Honestly, Val Venis doesn't have a chance here. While I am a fan of Hennig, it's quite obvious, from both a character and in ring standpoint, that Hennig is ahead of Venis. While Venis' character fit back in that era, when you look back at it now there are some cringeworthy moments. Hennig, however, could work just as good in this era as he did in the late 80's/early 90's. While that doesn't mean he should win, Hennig was the complete package while Venis was nothing more then apart of the group that passed around the IC title.

Hennig, by a landslide.

Val Venis is out of his league here. Mr. Perfect has had victories over people who were much better than Val Venis ever could have been, and would have no problem getting the victory here as well.

Val Venis' gimmick was fitting in the Attitude era, but Mr. Perfect's gimmick is timeless and could have just as much heat today as it did when he was facing legends such as Bret Hart.

Venis misses the Money Shot, and Perfect puts him away with the Perfect-plex.

If you were to say to anyone just simply "Val Venis" you're going to get a response a long the lines of "Oh yeah, he was such a joke" because that's all he was, at least in his last years and that for the most part is going to be what people remember. He tried to leave that behind him but like a criminal record, it is going to follow him forever. Val Venis is a comedy act and sadly that is how it'll always be, even if Sean Morely did act under some more serious gimmicks, he can't mask the fact that he once was the porn star asking ladies to take off his towel!

Mr. Perfect was not a comedy act, he was all wrestling and he wrestled good. He wrestled himself right into the Hall Of Fame and is Val there? No, I don't think he is. These two are on two different levels as a comedian and a dude who suplex you all the way to Mexico and back. Even if he hadn't passed away, which sucked hard, I would've still voted for Curt Hennig because he is the real wrestler in this matchup and the better one. He plays with Val for a while, shows him some suplexes that he didn't know existed and finishes the nice squash off with a good and vicious Perfect Plex.

Curt Hennig goes over in this one pretty easily. Mr. Perfect simply accomplished far more in his career than Sean Morely could ever have dreamed of doing. Charisma to burn, above average in the ring, as opposed to a career mid carder who received more recognition for his somewhat controversial character than he did for his in ring work, which wasn't terrible, but simply wasn't perfect.
