If your looking to do the same sort of thing Sam does than try to get really high res pictures also don't go overboard with the effects. Try messing with the gradient map and the blending options. Try using more attractive fonts and adding a border.

Its not really bad for a first. Theres a few problems with it:
1. The image quality is horrible.
2. Its too big to be a sig.
3. The text is really bad.
Try some tutorials and I promise you will get a lot better fast too. Overall I give it a 2.5/10
