don't care, but I'd like to see that again. We have had Texas Bull Rope matches but not like the one they had with the four corners. Cena vs. Big Show would be great at this.

- The Last Ride match. JBL again, but this time, against Undertaker. I've always liked the Undertaker born matches, Buried Alive, Casket, Hell in a Cell, Inferno... But I quite liked this one. It was great, until Heidenrich interfered. Anyway, I want to see this at something like a Judgement Day tradition.

What do you guys think? Want to see these matches again, or got any other gimmick matches that only happened once...

Both were good matches if they are handled the right way. i believe dust rhodes and orton had a bullrope match. Not taking about from dusty the mans a legend but i rather see two superstars who will but on a hell of a show. how bout wcw's war games. or a triple cage! Ready To Rumble WCW movie anyone?

Signed up especially to post this!
I agree with FastEddie, in that I would LOVE to see the Wargames back - but it is reliant on a big stable feud to fill out the teams, otherwise it runs the risk of falling into the same trap as we ve seen on recent Survivor series, where people w no background are randomly thrown together... Still, Wargames is the bees knees!!!

HOWEVER,
what could be the answer to the same recycled matches is the return of BATTLEBOWL & the LETHAL LOTTERY!
Immediately you have a complete gimmick card, with no need to throw in random championship matches for the sake of it.
Plus we get new teams made and all that lark...

I loved em anyways!

BRING BACK THE LETHAL LOTTERY!!!!

haha they could do war games at a survivor series? and how do i start my own post? im new and cant figure it out lol

You have to have at least 10 posts before you can start your own thread. War games were great and I think the WWE should maybe consider bringing it back at some point...though I don't think Vince likes things which he didn't create so we prob won't see it happen any time soon or ever...but who knows eh? I would like to see another 60 min iron match or maybe three stages of hell again..they certainly haven't been done in a while and I think it's about time they were really...

I loved the texas bullrope match that Eddie and JBL had. Although I think its important to let you know, they had one just like it between JBL and Batista on Smackdown in 2005. So they did have another one.

Also, the last ride match between Taker and JBL wasn't the only one. They had one between Taker and Mr. Kennedy at Armageddon.

But, I would love to see another Barbed Wire Steel Cage match. It was really cool to me, and JBL's last successful WWE title defense.

War Games would be really awesome too. It was always a favorite of mine in WCW.

I'm all about the three stages of hell as long as it's done properly.

Austin/HHH was booked as if the match would settle their issues for good. Hunter wanted a straight fall to prove he was a better wrestler and Austin won. Then Hunter beat Austin - arguably the better brawler - in a street fight. It was a nice psychological game where they bested each other at their own games. Finally, the cage match had the heel win in a fluke. The best thing after that though was that the match delivered. It finally squashed the issues between the two guys so Austin could move on to Rock and Hunter moved on to 'Taker.

On the flipside of the coin, HHH/HBK for the World title was kind of boring and a cluster.

I'd have no problem with them finally ending the Orton/HHH with three stages of hell instead of the cliched Hell in a Cell match as long as they book it smartly with a straight wrestling match, a basic hardcore match and then a simple gimmick match like a cage or ladder match.

And yeah, War Games. I think everyone and their mother would love to see the return of War Games.

do you think wwe would do this properly though? i would hate to have high expectations for them not to carry it out as a good match.

I think war games would be really good for TNA believe it or not... They could bring in old and new guys to join the frontline mem fued just for this... War games is the one where its three cages above each other right? I think I only saw one of them.. Another match I liked that isn't around and is from WCW is the 3 ring ppv with the battle royal taking place in all three rings... TNA again should try and copy that and do something similar

I feel like tna has too much going on. they always have a new knockout or superstar from japan or whatever. i dont think they operate storyline as well ass wwe does to hype events. They do however have a lot of talent but i would rather see these gimmick matches in wwe rather than tna.

ronthony, I'm pretty sure you have it backwards. The three ring battle royal was wargames (i may be wrong) and then the three cages was called like triple crown cage or something like that.

And yes, whatever they are called i would like to see them both again.

Sorry dude, the 3 ring Battle Royal was World War 3.
I think the one with the 3 cages on top of one another was just called a triple cage match.
Tho there was one at an early Slamboree or Uncensored, called a Thunderdome match, where I think there were 3 cages on top of one another, with different sections to it, which Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage had to battle their way through...
Wargames was the 2 rings side by side, coverered by a mesh fence....
SUBMIT OR SURRENDER!!!
May have to try and find some piccies now...
Epic!

first i would like to see the return of a buried alive match have undertaker face someone that the wwe is going to release and have him face the dead man in a buried alive match. i also would like to see the extreme elimination chamber that chamber match was the best.

I agree with this one, and I'm surprised no one else mentioned it. The Buried Alive match was excellent, but the problem is it's probably the least PG.

buried alive thats what i was trying to think of! mankind and taker epic matches. does anyone remember when big show threw mankind from the stage on smackdown in 99 he bounced and went right down the hole lmao. good times

PINK SLIP ON A POLE!!!!

Only have it with multiple contenders...and the winner gets a (midcard) title shot and actually chooses who IN THE COMPANY gets fired (real/kayfabe depending on what's needed).

Almost like TNA's Feast or Fired...but no feasting. One winner/one loser. Ot could lead to people kissing the winner's butt to stay employed or a GM offering major title shots to keep them happy. It could be a heel firing the Champ, opening up the belt to a tournament or something.

It could be a switch from the old "injury" out that everyone who needs rest/films a movie/gets suspended has. OR you can toss someone legitimately. Just don't resrict the possibilites to the ones in the match.

And also I'd like to see a REAL TOURNAMENT of some sort FOR A TITLE!!!

KOTR as a PPV?

or put the IC/US title up in a 2 month long tourny ending at SSlam or one of the 2 tier PPVs.

If you bring back the Cruiserweights...

I think a tounament for a title...done correctly...can bring some excitment and twist to the game.

Imagine if a Top Title (WWE/WHC) were up for grabs and Cena,Edge,Jericho,Show,Orton, and HHH were all either eliminated or had to face each other before the semis...putting a Morrison,Benjiman,Bourne, bth Hardy's in the final.

Picture an unexpected clusterpluck of young guys upsetting the vets, but not as a faction...just happening. What if Shelton vs. HHH the 1st time was a first round match and Shelton won?

I would want to see them bring in war games for summerslam this year. You have Legacy on one side with Batista v. Vince, Shane HHH and HBK. The sides can get built from now and I personally think it would be a big time stablle war

Even though it's just a larger version of a somewhat commonly used match, I'd love to see another Armageddon Hell in a Cell match (ie. 6-man HIAC). Yeah we have the Elimination Chamber, but having all six in the ring at once, the ability to leave the cell and do whatever...even climb on top of it...wonder if that'll ever happen again...oh wait, we're PG now. Darn it.

I love iron man matches, because they not only show that Wrestling can require a great deal of athletic strength and stamina, but I think that it truly can display the full talents of each wrestler as well as their versatility and creativity.

Apart from that, another hell in the cell with undertaker and someone else, maybe Chris Jericho this time, that would be sick I think.

I agree that WWE should bring back the KOTR ppv, in fact, I'm not even sure why they stopped them in the first place. King of the Ring was a great WWE tradition, where the winner usually went on to big things in the company ie:Triple H, Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, Edge, Owen Hart, Bret Hart, Haku and Mabel. Who won the last KOTR? Regal? What big things he has gone onto....

One match that seems to have gone the way of the dodo is the Scaffold match. I think the last one I saw was between Shane Douglas and Billy Kidman in WCW. When done properly, Scaffold matches can be one of, if not the most, suspensefull matches in all of pro wrestling. I'd like to see one again between say Jeff Hardy and Edge. Especially if the rumours are tru and Jeff doesn't want to re-sign, having him plunge off a Scaffold is a great farewell.

I am also a big fan of WCW's Triple Tier Cage. DDP and Jarrett had a very good match in it at Slamboree (its a shame Arquette was there) and Awesome throwing Kanyon from the top was an impressive bump, even if it looked pretty soft where he landed.

I would absolutely love to see a submission match again. I can't think of any other technical experts currently in the WWE other than Chris Jericho or Jack Swagger, but a match of this type that doesn't need too flashy of a setup would be exciting in my book.

I'd love to see RAW Roulette back again. I thought it was fun to have the possibilty of any match during the night cause you never knew what to expect.

I would kind of like to see a tag team dumpster match again, although I can see why they wouldn't due to the fact that Terry Funk was almost crippled when he was power bombed into the thing.

And I would also like to see an attitude era style of hardcore match, like back in the day when the battle would spill out of the arena into nearby rivers and clubs and bars, that hasn't been done in a good few years.
