Some of the usual nominees are here (Megan Fox and Nicolas Cage), and I really don't understand all the hate for Dirty Grandpa. It's a harmless stupid comedy, and it's nothing new, but shitting on anything Robert De Niro does is par for the course, because it's not Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Godfather II, Casino, or Taxi Driver.

As far as Jared Leto goes, I think it's another case of something being overhyped too a point, where it'll be damn near impossible to please anyone with high hopes. The Joker is an iconic villain, and after The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger, the bar was raised to unrealistic heights for any expectations.

Ben Affleck was the best version of Batman/Bruce Wayne in years, and Dawn Of Justice wasn't that bad. Disappointing? Yes, but Dawn Of Justice had a few highlights (a promising future for Wonder Woman, Luthor's speech before Doomsday's release, the three-way battle with Doomsday, etc.).

I hated Gods Of Egypt, when I watched it in theaters, but now I accept it for what it is: a generic fantasy epic, loaded with too much CGI, but it's okay, if you're just looking for destructive action sequences, and big one on one fight scenes.

Independence Day: Resurgence is my pick for Worst Film. Overlong, underwhelming, boring, and Jeff Goldblum wasn't enough. Sorry, but if you're going to take the nostalgia route, you need to find a way to work Will Smith into the movie.

A majority of these films, while not great, weren't exactly unwatchable. Razzies are trying too hard to be controversial this year. Where is the godawful films like Norm of the North? Nine Lives? Mother's Day? Ben-Hur? These should be in the Worst Picture category. I don't usually find myself disagreeing with the Razzie list, but this year is just silly. Suicide Squad was an okay film. So was Dawn of Justice if you don't have a hard-on for the comics. Resurgence was a bad sequel, but it was nowhere near as bad as the films I listed.

And Tyler Perry, a man, is being nominated for Worst Actress. What?

Jared Leto had about ten minutes of screentime. That's not a Supporting Actor. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who I had to look up, the guy that played Killer Croc (a horrible racist stereotype), had more screentime and to me ruined the movie more than Leto did. Or hell the bland as hell Joel Kinniman (the army dude) or Jay Hernandez (Diablo) did a by the numbers character. I didn't like Leto's Joker, but it was trying to be different. That and it had big shoes to fill, so people should cut it some slack.

The rest I can agree with, but still several films here seem to be tacked on just because it will get people interested in the Razzies.

WORST ACTOR

Ben Affleck (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice)
Why? He was easily the best thing about that dreadful movie.

Cage for example has maybe 5 minutes on Snowden and even though he cant be proud to his recent work, did fine. Putting him with Eisenberg hoes portrayal of Lex was abysmal and ruins entire movie is strange decision. But hey, its Nick Cage, I am sure he will do something bad to deserve it in future and they needed big name.

Also, not even one for Ghostbusters? We are still gona pretend it doesnt deserve criticism?

Razzies have been a joke that's ran on for too long, and has needed to be put down since around 04/05. They stopped being a legit film criticism in the late 90's and just became a total barf-fest dedicated to making fun of celebrities for no reason (i.e. Affleck being really good in Bats v Supes) while also not nominating legitimately awful shit like Shut In (one tack-on nomination for what was considered to be easily the worst film of the year).

The more I think about it, I have to go with Spidey. Looking at the winners and nominations, I just get the feeling they're being controversial for the sake of being controversial this year, and piling on the wave of negativity and hate for DC starting their own cinematic universe. If we're talking about anticipation, excitement, and the overall critical reception, it's no secret things are not going as planned for DC and Warner Bros. and you also have the belief or conspiracy theories about the critics showing favoritism towards Marvel. Looking at all the nominations for B VS S and Suicide Squad, you just get the feeling they're going for another attempt to spark more "that's ridiculous!" or "oh, come on, man!" reactions.

I have to agree most of the films listed really aren't that bad. It's all supposed to be a joke, but every now and then, truly awful films will make list. Predictability is another problem with The Razzies. It's not too hard to predict the list of films that'll make the 2018 list, because you can almost guarantee spots for Transformers: The Last Knight, Michael Bay, Fifty Shades Darker, xXx: The Return Of Xander Cage, and A Bad Moms Christmas.

All things considered, you could say the Barry L. Bumstead Award and the Razzie Redeemer Award (added to the Razzies in 2014) are the only legitimate awards on the list.
