Championship Contender
Taking inspiration from an old regular WWF magazine article, I've decided to try and bring 'Fantasy Warfare' to Wrestlezone. Basically, I'll choose two (or more) competitors who never faced each other, talk a bit about them and then pose the question of who would win had they ever fought.

We'll start off with the ultimate big man match....Andre the Giant v Big Show.

1. Andre the Giant

Andre the Giant, or the 'Eighth Wonder of the World' was one of WWE's top stars and briefly held the WWE Championship. In 1993, he became the first inductee into WWE's Hall of Fame and he is perhaps best known for his match with Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 111 where Hogan infamously body slammed him. Here are his (billed) statistics:

Height: 7 ft 4 inches
Weight: 500 lbs (although for the Mania 111 match he was billed as being 525 lbs)

Here are some of the moves Andre performed (many are typical of a big man perfromer):

Big Boot
Bear Hug
Body Slam
Headbutt
Elbow Drop
Variety of Splashes...

Obviously Andre was more of a spectacle than a technical in ring competitior and particularly towards the end of his career he was very limited in what he could do in the ring. Many of his moves were typical of larger men but in kayfabe terms, when a man his size hit an opponent with even a basic move like a bear hug, damage would be done.

These are his accomplishments in WWE:

One time WWE Champion
One time WWE Tag Team Champion with Haku.

Some Key Wins in WWE:

Beat fellow big man, Big John Studd in the $15,000 Body Slam Challenge.
Won a 20 man battle royal at Wrestlemania 11
He was a captain of a team which won at the inaugural Suvivor Series when he pinned Bam Bam Bigelow.
Beat Demolition with Haku to win the tag team championships.
Won WWE title from Hogan in 1988 but 'sold' it to Ted Dibiase...the title would be vacated.

Some Key Losses in WWE:

Defeated by Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 111
Defeated by Hogan and Randy Savage in a tag match with Ted Dibiase at Summerslam 1988
Defeated by Jake Roberts at Wrestlemania V
Defeated by Demolition at Wrestlemania V1

2. The Big Show

The Big Show came to the WWE in 1999 when he debuted at St. Valentine's Day Massacre: In Your House to attack Stone Cold Steve Austin in his cage match with Mr. McMahon. Throughout his WWE career, the Big Show has enjoyed a fairly sustained main event run, generally sitting around the upper mid card region and he has been involved in numerous feuds during his time with the federation.

He was in early feuds with Mankind, Undertaker, Big Boss Man and became WWE Champion at the 1999 Suvivor Series when he pinned Triple H in a triple threat. Simply put, 'Show has feuded with nearly everyone the WWE has had to offer over the past 10 years and still maintains a presence on TV today.

Here are his billed statistics:

Height: 7 ft
Weight: 480 lbs (allow it seems to flucuate all the time!)....so Andre was bigger then.

Here are some of 'Show's moves:

Choke Slam
Showstopper (that leg drop across the face he does)
Colossal Clutch (new submission, camel clutch)
Spear (really dangerous...see the one he did on Evan Bourne!!)
Bear Hug
Elbow Drop
Head Butt
Side Walk Slam
Big Boot

From that list you can see that Show performs some of the moves listed for Andre but some of the others listed for show are obviously in kayfabe terms devasting.

Accomplishments in WWE:

Two time WWE Champion
One time ECW Champion
One time US Champion
Three time Hardcore Champion
Three Time Tag Team Champion

Some Key Wins in WWE:

Beat Triple H and the Rock to become WWE Champion in a thriple threat.
Beat the Rock at No Way Out for a title shot at 'Mania 2000
Part of victorious team at Suvivor Series 2001 (but was first eliminated)
Beat Brock Lesnar to win 2nd WWE title at Suvivor Series 2002
Beat Eddie Guerrero in 2003 at No Mercy to win US title
Formed a successful team with Kane in 05/06 and became tag champion

Some Key Losses in WWE:

Lost WWE title to Triple H on an episode of RAW
Was the first eliminated in the Fatal Four way match at 'Mania 2000
Lost to Akebono in a sumo match at 'Mania 21
Lost to Floyd Mayweather at 'Mania 24
Lost to John Cena numerous times in 2009.

Okay, so I haved tried to give a little information on both men and now I pose the question.....WHO WOULD WIN IN A SINGLES CONTEST BETWEEN ANDRE THE GIANT AND THE BIG SHOW?

I would be inclined to go for the Big Show as he is capable of performing more moves than Andre and is also more mobile than Andre was. Andre will always be remembered as a great big man but I think he would have been defeated had he and Big Show ever locked horns...what does everyone else think?
