Games on surpise consoles?

Wade's Public Transit Bomb

Championship Contender
I guess this for the people with more than one system. I happen to have a few ol' skool ones (Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, & PS2) and of course the Wii.

Have you ever played a game and thought something like "This is a great game, but the controls/graphics/etc. of the ______ would make it even better."

One of my favorite games for the PS2 is Okami. I think it would've of mos def been more commercially successful if it had been on the Wii. The main character was relatively quite and likable, the graphics were happy and vivid, and the story was mostly light heart'd and featured a bunch of comedy. The idea of using the analog to draw paint brushes struck me as odd considering it came out the same year the Wii did. Low and behold, a few years later the Wii version came out with nothing new. :disappointed:

Excuse me while I show my age, but I also thought Robo Pit would've made a kick butt Nintendo 64 game. The graphics in the game were relatively close to the simplicity of bold shapes and colors that the Nintendo 64 mostly used. I also think given the ridiculous amount of loading times and lag the game had, it could've really benefited from smoother game play of the Nintendo 64.

Ive always thought Halo would look nice on Ps3. I also thought a Super smash bro's for Psp would be fucking amazing.Just think about it. All those characters coming together on a portable ( even add some sony such as Ratchet and Clank,Bomberman) Im getting light headed just thinking bout it.Awesome thread

I've felt that way often. Back in the day there would be games on the 64 or game boy that I felt could have been great entries on the playstation due to the system's ability to include cinematic scenes. Nowadays I find myself thinking that games on 360 or PS3 could benefit from the Wii's controls to appeal to more people, or that games on Wii do not need that type of control and would be better played with regular controls on the 360 or PS3 because of the systems being better for graphics and music. However, as a game designer myself, I have quite a bit of respect for playing a game in the form it is released in. Those people worked hard on the game (or so we assume) so we should appreciate it for what it is. Good thread though, as it raises some interesting "what if" scenarios.

The first was a cult hit on the Sega Saturn it easily molded flight through combination of both 2D and 3D gameplay and to do something like this the game needed to have excellent controls in order to give the player the full experience. Anyone who plays this game now can clearly see the Saturn's controller just doesn't cut it and Sega knew this so the game came packed with a controller specially designed for the game (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/08/Sega_saturn_analog_controller.jpg). Fans waited for over a decade for a sequel and what happened? We got bad 3D platforming segments, confusing boss battles, and the main reason why the game was a Wii exclusive for the motion controls....terrible controls with the Wii Remote. For years Sonic Team has been unable to deliver a solid title, this game could of been 10x more enjoyable if it had just been made for the 360 or the PS3. It would be awesome to see a third title take advantage of the Kinect though I'm sure Sonic Team in their current state would find some way to make the control horrible.
