Terry Funk, more often than not, goes unnoticed for how great of a worker he truly is. He was a phenomenal worker who deserves to be appreciated for more than his hardcore accomplishments. I hope a good few people back him in the tournament and that he does well, gaining some new found respect and recognition by newer fans in the process.

Just a few of his accomplishments:

    ECW World Heavyweight Champion
    ECW Television Champion
    IWA World Heavyweight Champion
    NWA World Heavyweight Champion
    NWA United States Heavyweight Champion
    WCW United States Heavyweight Champion
    WWF Tag Team Champion

He is also a member of:

Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum
    Stampede Hall of Fame
    WCW Hall of Fame
    WWE Hall of Fame
Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame

Not a bad list of accomplishments, eh? Funk was NWA champion for well over a year, defending the title regularly in different countries around the world. Not to mention having great feuds with the likes of Harley Race, Ric Flair, Dusty Rhodes, Bruiser Brody and Jumbo Tsuruta. He's also a huge name in Japan, among the most well-respected in the business, having spent a large amount of his career there.

To see how really great Terry Funk is, check out the documentary The Legend of Terry Funk. It showcases some of his best promos, singles and tag-team matches in several different promotions with a diverse list of workers. You won't regret it.

As long as he doesn't face Jushin Liger before the final 16, Terry Funk has my full support. This man's a true legend.

He has my vote up until the time he faces Hart. Doing the Legend Tournament has given me a new Look at Terry Funk and he deserves to go far in this.

I won't be backing him in this, as I'm not fully educated on all that he has done. Sure, I'm familiar with his work but still need some educating.

I will also support Funk as long as he doesn't encounter Santino ;), Hogan or Bret Hart. The man is great and has accomplished so much in his entire career, and the best thing is he accomplished so much every where he went. He didnt accomplish too much in the WWE but he didn't need to, he already cemented his legacy as an all time great.

A legend that simply doesn't get the credit he deserves. I hope Funk gets a very long run in this, maybe the sweet 16. People forget that he's more than just a hardcore icon. He did some great stuff in the 70s including a year long world title run I believe.

KB put it best. Terry Funk is a great wrestler, and I loved that he is going to the Hall of Fame this year. If you do want to push him, make sure the voters know about his rich NWA history and not just his WWE history. He truly is a living legend in the ring and I hope he gives the tournament a big push.

Well I'm glad that Mr. Funk seems to have a lot of people backing him in the tournament, let's hope he can get far.

Now, with Terry Funk's fourteen month world title reign being in the 70's, he didn't benefit from PPV and TV like the superstars of today, making it very hard to find footage of him in his prime. If I get round to it, I'll upload some matches I have of him from an extensive compilation of him from in the 70's/early 80's. For now, I'll provide you with as much as I can. Before carrying on, please watch the videos posted in my original post if you already haven't.

Firstly, I present one of Funk's most well-known and praised matches of his career with Ric Flair. The I Quit match at Clash of the Champions IX. This match had come about after Flair had beaten Steamboat at WrestleWar for the NWA Championship. Eventually, things had esculated to Funk piledriving Flair through a table, leaving Flair out of action for several months. Upon returning, they had a classic brawl which ended up recieving a five star rating from WON.

Here's a great promo during the Funks/Dusty & Wahoo feud back in Georgia. The man could cut a great promo and was truly underrated on the mic.

This match marks the end of Terry Funk's fourteen month world championship reign. Funk went into this match with an already injured knee, resulting in Race winning with a rare submission, the Indian Deathlock. This would mark Harley Race's second world title reign.

Terry Funk is a true legend in Japan, becoming one of the most popular American workers to ever work there. Terry had announced his plans to retire, billing this his final match. Of course, he would return to in-ring action a year later, but this marked the first of many "retirements" he had. This shows how over and respected he is in Japan.

Terry Funk and Stan Hansen (another underrated worker) are two of the best brawlers the business has seen. If you can get past the bad quality, here's a fun little brawl the two guys had.

Here's another great slugfest. Terry and Abdullah put on a great match back in the late 70's.

Now here's a rarity, something a lot of people don't know about. Bret Hart made a one-time appearance in a co-produced ECW event to wrestle against Funk at one of his retirement shows. The Funk had aged and wasn't the worker he was, but it's still a great match.

This match took place not long after Steamboat's world title run. Flair had turned face after being attacked by Funk, who also attacked Steamboat. Funk/Steamboat decided to settle their differences at Clash of the Champions 7 in this great match.

Terry Funk, at 53 years old becoming the ECW Champion, twenty-two years after winning the NWA Heavyweight championship. Terry Funk had shown how dedicated he was to the business, appearing at every ECW show as the champion while becoming a champion and regularly performing in Japan at the same time.
