Great Kevin Sullivan shoots re:WCW/Benoit/Russo

Bit of background to this, Kevin Sullivan was the head booker of WCW during '96, '97 and '98. This guy booked the nWo "era" than took WWF to school in the ratings for 83 straight weeks and actually did more money than WWF in 1998, the guy is a booking genius. The following are great interviews talking about the Radicalz walk out, Vince Russo's booking run and the Finger Poke of Doom, ignore VKM's brainwashing, learn the truth and enjoy.

I hate posting links but the youtube embedding dosen't work, I don't own these videos, it isn't my youtube channel, I just wanted to share a good shoot. Even if you don't like the guy you have to respect him for what he's done for the buisness and the fact he's still humble and isn't trying to put himself over.

Sullivan is right on one thing Booker T as heel champ vs Goldberg would've been good. He wanted to turn Booker T into the new millennium Flair because Booker had some traits Flair had, well dressed, could cut a serious heel promo, well liked and could basically work with anyone but there where other forces at work.

And yes if that was Vince running the Goldberg character in it's apex there's no way he has Goldberg get beat down like that then lose his streak and belt, it would've happened as close as Sullivan said he wanted it.

the Benoit/Sullivan heat goes way back from when Benoit was with Sullivan`s ex wife Nancy

In the latter stages of WCW...I don`t think there is anything Sullivan could have done to right the ship..

Did they really have "heat" though? I've heard Benoit say Sullivan never took liberties when they worked together and lets be honest, Sullivan was the head booker in those days, if he really wanted to "fuck benoit" why make him a horseman, give him a US title run, put the heavyweight belt on him etc etc? Imo he showed alot more class than I think I could've in his position.

Of course we're just jerking off here, who really knows at the end of the day, but I think he could've saved WCW...I really do. When Russo came in the first time he fucked the product. During Sullivans "second run" the ratings did actually improve. At that time he had no stars really, Hogan was out, Nash was out, Goldberg was out, Macho (I think) was out, but he still improved ratings and started to undo the damage Russo had done.

I watched the "Kevin Sullivan and the death of WCW" shoot recently, he was talking about how his plan was to build, saying "can we compete with vince now? No, but give me 6 months to get kidman over, to get steiner over, to get booker over and in 10 months, we're kicking ass". Apparently this didn't work for Turner Broadcasting, they wanted the quick-fix "big idea" to "save WCW", enter Russo with "new blood vs millionaires club" and down the drain went WCW.
