I've mentioned before about Paige's disappointing run in the main roster, even comparing her to the then(?) struggling Bayley. But I've never actually explained my reasoning...well, until now that is.

If you haven't guessed from the title: I believe that Paige will go down as NXT's biggest flop in the developmental company's history. Yes, Bo Dallas and The Ascension were former champions; but I doubt anyone really expected much from them on the main roster.

Paige on the other hand, had the potential to be the next face of the women's division; she basically started the women's revolution with A.J Lee. Now that's not to say her run was spotless, Paige's booking during her first diva's title reign was lackluster; but nothing awful either. I think the warning signs became apparent after she entered Total Divas that she was starting to care less about the wrestling and more about the fame. But WrestleMania 31 came around and I thought that this would be the catalyst for her to achieve her potential and become the company's biggest female star...boy, were we wrong.

By 2016, she had completely regressed on her wrestling ability and looked like she didn't want to be here in the first place. Chalk it up with her recent spiraling attitude, her relationship with Del Rio and recent issues with drugs and you have a case of a burn-out in the making.

I really wish this wasn't the case, but this is where I am with her at this point. A few years ago, she may have been NXT's most promising pupil; but I think within a few years, she will go down as NXT's most disappointing failure because of the career she could have had.

Paige wasn't the most talented, she was just the first one. I don't think women's wrestling is all that great, but every woman that came up after Paige has been better. Including Nia.

In terms of talent, i'd say Charlotte is without question the best women's wrestler right now. But Paige wasn't all that far off from her when she was NXT women's champion.

The Ascension are the biggest busts. They just haven't done anything.

Paige at least had the feuds with AJ and Charlotte and a few title reigns.

I don't think it's fair to say Paige has been a complete bust. She did have some early success before The Women's revolution, she is a two time Divas Champion and she had a great feud with AJ Lee. She was probably the number 2nd most popular Diva next to AJ Lee. But once The Women's Revolution started it seemed like she got lost in the shuffle. She had a forgettable feud with Charlotte and then got sidelined with an injury.
I hope she does recover and is able to sort out her personal life and get another run on the main roster. I think she could be a fit on either Raw or Smackdown and would get back in the mix of things easily.

Unfortunately this will probably never happen.

Paige burned multiple bridges and has a lot of heat in the company. It's just problem after problem with her - the sex tape, her TNA appearances, her relationship with Del Rio.

Also she may not even have a role on either brand at the moment. She could easily get lost in the shuffle. Raw is stacked with Bayley, Sasha, Alexa, and Nia. Mickie, Emma, and Dana haven't done much of anything. SD has Becky, Natalya, Carmella, Charlotte, Lana, and Naomi. She may could take Tamina's place, but at best she's the 3rd-4th best woman on the show, and that's before Asuka's debut.

Combine that with all her problems, and WWE probably doesn't want Paige back. She may not even want to be back. Who knows? As long as she's happy (and I hope she is), then it doesn't matter.

    I don't think she is a bust.

If you want to talk about it like it is in sports I would say she is more of a disappointment than a bust. Kind of like drafting Jordan Staal or Erik Johnson over Jonathan Toews and Nicklas Backstrom in the NHL.

I think Paige is a good talent, not the best, but she's capable of having good matches and has a good deal of charisma.

    What hurt her was
    1. She was given the title the night of her main roster debut. And we all know hot shotting rarely works long term.

    2. She had her run before the Women's Revolution and, at the time, WWE didn't really focus on the women in the main roster. I mean look at Sasha, Becky, and Charlotte when they debut it was sort of flopping early on mostly because the women were still in that period where the WWE wasn't taking the women seriously and they still had transition period of the previous women roster and current. I think once WWE had the focus at WM32 things started to run smoothly.

I would like to think if Paige was brought in early last year she would have flourished.

You have characters like Adam Rose or even Bo Dallas who was even NXT Champion. And you argue that Paige, 2 times Divas Champion, would be remembered as most biggest bust in NXT history? But all those guys that came out of NXT and job their way through main roster are so much more successful then the person who was 2 times main Champion on biggest platform they have. Paige didnt live up to expectations maybe, but she is far from biggest bust or even failure when it comes to her main roster run.

Paige isn't a bust. She had several really good matches and memorable moments throughout her run in WWE. For a couple of years she was one of the very best in the division and at a point was the face of women in WWE. Therefore, she isn't a bust.

Paige is just really stupid. She is young, attractive and talented. All the makings for a long career and role as a face of the division for the WWE. Leaked sex tapes, failed drug tests and general attitude issues that we've seen and her recent happenings with Del Rio make her basically worthless as a spokesperson. Natalya Neidhart is 35 years old, not the exact age or shape that you'd expect WWE to go after. Why do they keep her around? Oh, I think it has a lot to do with Natalya being perfect to speak at public functions, radio, television and working with kids whenever WWE does that. When has Natalya Neidhart ever got into trouble? She is the perfect employee and exactly what a major corporation like WWE wants. You can send her to things to work with kids but can you do the same for Paige after everything that has happened? Seems like a bigger pain in the ass than it's worth. Send Natalya rather than Paige, save some effort and likely get a better result.

Paige is an idiot. Stuffed up what could've been several decades worth of association with WWE. Not a bust but she is really stupid.

I don't see her as the biggest bust, the fact s she former multi time divas champions actually started the women's revolution way before charlotte & co. Even started in nxt. So I don't see her as a bust.

The fact is, she went from being the focus of the division for so long to becoming and afterthought when they brought in charlotte and the rest of the nxt girls to the main roster which lead to her having more time off and going into that destructive relashionship with del rio. But in the end, she still had a greatest career compare to others nxt alum. Personally, I think emma is a bigger bust then paige as far as the nxt women's are concern.

The leaked sex tapes thing is hypocritical by WWE. A few years ago, WWE would have used Paige doing this to allow her to pose for Playboy and then promote it heading into Wrestlemania (I mean, the worst Divas wrestler ever, Ashley Massaro, got TWO Wrestlemanias, because she posed in Playboy twice). So WWE had no problem ****ing off their Divas a few years ago, and even had both the Kat and Mae Young flash their tits at PPVs. But because they bend over for toy companies and advertisers, they pretend like the "Attitude Era" never existed, and Paige is chastised now when she would have been lauded and appeared in Bra-& -Panties matches a few years ago. She has been "Benoit'ed" from WWE history.

Also, the main thing WWE have against Del Rio was that he went to the mainstream news when he got sacked by WWE for punching a racist employee, and the WWE took the racist's side, but then had to fire the racist because Del Rio complained to the press about it. WWE don't have problems with other relationships, but stick their nose in this one, when it is none of their business.

Natalya Neidhart? Well, when it comes to young, attractive and talented, Nattie only has the third one. They keep her around because her father used to wrestle in WWE. You see, Vince loves second and third generation superstars, like Nattie, Tamina and Charlotte. Paige's family never wrestled in WWE, so she doesn't have nepotism to get her by. Also. Nattie's dad, Jim, is a jailbird, and Tamina's dad possibly killed someone, but it is okay to promote them, despite their associations, but Paige hooking up with a guy who called out a racist employee in WWE gets short-shafted.

Also, Nattie doesn't get heat, because no Diva sees her as a threat looks-wise, so there isn't any professional jealousy with her, and she is kept around because of who her father is, to appease uncle Bret, and because if she is dismissed, her hubby could sue WWE for his career-ending injuries. Also, Nattie won't get in trouble, because no-one wants to see a Natalya sex tape.

Also, Paige wouldn't have had decades on top, because, once the Four Horsefaced women come up to the main roster, the NXT sycophantic fans didn't care about anyone else, and would rather watch Sasha v Charlotte for the 50,0000th time and the 50,0000th title change than a Paige match. She was yesterday's news to the fickle fans who move on quickly.

Biggest bust? Absolutely not. She had a great run and accomplished a LOT in a short time for a young newcomer.

    Biggest FLAMEOUT? Without a doubt.

This is another example of one of us going off on a hyperbolic tangent. Considering Paige NXT's biggest bust when she's 24 and is basically still a child is a bit much for me folks. You can't make any kind of ultimate statement like that when her career isn't over.

Yes, Paige has had a rough time. She got passed up by newer stars, it happens in wrestling. She's had a rough couple years with the neck injury being the main reason she's missing from the company she's under contract to.

We wouldn't be having this conversation if it weren't for the very public sex tape leak or the bizarre relationship with El Patron. If Paige was just another wrestler who missed a huge chunk of time on injury, most of us would be fantasy booking her return.

Mickie James came back to WWE guys. Mickie James. Granted she's been jobbing, but the door isn't always shut.

Alexa Bliss and Charlotte among others in WWE have had nudes or sextape leaks. One is the current Raw Women's champion and the other just participated in the first women's MITB. If you let men (Seth Rollins) recover from these leaks and still get top billing, you let the women move past it too.

WWE loves a good redemption angle. Eddie went from drugs to WWE champion. Paige too could come back, triumph, and we could be talking about her as the greatest thing that ever happened to women's wrestling.

Who knows though? NXT has produced bigger lemons than Paige. Bo, Ascension, Aries (main roster run), Erik Rowan, and the list will go on. Until Paige is old and retired, making any kind of statement like this is fundamentally flawed.

Not even close. Paige has made some bad decisions such as the tape that got leaked (why people make those tapes at all is beyond me but that's off-topic) and getting into a relationship with Del Rio. I won't say anything else about the relationship since there are still things going on that we as fans do not know the full details about. The thing is, we are all human beings and as such we all make mistakes. I feel bad for her and hope her life turns around. Now, as others have pointed out, if it weren't for the controversial things going on in her life we wouldn't be having this discussion. If you look past these things, and only address her success in the WWE then you can clearly see that Paige is NOT the biggest fail in an NXT to main roster promotion. Quite the opposite, actually.

The women's division had been through its absolute worst. When Trish and Lita left in 2006 the division had barely anyone who could actually wrestle. Other than Mickie, Beth, and Natalya there was nearly a decade of pushes for women who were only there to look attractive. Not until AJ Lee VS Kaitlyn in late 2013 did things finally change. Then there was a match at a certain show, the first special event to air live on the Network. Paige VS Emma for the NXT Women's Championship. Then Paige got promoted to the main roster shortly after and won the Divas Championship at her debut. She won the biggest prize available to her at the time on her first night, the same belt she would hold twice and feud with AJ Lee over. She then participated in the Women's Revolution in team PCB, and feuded with Charlotte over the new Women's Championship. For someone so young she had a fantastic first run. How exactly is she a failure? Look past the controversial stuff and see the true success. It was there. If she is able to overcome everything that's going on and turn things around for a return, a Raw or Smackdown Women's Championship run are not an impossibility. She would be a welcome addition to either title scene.

If we are talking the biggest failed main roster promotion for an NXT star, you might want to look at people who actually saw failure instead of success like Paige did. How about The Ascension? They got destroyed on day one instead of winning the top prize on day one. What about Adam Rose? He could have had a decent run in a comedic jobber role with his random partiers following him around all the time, but once he lost the random crowd he instantly sucked and had nothing going for him. Crews is only just now finally turning things around with Titus as his manager. Breeze up until The Fashion Files angle was another contender for most failed NXT promotion. The Vaudevillains, Eva Marie, the list goes on. Paige is nowhere NEAR the biggest fail. This thread's opening post has it 100% wrong. She's one of the biggest successes based off her initial run and her story will hopefully have another chapter to it if she is able to return.

I might as well explain myself.

You see, when I say Paige is a bust; I mean in the sense as in while she was/is (?) a popular figure in the divas division, she could have been worth even more for them.

Bo Dallas, yes he was a former NXT champion but it never really looked like he could repeat that success for the main roster. He was a big fish in a very small pond, and a very successful fish at that. If you take the gimmick away, all he was is basically someone to fill in the midcard and nothing more.

Adam Rose only lasted in NXT for a couple of months before jumping to the main roster. Before that, he was known as Leo Kruger. Either way, he had a place for him; either as a midcard monster heel or as a comedic face akin to Santino Marella. That's the ceiling.

With Paige? She had and maybe still does have the potential to become the face of the women's division, but I think what people forget was that her first year was not all that great. Her heel turn and eventual feud with AJ Lee was highly underwhelming for the supposed top two faces of the division and she wound up not doing a whole lot of anything afterward.

And yes, after WrestleMania things started to look up for her; she headed PCB for the Divas' Revolution; and the promo after Charlotte won the Divas title was fantastic; so was the ensuing match. What did she do after that? Job to pretty much every other woman on the roster. Shoot, she lost to Dana Brooke in three minutes; If that isn't a sign the company has lost faith in you, what is?

And then we get into the recent suspensions for drugs, the relationship with Del Rio which may or may not be abusive, her horribly childish attitude as of late, (especially coming for someone that is supposed to be the future of the division) and the recent drama going on with her and the WWE; I think it's fair to say that it's time to sound the alarm bells and say that maybe it just isn't working out. Could I be jumping the gun? Possibly, could she come back and prove me wrong? Absolutely, WWE loves redemption stories as much as the next person, but until there is evidence that proves me otherwise; I will stay firm in the belief that Paige is the biggest bust in NXT's history.

EDIT: Dagger also mentioned The Ascension as a part of NXT's failures. While I did think they had the potential to make for good tag team champions as shown in their NXT run, I never thought they were going to take the tag team division by storm either. Even if they hadn't been buried by every single legend known to mankind, they would have still gotten lost in the shuffle; it would take a longer time, but it would have still happened nonetheless.

I don't consider Paige the biggest NXT bust (though she is quite busty)

I would give that honor to Bray Wyatt.

Wyatt could have been the 21st century Undertaker. He could have been a top heel.

Think about it. A cult leader and doomsday prophet, who strikes fear into many hearts, and only the brave can stand up to him. He revels in mind games, and plays on superstars' biggest fears. He had a hell of a lot of potential.

Instead, he loses all the time. He got beaten by Cena, and his recent story with Orton humiliated him, and made him look like Orton's bitch. He should have been the one to end the Undertaker's streak, in a "torch-passing" moment, and he could "take over" the "fear" gimmick. He could have been like a meglomaniac and taken over WWE, and used the superstars as his pawns. Bray shakes his fist at God Himself, yet he is made to look weak constantly, and his WWE Title win was forgettable, and he lost it at Wrestlemania in the stupidest way possible.

I'm probably one of the very few people who never truly thought Wyatt could have been the next Undertaker, the charisma is undeniable; that much is clear, but he never seemed to possess the same amount of wrestling ability as The Undertaker did. Really, I think he's done everything he can as a heel and would benefit a face turn; but as I've mentioned from the Heel Bayley thread, the decision to change things up relies on him thinking about it and then going to Vince to discuss it.

No way is Paige a bust in the same way The Ascension, The Vaudevillains, Bo Dallas and even to a point, Rusev.

Paige's issues backstage have shortened her shelf life for WWE, but while she was there and working she was involved, prominent and worth her push. She's had some memorable feuds and moments and while "It's My House..." is perhaps the most annoying phrase other than "WWE Universe", again it's an earworm.

You have to also look at what people were intended to be... Paige was groomed to be champion and was... but she was unlikely to be the face of the company for women...especially once Charlotte started as the Flair name was always gonna carry. Paige was able to set the table for the "Horsewomen" to come in, and once WWE started going to Japan with Asuka and now two more stars from there, it was clear that her role was not gonna be prominent for long.

Paige got people interested enough in womens wrestling, alongside AJ to allow it to become a "thing" for WWE again and now the roster they have is insanely strong compared to the Diva's division when Paige debuted.

The proof in the pudding is there is a movie being made about her...

Now if you want to talk busts... why not the Bulgarian Brute who was tipped to be a monster heel World Champion?

Agreed, even if Paige hadn't had the issues; there was always the chance she'd get lost in the shuffle with Charlotte, Asuka and others coming in. And again, to her credit; she along with A.J Lee began the revolution that still goes on to this very day. But even so, you can't help but notice that she could have still had a very prominent role with the company had things not played out the way they did.

As for the movie: Good for her, and more importantly her family; I've always wondered what it was that made their family so successful not just in Britain but in America of the world as well. Can't wait to see it once it comes out.

I actually think Paige did well in NXT, she was the Anti-Diva, the one who broke the mold so to speak. Little did any of us know that she would in fact live up to her character.

She was NXT Women's Champion, and on her debut onto the main roster won the Diva's title. I think it was a little too soon for her to do that, but she made a name for herself right off the bat and with not a lot of women that could wrestle, it wasn't a bad thing.

Paige went off the rails due to bad decision making in her personal life. Decisions that continue to haunt her today if the incident at the Orlando airport this week are anything to go by. Going on Total Diva's was a double edged sword. It showed just how different she was from the rest of the girls, and that can be seen as either a good or bad thing, depending on how you viewed her antics.

Charlotte, Sasha and Becky arriving on the main roster together and starting the Diva's Revolution took some of the wind out of her sails, but she could have recovered. Again poor decision making and her attitude of not giving a damm has proved to be her undoing. I've read that even though she is cleared to wrestle the WWE has no plans to use her going forward. I think they are just waiting until the movie the Rock is producing about her family finally gets released, then so will she.

It's been said that Del Rio is his own worst enemy, I'm afraid in Paige's case the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

I wouldn't call Paige NXT's biggest bust because, as others have mentioned, she had a decent amount of success while she was in WWE's good graces. I would however, agree with the notion that she can probably be considered NXT's biggest case of lost potential at this point. Things can always change of course, and maybe one day she'll return with her nose clean, rid of the toxin that is Alberto Del Rio, and live up to what she was originally supposed to be, but that seems pretty unlikely right now.

She should have been one of the all-time great women wrestlers. She should, right now, be fighting for championships and having great feuds with the likes of Charlotte, Sasha, Becky, Bayley, and Alexa instead of throwing everything away for a scumbag like ADR. I mean damn, the chick's only 24 years old. She could have had a 25+ year career if she had just done things the right way, which is why I find it difficult to muster any sympathy. She had it absolutely made and she screwed it up through her own decisions.

I hope she gets her head on straight and gets a chance to redeem herself. It would be a shame to see her go out the way she has.

And that right there is why I believe Paige is going to go down as NXT's biggest bust over all other busts. She could have been one of the longest tenured employees in the history of the company, maybe even a female Undertaker if they got lucky, but because of her decisions; she's barely hanging onto a job.

I think if she is going to attempt a comeback, she needs to take the rest of the year off. It's a lost cause for her at this point. I did hear that they were going to attempt a women's royal rumble next year; why not make a surprise appearance in that event?

But most of the crap that's happened in her life has happened since she joined the main roster. In NXT she was probably a handful, but Regal and company managed to keep her under control to an extent.

I don't work for the WWE or even have a lot of knowledge about how they run things, but I'm assuming that NXT is sort of like a boot camp. Things are very tightly controlled by HHH, Regal and company. You rarely hear of anything negative come out of there.

Once they hit the main roster they come under Vince's control and that's when things went pear shaped for her. It was when she started travelling and showing up on Total Diva's, she was supposed to act like a responsible adult. That is something I think Paige has a problem with. Like I said before, her decision making is flawed and Vince won't or can't babysit her like HHH did in NXT. She has a long road to travel back to the WWE and get into their good graces at this point in time.

I think being on the road and the added stress can screw with a lot of people, especially people that young. NXT mostly being in one place really helps. There's more free time, so people can get that crap out of the way and still come to work. I still have SOME sympathy. Being young and stupid is something that happens. I'm 25 and I cringe at things I did 4 years ago. It happened to Ric Flair. It happened to Shawn Michaels. They're still legends. Her problems always seem to stem with who she's involved with rather than her. That's not to say she isn't to blame for her own troubles. But everyone, not just kids are subject to "hanging around with the wrong crew". I just hope she gets her head together. And damn. Being a Del Rio fan is really hard right now. His shitty attitude, the rumors of Paige having bruises, and the audio from the airport incident make it really hard to doubt what Paige's brother has been saying.

I've still got my fingers crossed for her. I want to see her run off, take 2 or 3 years to do the journeyman thing. England. Japan. Get better. Get the shit out of her system. And then come back. She's still got a career. She's still got talent. And I hope she gets help, because she sounds like she needs it. Whether it's therapy, family, or even somone from WWE.
