Rumored participants include Rob Van Dam, Sabu, Sean Waltman, and more. A press release by NWA President Robert Trobich also mentioned some surprises from both the WWE and TNA.

*****

NWA Primetime! shows will be posted each Thursday, starting October 30, 2008. The show will be pre-empted on November 27th & December 25th due to Thanksgiving and Christmas, respectively. NWA is in negotiations for a different timeslot those weeks, but nothing is definite.

The program opens to Robert Trobich sitting behind a desk at NWA Headquarters. He welcomes wrestling fans to a new era in professional wrestling, the revitalization of the National Wrestling Alliance. Trobich talks about the history of the NWA, such legends as Lou Thesz, Harley Race, the Funks, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Tommy Rich, the Rock N Roll Express, and on and on. He then goes on to talk about the bright future, including a large investor who wanted to get back into the wrestling game, this new 2 hour television program on TBS on Thursday nights, and an influx of top talent that has begun trickling to NWA. He mentions that includes commentators, as joining the NWA team are none other than Jim Ross and the Living Legend, Larry Zbyszko. He closes with, “What once was great, will be great again. Let me ask you to join us in reclaiming professional wrestling to the glory and honor it deserves.”

A video opening now airs, highlighting the greats that Trobich mentioned above, set to the tune of ‘Man in the Box’ by Alice in Chains. As the video ends, the camera cuts to Jim Ross and Larry Zbyszko at ringside. There is no pyro, no stage, and no video board. JR welcomes us to history in the making tonight, live in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The crowd explodes as ‘Also Sprach Zarathustra’ comes over the PA system. Making his way to the ring is none other than The Nature Boy Ric Flair. Flair finally gets the crowd to settle after a few minutes, then goes on to explain that while Trobich is still the CEO of the National Wrestling Alliance, he is the Executive Vice President, he is the man in charge now. He talks about how he helped to build the NWA legacy, only to see it crumble due to corporate mismanagement and selfish performers. He’s back to rebuild it, to bring it back to it’s rightful place as the number one wrestling promotion on the planet. Flair says we’ll see wrestling in this squared-circle, we’ll see real men battle it out for the most coveted title in wrestling history, a title he held 10 times.

Flair then goes on to introduce his Administrator of Justice, Arn Anderson. Arn has always been the Enforcer, now he is the Enforcer of NWA rules and regulations. Under Arn is the Director of Officiating, the legendary Tommy Young. Flair then brings out his new secretary, Torrie Wilson. The new NWA Front Office stands in the ring to loud applause before Flair gets back on the mic.

He announces that Starcade 2008 will be on December 28th in Atlanta, Georgia. By then, Flair states, we’ll have a pretty good idea where the future of wrestling in headed, along with the NWA World Heavyweight Championship, the NWA North American Championship, and the NWA World Tag Team Championships. Flair goes on to say that after the commercial break, an 8 man tournament is to begin for the NWA Junior Heavyweight Championship. The first match of the tournament will be tonight, with the first round being completed in subsequent weeks.

He is a 4 time ECW Tag Team Champion, a former WCW Light Heavyweight Champion, a former WCW United States Champion, a former WCW Tag Team Champion, a 27 time WWE Hardcore Champion, and most importantly, a former NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He talks about all of those accomplishments, yet gets none of the respect that comes with the accomplishments. He is here to regain that NWA World Heavyweight Championship, and make everyone pay for the injustices, make everyone feel the wrath of Raven…. Quote the Raven, Nevermore.

Commercial Break

Rob Van Dam vs Ron Killings

Ross continues to put over the past accomplishments of the wrestlers, to establish the legitimacy of their place in the sport. Conversely, Ron Killings has held the WWE Hardcore title twice, the TNA Tag Titles once, the NWA World Tag Titles twice, and has actually held the NWA World Heavyweight Championship twice, more than any other current NWA wrestler.

All the while, the action is quick paced and back and forth. The fans are behind Killings as he slams RVD with a russian leg Sweep, then a enzuigiri and german suplex. RVD recovers and counters with windmill kick, a running cross body, and a springboard moonsault. The action then spills to the outside where they work each other over before barely making it back in before the 10 count.

After some more back and forth action, Killings hits RVD with Truth or Consequences, but can’t score the 3 count as Van Dam gets his leg on the bottom rope just in time. We come back to NWA Primetime! and none other than Dustin Rhodes makes his way to the ring. Rhodes is out in jeans, a black University of Texas shirt, a jean jacket and a white cowboy hat. He mentions that at his fathers Hall of Fame induction ceremony in 2007, he made the comment that ‘All my life, I’ve wanted to be just like my Dad.’ But looking back on things, he has been an embarrassment, he thought he wanted to make a name for himself, but instead of becoming a legend, he became a joke and a freak. Sure, he’s had some success, including winning the Intercontinetal title 3 times and the tag team championship once, but they all ring hollow because of who he was. He is infinintely more proud of the man who won two United States titles in WCW, along with 2 tag titles over 15 years ago. Now he is back in the NWA, where he started and where his father made his name, to reconcile the past. He’s here to become the wrestler he’s always known he should have become, to represent the Rhodes family name along with Texas and the NWA.

CM Punk vs Chris Sabin (NWA Jr. Heavyweight Title Tournament Match)

Punk and Sabin go at it early in a quick paced matchup. Punk takes the offensive with some chops and quick side kicks, and takes Sabin down with a dropkick. Punk is distracted as Johnny the Bull Stamboli and Nunzio come out to ringside, and Sabin capitalizes as he hits a float-over ddt. Stamboli and Nunzio rush into the ring and take out Sabin, though, as a confused Punk looks on. The ref calls for the bell and Punk looks on in anger as the Sons of Italy duo head on to the back. Chris Sabin advances in the NWA Junior Heavyweight Title Tournament Match.

Kurt Angle & Mystery Opponent vs Rob Van Dam & Rhino

We are back from commercial now and the arena is heating up as the main event is up next. JR and Zbyzsko are buzzing about who the mystery partner is going to be. RVD and Rhino make their way down to the ring, then Kurt Angle is out. The crowd explodes as the man steps out from behind the curtain…

Jim Ross: “GOLDBERG!!! GOLDBERG!!! GOOD GOD, IT’S GOLDBERG!!! GOLDBERG IS THE MYSTERY PARTNER!!!”

Goldberg makes his way to the ring as the crowd goes crazy. RVD, Rhino, and Angle are all in shock… Goldberg hits the ring and takes out RVD as Rhino goes to the outside. RVD slides to the outside as well, and Goldberg and Angle are face to face, staring each other down. Rhino slides back in and attacks Goldberg from behind, pushing him into Angle. Angle doesn’t look pleased, and heads to the corner to let Goldberg start out the match. Rhino has the advantage early, as Goldberg was taken by surprise from behind, but he is able to mount a comeback and make the tag. Angle is in now with Rhino, and he takes over slowly with a variety of headlocks, armlocks, and leglocks. Angle keeps the big guy on the mat and frustrates him with technical wrestling. Rhino is finally able to power out of a front facelock and make the tag to RVD. Van Dam is on fire now, trying to make up for the defeat last week to Angle. RVD sends Angle to the mat with a spinning heel kick, and follows that up with a spinning leg drop. RVD locks in Angle with an armbar and stretches to make the tag. Rhino is in now and they double team the Olympic Gold Medalist before Rhino takes over with a chokehold and a reverse ddt.

Rhino and RVD continue to control the match with quick tags and double teams, and Angle can’t make the tag. He is able to mount a small offensive, but isn’t able to make it over for the tag as Rhino drags him back over to their corner. Angle finally is able to get over and make the tag to Goldberg, but the ref didn’t see it, as RVD had distracted him. Goldberg is forced back to the corner by the ref and Angle is still taking a beating over on the other half of the ring. Angle finally is able to clothesline Rhino off the ring apron and hit a Russian Leg Sweep on RVD and make the hot tag.

Goldberg is in now, and a house of fire, and he clears RVD from the ring and then hits the spear on Rhino. Rhino falls out of the ring, and Goldberg then hits a huge spear on RVD. There is a stir in the crowd though, as someone is running down to the ring…

Jim Ross: “OH MY GOD!!! IT’S THE BIG SH… IT’S THE… IT’S THE GIANT!!!”

Goldberg is faced away from the entranceway, so he doesn’t see The Giant coming, and he is about to lift RVD up for the Jackhammer. The Giant catches Goldberg as he turns and hits a Chokeslam. The Giant then lifts Angle up and Chokeslams him, leaving both good guys fallen in the ring in a heap.

Winner – No Contest (13:48)

RVD and Rhino head back to the locker room looking back to the ring as The Giant stands over both Kurt Angle and Bill Goldberg with a devious smile.

NWA Primetime! - 11/20/08, live from the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, West Virginia

“Man in the Box” by Alice in Chains plays as legendary wrestlers in NWA history are shown in action… Lou Thesz, Harley Race, the Funks, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Tommy Rich, the Rock N Roll Express, and more. The classic NWA logo then fills the screen and then the scene cuts to inside the arena. Ring Announcer Tony Chimel does the introductions and the bell rings…

Juventud Guerrera vs D-Lo Brown

The two lock up to begin things and D-Lo shoves Juvy to the mat and then stomps on him a few times. Juvy is back up, though, and ducks under a clothesline before hitting a leg lariat on Brown. Juvy goes on the offensive, hitting a springboard dropkick, tornado ddt, and then a dragon suplex for a two count. The match is interrupted, however, by The Giant, who tosses Guerrera out of the ring and Chokeslams D-Lo Brown to the mat hard.

Jim Ross: “DAMN YOU, GIANT… This is the second straight match you’ve ruined… you ruined the main event last Thursday, and now this opening match here tonight!”

The Giant grabs a mic and begins to talk about how he is the biggest and baddest man in professional wrestling today, and he will damn well do what he pleases. He starts to go on more, but is interrupted by Ric Flair’s music.

Flair comes out and talks about all of the history between The Giant and himself… he notes that The Giant won his first legitimate World Title from him, and they’ve had wars in both the WCW and the WWE. He reminds The Giant, though, that he is the man in charge, not The Giant. He tells him that this is his ring, and he must follow the rules that he sets forth.

The Giant shoots back, letting Flair know that he does what he wants, when he wants, and if Ric Flair and his cronies want to try to stop him, just go ahead and try. Flair stares The Giant down as we go to a commercial break.

Commercial Break

We come back from break and go over the NWA North American Title match set for tonight, the 6 Man Timed Entry Gauntlet Match. Chris Masters & Rob Conway vs Paul London & Billy Kidman

Billy Kidman makes his NWA debut as Paul London’s tag team partner, and he starts out the match against Rob Conway. Conway gets in a few punches, chops, and kicks, then makes a tag to Masters. Masters slams Kidman to the mat, but misses an elbow drop and Kidman is able to tag in to London. London hits a flying clothesline from the top rope, and gets a 1 count in the process. Masters is able to overpower London, though, and he drags him over to his corner and tags Conway back in. Some good double team and quick tag action by Masters and Conway puts London down on the mat, but he is able to scramble over to his corner and tag in Kidman. After some back and force action, Kidman does a leapfrog over Masters, but gets nailed by Conway with a big running clothesline. Masters takes out London while Conway secures the pin.

Winners – Masters & Conway by pin (5:02)

We cut backstage to show a limousine arriving to the arena, and Jim Ross and Larry Zbyzsko wonder who it could be. Ross mentions how two weeks ago, Kurt Angle arrived, and last week, both Bill Goldberg and The Giant showed up on NWA Primetime!

The two locked horns and Noble backed Hart into the corner and beat him around before hitting a body slam and a quickie cover attempt. Noble whipped him to the corner and ate a boot and a bunch of strikes from Hart. Hart then hit a bunch of kicks and drop kicks before hitting the Dungeon Bomb.

Noble’s in trouble here and Hart hits a cross body only for Noble to roll through for a two count. Noble has gained the advantage, and hits Hart with a swinging neckbreaker followed by a corkscrew senton. He only gets a two count, though, and goes up to the top rope. Hart is up, though, and executes a springboard dropkick to the chest of Noble. Noble falls down to the mat hard, and Hart goes up top to hit a shooting star press. Hart makes the cover for the 3 count.

Commercial Break

Back from commercial now, we see Raven sitting in the corner in his locker room, hair down over his face. He talks about the chances he’s been given, and also the chances he’s been denied. Quote the Raven… nevermore.

Orlando Jordan & Elijah Burke vs Tyson Tomko & Chris Kanyon

Jordan and Burke make their NWA debuts as they take on Tomko and Kanyon in a tag match. Burke starts out in the ring with Kanyon, and is able to take the action to him. Kanyon makes the tag to Tomko, who unleashes a fury of punches and kicks that put Burke to the mat. Burke makes the tag to Jordan, who is able to duck under a clothesline attempt and hit a big sidekick to floor Tomko. Jordan drops the knee on Tomko and then makes the tag to Burke. Ross wonders whether this isn’t the most decorated family is wrestling, at least right up there with the Hart Family, which includes the NWA’s very own Teddy Hart and DH Smith.

Afa, Jr. is all over Parham from the beginning. He hits Parham with chops and sidekicks that send him to the mat. Afa Jr drops an elbow on Parham then lifts him up and smashes him with a big headbutt. Afa Jr finishes him off with Lights Out and gets the 3 count.

Rob Van Dam is out now, and inside the ring. He starts off by issuing an open challenge to anybody in the building, to come out and get smoked by RVD.

Cut backstage now, and the limo door is shown opening, but the camera cuts back to the ring and RVD. Van Dam talks about how he is Mr. Thursday Night and the Whole F’n Show, and nobody in wrestling can touch him.

The crowd explodes to their feet as Adam Copeland, formerly Edge in WWE, makes his way out in jeans and a t-shirt. RVD gives a nervous smile, but is obviously shocked to see Copeland coming out. Copeland has a mic and just says, ‘Challenge accepted!’ before dropping the mic and charging at Van Dam and tackling him to the mat. The two roll around on the mat exchanging rights and lefts until RVD slides out of the ring. Copeland follows him to the outside and they trade blows out there. Copeland tries to send Van Dam into the ring post, but RVD reverse and Copeland is sent shoulder first into the post. Copeland is down, and Van Dam lays the boots to him a bit, then gets up on the ring apron and drops a elbow down on Copeland. RVD searches under the ring for a steel chair, but takes too long, as Copeland is able to recover. RVD holds the chair up to swing at Copeland, but a dropkick sends the chair into Van Dam’s face. Copeland pulls RVD up by his hair and whips him into the security railing, then body slams him onto the mats surrounding the ring.

He lays Copeland on top of the table and heads back into the ring. Van Dam runs across the ring, off the ropes, back, and uses the ropes as a springboard to launch himself into a frogsplash, but Copeland is able to slide off the table prior to impact. RVD crashes through the table in a heap, and he is hurt. Copeland slowly gets to his feet and looks down at the wreckage. The EMT team is out as Copeland looks on. He slowly heads to the back, stopping to raise his arms to the cheers from the crowd as we head to commercial.

Six Man Timed Entry Gauntlet Match for the NWA North American Title

The first two entrants in the gauntlet match are Dustin Rhodes and Mark Copani. Rhodes is seeing his first action in the NWA, and he charges right at Copani and knocks him off his feet with a shoulder block. Copani bounces right back up, though, and they exchange big right hands. Copani ducks under, and then locks in a armbar on Rhodes. Copani sends Rhodes off the ropes but misses a clothesline attempt as Rhodes ducks under and is off the opposite ropes. Rhodes hits a flying knee smash that sends Copani down as Steve Corino makes his way out to the ring. Corino sneaks behind Rhodes and rolls him up for a 2 count, but Dustin kicks out. Copani level Rhodes from behind as he gets up, though, and stomps away on him on the mat. Corino applies a spinning toe hold on Rhodes, but is hit with a huge clothesline from Copani to send him to the mat.

CM Punk is the next wrestler to enter now, and he goes right after Copani with a flying body press. He is down now on top of Copani and delivering rights and lefts as Rhodes is up and takes the offensive on Steve Corino. Copani rolls over on top of Punk and now he is blasting with rights and lefts onto Punk. JR goes over the short history these two have developed the past couple of weeks, including the Sons of Italy costing Punk his Jr. Heavyweight Title tournament quarterfinal match. Rhodes hits a big lariat on Corino and gets a 2 count. Raven is next in now, and he floors Rhodes from behind with a forearm smash.

Punk and Copani roll to the outside now, and continue their brawling. Copani sends Punk off of the ringside steps and follows up with kicks to the body. Punk grabs the arm of Copani and pulls him into the ringpost and both are down and injured. They both continue the fight as they get up, though, trading big rights and left. The referee counts to 10 and both CM Punk and Mark Copani are eliminated from the match by countout. They still are fighting, though, and brawl their way to the back as Ron Killings makes his way to the ring as the final entrant. It’s down to Dustin Rhodes, Steve Corino, Raven, and Ron Killings for the NWA North American Title.

Raven, Steve Corino, and Ron Killings are left now for the NWA North American Title, and we’re done with commercial breaks, we’re here until the end. Raven is down in the corner clutching his neck as Corino has Killings in a hammerlock. Killings is able to reverse it, and send Corino off the ropes and hit him with a clothesline sending him to the mat. Raven takes out Killings’ knee from behind, though, and scrambles over to Corino for the cover, but only gets a 2. Raven tosses Killings to the outside and follows, and sends The Truth into the security railing. Corino looks on from inside the ring as Raven slams Killings down on the protective mats surrounding the ring. He rolls Killings back inside now, and Corino capitalizes with a crucifix armbar. Raven is back in also, and smash Corino with a huge forearm. He covers Killings, but is only able to get a 2 count.

The action goes back and forth for the next few minutes, mostly ground maneuvers and quick bursts of power moves, only to get 2 counts at most. Corino controls most of the action until Killings is able to hit a Jumping Axe Kick on Raven and score the pinfall.

ELIMINATED – Raven by pin (23:28)

We’re down to the final two, as either Ron ‘The Truth’ Killings or ‘The King of Old School’ Steve Corino will leave the Charleston Civic Center as NWA North American Champion. Killings has the momentum at this point, and gets a 2 count after a dragon suplex. Corino slides to the outside and Killings follows, and they brawl outside until the ref reaches 8 on his count. Back on the inside now, and Corino ducks under a clothesline and hits the Old School Lariat, but Killings is able to get a foot on the ropes after a 2 count.

Killings is able to counter an Old School Expulsion attempt with a Truth Conviction, but is unable to make the cover right away. Both men are down, but Killings is able to finally drape an arm over Corino, but for only a 2 count.

I'm going to have a couple changes in this Book This! coming up. I'm going to start using EWR 4.0 for this fed, so the shows might be a little shorter (It allows for 11 segments instead of the 20 or so that I have been using). The ratings and attendance that I have been reporting will change drastically, because I will use the numbers directly from EWR (they're a bit unrealistic at this point, as Raw and Smackdown are drawing ratings around 6.0, and my shows are drawing ratings around 3.75, while my attendance is somewhere around 2,500 instead of the 5,000 I have been making up). I might decide to cut the rating in half but double the attendance to better fit it into my story. I'm still going to add in some things to the shows and write out some matches, so alot of it will look the same. Using EWR will allow me to incorporate some unforseen things, like injuries (one has already happened) and backstage incidents. It will also allow for possible wrestler movement after awhile.

Hope everyone has been enjoying this Book This, I'm trying to make it as entertaining and realistic as possible.

Hey man really enjoying the work you have done. This is what an NWA show should be like with everybody behind the product. Anyways keep up the good work.

HAHAHAHA’s NWA Primetime Review

Tournament Set Up- I like the idea of a triangle match tournament going into Starrcade, you have established your main event. Rhino, Goldberg, Adam “Edge” Copeland, Kurt Angle, RVD and the Giant. I can see any of these guys as NWA World Champion.

NWA North American Title Match- Very solid match, making Punk look like a contender. Mark Copani sets up a feud with Punk hopefully. I’ve always liked Copani, who I think got the shaft by the FED. Glad to see him shinning here.

Triangle Match #1- Very good triangle match with RVD coming off with the Frog Splash for the 1..2..3. I expect Adam Copeland to win the 2nd match now to set up the main for Starrcade.

D-Lo Brown/Copani- Copani continues his push. I like the D-Lo interview setting up that his business with Corino is not dead. Could see maybe a Four way with Punk and Corino at Starrcade.

Tag Team Non-Title- Like the idea of Sabu taking Sonjay Dutt under his wings here. This is turning into a nice little feud building here. The Connection picking up a non-title win easily sets up for a Title Shot in the future.

Rhodes vs. Raven- Basic match for both men. Rhodes over by pin fall. Not really much left to say.

JR. Heavyweight Tournament- Nice match with Chavo winning. Chavo is on his way to Starrcade to face Tajiri, Chavo takes it I bet setting up a feud with Teddy Hart when he comes back. I mean Teddy being hurt is the only reason Chavo is in the tournament to begin with right.

Main Event- Like I said I call it for Copeland, and damn I’m wrong. RVD vs. Goldberg. That is main event Starrcade qulity but I would have never guessed. Very interesting here. Starrcade is shaping up quite nicely.

Over all a very strong outing. Starrcade looking nice as of now. Can't wait until next installment.
