Andre really needs to win a tournament one year, and why not this year? I don't see Muta being the guy to slow him down. Giant was dominant in the golden age of wrestling, and was probably just as big in Japan as Muta was, and certainly bigger than him here in the states. I don't think this one would require much debate.

I'd say Andre wins easily here, but it's not like he's overdue for some tournament win. Andre made it to the quarter finals & semi-finals only once before where he was beaten by Cena. I would be very surprised if Andre gets past Brock in the next round. In fact, I'd say Brock is overdue for a tournament win far more than Andre.

I predicted Brock would win this, and you're right, Andre probably does lose, but I'd say that's owed more to the fact that he has issues getting past the gimmick rounds for some unknown reason.

And, I think you make the perfect argument for why he is overdue for a win. He's one of the greatest, most well-known wrestlers of all time, and has only once had a real shot at winning this.

Awww, Muta runs into the Great Wall of Andre and that makes me sad. I was fully prepared to argue for Muta but there's no point against Andre the Giant, all someone has to say is, "Wrestlemania 3" or "15 year long winning streak" and that's about that.

Shame really.

Muta was a very unique character and something that Andre likely never faced in his time, but that argument goes both ways I believe. I don't think Muta ever faced a literal giant. I know David vs. Goliath stories are huge in pro wrestling, but I don't think Muta is the right type of David to topple Andre's Goliath.

Andre moves on, but I would love to see an argument for Muta.

There's not really much I can add to this debate. Muta is a cool wrestler that has innovated lots of moves, but Andre is one of the industry's most legendary names. It's a criminal shame that he's going to go out to Brock Lesnar, but there we have it.

Andre is god basically. His existence and work go beyond the ring and transcend the sport of pro wrestling. Muta is an absolute icon and one of the few Japanese stars who had marquee value in the States.

But here, its Andre.

Great Muta is easily my all time favorite wrestler. If it wasn't for Muta I never would have discovered puro and I honestly would have never have become the fan that I currently am. I even keep up with his Wrestle 1 promotion simply because I enjoy Muta that much. However, after saying all that I simply can't see how Muta wins here. Andre is just too much for Muta to overcome. Muta would take a beating and I feel like this would be a very unique and fun match up, but ultimately I see Andre winning it.

It's never too early to start planning the pro-Andre argument. I know I'm going to make my stand, as best I can.

And the fact that people are already referring to Brock v Andre in the next round, kind of gives away how much of a chance Muta really stands, doesn't it? He was great to watch, but I'd even say that Andre's best matches were more entertaining.
