As usual, the awards for the worst of the worst are announced a day before the Oscar nominations:
Some of the usual nominees are here (Megan Fox and Nicolas Cage), and I really don't understand all the hate for Dirty Grandpa. It's a harmless stupid comedy, and it's nothing new, but shitting on anything Robert De Niro does is par for the course, because it's not Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Godfather II, Casino, or Taxi Driver.
As far as Jared Leto goes, I think it's another case of something being overhyped too a point, where it'll be damn near impossible to please anyone with high hopes. The Joker is an iconic villain, and after The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger, the bar was raised to unrealistic heights for any expectations.
Ben Affleck was the best version of Batman/Bruce Wayne in years, and Dawn Of Justice wasn't that bad. Disappointing? Yes, but Dawn Of Justice had a few highlights (a promising future for Wonder Woman, Luthor's speech before Doomsday's release, the three-way battle with Doomsday, etc.).
I hated Gods Of Egypt, when I watched it in theaters, but now I accept it for what it is: a generic fantasy epic, loaded with too much CGI, but it's okay, if you're just looking for destructive action sequences, and big one on one fight scenes.
Independence Day: Resurgence is my pick for Worst Film. Overlong, underwhelming, boring, and Jeff Goldblum wasn't enough. Sorry, but if you're going to take the nostalgia route, you need to find a way to work Will Smith into the movie.
