Movie/TV Show Discussion Thread (SPAM VERSION)

I honestly found breaking bad to be overrated, not saying I didnt like it I just didnt find it to be the greatest show in history*. I find it funny you think it felt exactly like breaking bad as someone else said it wasn't. I tend to agree with you it felt similar but not exactly the same, especially the crappy 5 minute of black and white film noir crap that served no purpose other than show the audience it was the future

How did people take Better Call Saul? It feels like Breaking Bad all over again but with a new protagonist: struggling good-guy slowly turns over time... but as we know, not to the extent of Walter. Going to need a few episodes to get settled in though (much like every other television show).

I know I've already said this but I must re-recommend Banshee. Season 3 is about half-way through and they've been absolutely killing it on all fronts. Interesting characters, great storyline and the camera/special effect techniques really drive the show home (they won an Emmy award for it). Season 1 takes a while to pick up the pace (like most shows) but once you get there, it's a kick-ass show. Season 2 and beyond is simply excellent.
The two episodes of Better Call Saul have been awesome. The tone is pretty much like Breaking Bad but Better Call Saul seems a bit more comedic imo. Only two episodes have passed but I think I've "settled in" already. If you've seen Breaking Bad then it'll be impossible for you not to enjoy Better Call Saul.

As for Banshee, I've been meaning to watch that show along with Justified but there's just so many shows that I watch on a daily basis that I can't fit others shows in my schedule. Hopefully when college classes aren't as hectic as they are now, I'll be able to watch Banshee and Justified. Heard nothing but good things about season 3 of Banshee.

1. I will not enjoy better call saul if it follows the same formula as Breaking Bad
2. What if someone didnt enjoy breaking bad?

Breaking Bad was a slow transformation storyline and I understand why people aren't into shows with such pacing. Game of Thrones would be better suited for you, I think. Still a little slow but at least you have multiple stories and characters going at once that something is bound to happen almost every episode.

For me breaking bad got a lot better when Saul came in. I'm already enjoying better Call Saul and I don't think it'll be too much of a slow burner.

I did love the opening scene on the first episode set in the future. Worked so well.

I'm not sure if this is directed at me but if it is

I liked Breaking Bad, just didnt find it to be the greatest show ever like many claim(which can never be determined anyway as its entirely subjective)

I will not enjoy better call saul if its simply the breaking bad formula but applied to Saul's world simply because it isnt original, which is what makes Breaking Bad so good.

If you don't think you'll enjoy it, then don't watch it. Simple. Or you could watch it and tell us what you think instead of just telling us you won't like it without even giving it a try.

ffs I have watched it, then you said its impossible to not enjoy better call saul if you watched Breaking Bad I merely pointed out that i disagree

What do you mean a show that has always been shit had a shit finale?

Its not that it was a shit finale but rather the way they heavily implied that Sheen would return only for Lorre to try and use it as a way to shit on Charlie. At least judging by his vanity card he put up at the end it seemed like he was going to try and shit on Charlie. He tried to make Sheen out to be the villain and while I initially think he was, I do believe Charlie Sheen has tried to clean up his life and this could have been a chance to bury the hatchet but Lorre wanted to use it as a chance to make himself seem the victor.

Had it not been for the hype around the return of Sheen many wouldnt have even bothered watching, or at least fans who jumped off when Charlie 'left' wouldnt have watched, and thats why I dont like it. The two parties should have just said that unfortunately they couldnt come to an agreement over the creative direction of the episode and then Lorre could have written an actual episode that followed the plot of the final season with all the dorky fourth wall breaking jokes he wanted(which tbf weren't that bad at first but went on and on)

And for those that havent seen the Vanity card
"I know a lot of you might be disappointed that you didn' t get to see Charlie Sheen in tonight' s finale. For the record, he was offered a role. Our idea was to have him walk up to the front door in the last scene, ring the doorbell, then turn, look directly into the camera and go off on a maniacal rant about the dangers of drug abuse. He would then explain that these dangers only applied to average people. That he was far from average. He was a ninja warrior from Mars. He was invincible.
And then we would drop a piano on him.
We thought it was funny.
(it isnt)
He didn't. (not suprisingly)
Instead, he wanted us to write a heart warming scene that would set up his return to primetime TV in a new sitcom called The Harpers starring him and Jon Cryer.
We thought that was funny too."
(Funnier than the shit you had in mind and more in line with what fans wanted minus the tv show)

Summertime really brings out some crappy shows. For those contemplating to go see The Brink and the Rock's new show, Ballers, do yourself a favor and don't see it. I'm saving you guys time right now. Both shows are on HBO so it's a bit more over the top for my liking. But trust me, you won't be missing anything if you don't see these shows. So don't do it! :p

Man I really liked Ballers. Think it's going to be a great look at NFL culture. The humor was was on point too I thought. I'm excited for the rest of the season.

Hannibal looks like it may be getting the Deadwood treatment - killed after 3 seasons. Hope that Netflix can take it over for a 4th season at the least.
