I would ask your thoughts on this, but first I must go consult this country's lord and master: the Second Amendment. Nothing can be changed as the Second Amendment might get mad at us and take out its rage in a violent plague, meaning we should probably make it much easier to buy a trunk full of guns and make sure that everyone can get all the guns and bullets that they can get their hands on because it's the most important law in the world and we should all praise its name.

After that we can get back to making sure fewer people have access to healthcare and rounding up Muslims because freedom of religion only applies to ones on the approved list.

According to some news reports this all started at a holiday party. I don't know if that's true or not, but it's a bit overkill, no pun intended, that a dispute should lead to this.

I don't know about gun control and I don't know if it's the legal guns that people should worry about. A comedian who's name I can't remember right now said it best a few year's ago. He said they should give everyone a gun, but make the price of bullet's $5,000.00 each. That way people would think twice about firing a gun off, as it could be quite expensive.

We don't have these kinds of problem here in Canada, and thank God.

Inb4 the inevitable Gun vs No Gun debate starts here again, with the pro-gun brigade desperately defending the gun culture and essential freedom to buy them, while turning a blind eye to its negatives today.
Btw, has it been confirmed that this was not a terrorist attack?

Gun Control, and fact checking. The whole "baby parts" bullshit should have never made it to air. Only a crazed terrorist like the one we got would ever believe such a thing.

I'm not even surprised anymore when shit like this happens.

We as a country desperately need gun control before we're all dead.

True, but it's never happening as long as the Second Amendment is treated as the most important thing in the world, which is the answer you hear whenever that happens. It's a shame, but it's how things work.

Probably should, but those opposed to it have made their preferences clear: owning unlimited weapons and the rights to own whatever weapons they can get their hands on almost unchecked is more important potentially saving lives. Their solution is that there should be more guns in everyone's hands because that could never blow up in their faces.

First 50 replies = Gun control

Next 50 replies if it's confirmed to be an extremist-Islamic terrorist attack = Islamophobia

    I love this place.

Well what do you expect when the leading GOP contender is advocating rounding up Muslims and putting them into a big database just in case?

So if this turns out to be an attack by extremist Muslims, then it's Donald Trump's fault?

Not at all. They're separate issues. Extremist Muslims are a harder problem to solve, though I'm not sure what worries me more: them possibly attacking in this country or people listening to Trump instead of ignoring him en masse.

So how ironic is it that the only publicly identified suspect is middle eastern and they gunned down a health facility with military gear?

If anything, it doesn't seem to be related to ISIS.

Already had my first conversation with someone who said (verbatim), "Well, they say his name was Sayed, so it looks like this was a terrorist attack."

And thank God for that, otherwise we might have to have a Serious Conversation about mental health at Some Point.

Might as well give up on the gun control argument. We'll need another 50 or so years before people come around to that, unfortunately. Think marijuana, abortion and gay marriage. The people just aren't ready for it. Why? I don't know.

I'm not really sure what you're suggesting with this. Are you suggesting that if it's confirmed to be a terrorist attack, then people will start making Islamophobic comments? Or if it's confirmed to be a terrorist attack then people will blame Islamophobia as the inspiration?

If it's the latter, then I'd argue that, while Islamophobia certainly doesn't shift the blame away from the perpetrators of the attack, Islamophobia is a powerful recruitment tool for terrorist cells. Which would you rather be: a victim or a threat?

But I think it's ugly to speculate this early on in the investigation. I get the desire to do so (and even gave into it, obviously), but we shouldn't jump to conclusions after such a tragic event.

California has the strictest gun control laws in the country. Yet This happened. Can anyone tell me how this happened when again it's nigh impossible to get a gun in California legitimately?

What gun laws in CA make it nigh impossible?
