Holy crap some classics here!

Rocky IV, much as I love it, can't get my vote here because that was a fight. To me, a "beating" is one sided.

The Sonny beating of Carlo was great. It was so Raw, and exactly what I'd do to a dude who'd beat my sister. Every detail was tremendous, from the Rheingold truck in the background to the kids playing in the busted hydrant. Plus James Caan is bad fucking ass, so he gets points.

The Bar Scene from Bronx Tale was brilliant too. Chazz Palmienteri takes a page out of Scorcese's book by playing a brutal beat down to a song that seems so opposite of what is going on. JoJo the Whale crushes one guy against the bar, and Sonny goes ape shit. "Look at me! I'm the one that did this to you!"

I'm leaning Bronx Tale but I can be swayed.

Best Beating On Film

Sin City (Yellow Guys Face Gets Mulched) - This worked really well. The entire film has a fantasy-style look to it, so I took it for what it was. Nowhere near realistic, which I usually prefer, but it was still quite brutal.

Fight Club (Edward Norton takes out some rage on the blond guy) - That blond guy was Jared Leto, just in case someone didn't realize. Anyhow, yeah, this was some brutal shit. The visuals weren't nearly as important as the sound. You could literally hear this guys face breaking apart. Probably gets my vote.

Casino (Bats and beatings) - Another fantastic beating. Very realistic, as is most violence in a Scorsese film.

Happy Gilmore (Barker beats up his Happy) - Funny as hell, probably my favorite part of this terribly overrated comedy. No one had ever seen Barker in this type of spot, so it worked really well.

Sin City (Rourke entire segment) - Where he takes a beating? I liked every beating in this film, so yeah, this was pretty solid.

Rocky IV (Drago vs Balboa) - A fight, not a beating. Quite possibly the least realistic boxing match in the history of sports films. Not to mention this being the most overrated Rocky movie.

Matrix Reloaded (Neo gets outnumbered by Agents) - This was sweet. I hadn't seen anything like it before, so I was on the edge of my seat.

Eastern Promises (Viggo Mortensen and the sharp end of the spa) - The nudity may bother some people, but I'm not one of them. He has a penis -- deal with it. Anyway, yes, this was incredible. Very realistic, and I was afraid for his safety... as odd as that may sound.

Godfather (Sonny side up? Not for Carlo) - Technically, this wasn't that great. Didn't see much, and it wasn't very graphic. However, after Carlo had beaten the living shit out of his sister, twice, this was something to cheer for. I don't know if I have ever cheered on a film beating as much as I did this one.

A Bronx Tale (Bar Scene) - Solid film, beating wasn't that great.

Shawshank Redemption (Andy gets his Sister Act) - I don't remember what happened here, so I won't comment any further.

The Untouchables (Baseball bats at the ready)
- Very quick, and effective. I was literally surprised when he first whacked the guy. I didn't see it coming, at least not at that exact moment. Too short to gain my vote, though.

Goodfellas (Billy Batts beating... Not that kind of bat) - Anytime we get a low-angle shot of De Niro kicking a guys head in, I'm happy.

Out For Justice (Gino vs. Richie) - Not a great scene, but the beating was deserved. Richie was a scumbag, and made Gino's life hell. Good, solid beating in a shit movie.

Casino (The Pen Scene) - Very funny. I laughed my ass off, as I usually do when Pesci goes nuts. However, it's not even the best beating in that film, so it won't get my vote.

Daniel Day-Lewis headbutting the living shit out of Leo in Gangs of New York is another great option, and might have gotten my vote had it been a nominee.

I picked Rocky IV and while it is a fight, the first half, if not more is a solid beating that Drago dishes out to Balboa. He totally and utterly destroys him, in much the same way he destroys Apollo earlier in the film. The fight is so one-sided, hence why the entire fight is laced Drago getting frustrated that he can't put Rocky away. It's very much inspired by Ali/Foreman, except Drago's a steroid using supervillain. It's brutal, it's nasty, but it's countered with a victory for Rocky.

I have to give this to Pesci's beating in Casino. Joe's character was truly deplorable in this film and would have had no issues in dealing out something this deplorable. That we still feel compassion for him and his brother is the real seller in just how bad this beating and execution is.

I'm voting Sunny's beating on Carlo in Godfather, I've never enjoyed a beating in a film as much as this one.

The ending to Casino with the bats however was pretty damn brutal and probably the most painful-looking beating on the list.

I would say a tie between Drago vs Rocky in Rocky IV and Bob Barker throwin a beating to Happy Gilmore. The fight scene from Rocky IV was epic and the whole movie just got you so pumped up, and the fight in Happy Gilmore was awesome because an old ass Bob Barker kicked Adam Sandler's ass and called him a bitch, priceless....

While all these were great, Bruce Lee against the students in the dojo in Fist Of Fury is another great scene to me when it comes to this category. I realize it's unrealistic as there's like a thousand guys against Bruce but the way Bruce handled all their asses with his kicking, moving & nun-chucks was just simply awesome. It just does not get anybody than Bruce Lee when it comes to beatings.

But from the ones of the list I would go with Rocky - Drago. Seeing clip after clip of these guys just punching each other & knocking each other to that heavy music playing in the background was bone-chilling.

I guess I'm a fan of unrealistic fights from my choices here.

May I also suggest you guys put out a Best Movie Opening Sequence award out.

I voted for Happy Gimore. Not only does it portray the humour of an Adam Sandler movie, it also looks like it hurts. This entire movie was designed to make you laugh and even through the seriousness of a fight you can have laughing be a major role through watching it. It has its unexpected moments and it also invovles Adam Sandler so I think this movie wins it.
