RAW, January 22nd 2018 (25th Birthday Celebration) - Then, Now, Forever...

"That may have been one of the oddest segments I've ever witnessed." -Michael Cole

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed. Even if I hadn't put my hopes so high, it was all in all a letdown.

Until the Creative team can bring their A-Game to important events, I'm going to crawl back under my big yellow rock.

The most amazing thing in all of this is The Royal Rumble itself. It feels like an afterthought. Unless the final two are going to be Elias and Cena, I don't feel like they hyped this match at all. I don't feel like it is important at all. Not just based on last night but also the leading weeks up to last night. If there is anyone that acts like winning the Rumble is important to them, it is the guy who just won the secondary title. That makes no sense.

Otherwise, last night was a tale of two shows. The first two hours were good to great, the last hour or so was a chore. I would have preferred to have three hours of the poker over a lot of what they gave us.

Being at the Manhattan Center was a waste. That being said, I have no sympathy for anyone who bought a ticket for that show. If you didn't know that you would end up sitting on your ass in a shitty venue for a good portion of it, I don't know what to tell you. Clearly Barclays would be the focus.

Opening segment was fun. Vince still has it.

If Sasha is being punished now then Sasha has been getting punished for the last ten months. Good to see that women can go over the top rope, who knew?

Backstage with coach was cool. I'm not a PETA person but I find the worm thing unnecessary. Oddly enough Teddy Long gave me the most feels.

First big hiccup with that UT segment. It isn't leaving me in suspense, it made me think that was a goodbye promo and made me even more not want more. Not horrible, but not for me. The UT held on for too long.

Hats off to whoever came up with the APA door. I really enjoyed the poker segments. Dibiase's bit was amazing. That laugh. I think most people are enjoying what Dana Brooke is doing right now which is an amazing accomplishment.

GM segment was what it was. Cool tie in with Miz and DB. DB has overtaken Hogan as the guy who constantly uses coming back as a way to stay more relevant. Marks eat that shit up.

IC match was a cool little clusterfuck. While I'm not surprised Miz won, I am surprised at the ending. I would have thought Miz would have had more help in the finish from another person and not an exposed turnbuckle. This also has me questioning Roman's future. I shouldn't, I just don't think you do this to the guy who is going to headline Mania against the Beast.

Enjoyed the Peep Show. Can people now see what they have been doing with Jordan for months? This is one of those long drawn out stories that people on the internet say that they want. Enjoy it.

Good to see Ric Flair. Segment between the champs was fine. Still no indication that Rousey is going to be at the Rumble. Don't get your hopes up.

The wheels are starting to fall off with Hardy and Wyatt. No time to hype their match while everything else is going on really hurt things here. It also didn't help that Manhattan Center provided a shitty venue for two dark characters. Who am i kidding? WWE just put no effort in to making this match feel important last night. It's not the venue's fault. Paul Heyman would have had that place rockin.

The women looked amazing. Hate to see them get pregnant but I guess it is their decision and not mine. Thanks for nothing Trump! Trish has a bright future in MILF porn. She has that look down to a tee. I was afraid my wife was going to walk in while she was on screen and ask me if I just Googled MILF porn on the Smart TV.

Jericho was funny.

I'm just not in to Elias. Maybe there is something there that I am missing, but it just feels like cheap heat. Nice to see him one up Cena but it just feels like nowadays everyone on ups Cena.

Was that really Kama Mustafa's wife? Hey Kama, your wife kind of looks like she could be a prostitute, mind if we have Mark Henry and millions of viewers assume that?

At that point the show went to shit. The only highlight beinf the mention of Chyna. No need to further rehash. It is really nice that HHH's buddies were so nice to the Finn Gang but then again, it is really nice of HHH to continue bringing them back so often.

Right now I'm expecting the Raw tag match to be the most entertaining part of the Rumble. Not based on any hype, just based on the competitors in the match against everything else that is being offered.

Bipolar show with horrible hype for the Rumble.

I don't get why people were disappointed with the Undertaker segment.

The Cena thing was never anything more than a 17th-hand information rumor being spread all about. Not to mention everyone is much better off without it anyways.

I obviously don't speak fof everyone, but I wasn't disappointed by the lack of Cena/Taker confrontation. I was disappointed by the promo equivalent of vagebooking.

I didn't think it was vague at all.

Raw is a big deal, ive kicked ass on it for all of its years, everyone who I killed may rest in peace.

Pretty straightforward, I thought. It was a commemorative theme episode, after all.

Fair, but then it got JR and Jerry Lawler being all 'oooh, what does he mean?' Not sure why they bothered with that. I get leaving things open ended providing there's a level of intrigue, which I just wasn't feeling.

One thing I'm genuinely curious about is... why didn't they cut the lights out for Taker's entrance? Was it supposed to be some callback to 93?

At first I thought that they maybe just couldn't do it but they did it for Wyatt's entrance which made it all the more confusing.
