TMZ Picks up on Robbie E, Rob Gronkowski Beef

It's Damn Real!

The undisputed, undefeated TNA &
Not many people have the balls to threaten Rob Gronkowski -- but TNA star Robbie E is going after the NFL star -- claiming Gronk stole his wrestling nickname and now he's gotta pay!!!

Robbie says he's frickin' livid over a wrestling-style promo Gronk made this week in which he calls himself, "Robbie G" -- accusing Rob of the worst thing anyone can be accused of ... blatant rip-offery.

"I never thought an NFL player from the New England Patriots Rob Gronkowski would have to try and steal my name bro," Robbie says.

"So here's the deal ... I'm gonna beat you worse than the Dallas Cowboys are gonna beat you bro."

Robbie says he's already locked up the perfect place for the two to throw down -- TNA's Impact Wrestling.

This is certainly not TNA's first soirée dancing with TMZ, least of all over crossover appeal. They did it with Jersey Shore, A. J. Pierzynski, Steve McMichael, Danny Bonaduce, Eric the Actor, Shaquille O'Neal, Dennis Rodman and others.

I don't know how successful they'll be, especially with whether or not they can get Gronkowski to show face on TNA television, but more power to them for turning this into something. Even if it's just a quick plug.

Then again, they're starting to put some effort behind this on Twitter, so maybe there's something to this?

@realjoshmathews: So is @RobGronkowski going to accept @RobbieEImpact challenge?!? Details coming soon to impactwrestling.com. Busy day!

@Lagana: Robbie E vs Robbie G?

One is really good on a fantasy team.
One is wrestling a hybrid style.

@RobbieEImpact: Check out me calling out robgronkowski for stealing my name right now on tmz_tv ... @nfl @patriots… https://t.co/jEaJVs60o7

No. Actually Hell No.

Gronk is best friends with Mojo Rawley and has attended multiple NXT tapings. TNA probably saw this and told Robbie E to take a shot at Gronk hoping for a response. Why would Gronk appear on TNA and risk putting Rawley one of his best friends in the WWE dog house.

Normally a promotion would have the celebrity appearance lined up before beginning to pump up a feud, but TNA. So they're doing this in the middle of football season, with no tour dates in the Western Hemisphere lined up, so there is absolutely zero chance for a televised payoff to this.
