Both these lists are a sad reminder of the piss poor selection of films I decided to see in theaters this year. Then again, it seems like a pretty weak year in film in general

Granted I didn't see a lot of films this year, and it wasn't a great year from what I saw, but the 2014 release I liked best was Under the Skin.

Grand Budepest and Lego movie are my favs.

I'll be honest, I've only heard of "The Grand Budapest Hotel" out of all of these.

Nightcrawler has peaked my interest, and I do plan on seeing it.

I've only seen Gone Girl and Interstellar on the list (that one should be on the overrated list if anything). A Most Wanted Man should have made the best list too imo.

I've only seen Gone Girl off that list which I thought was amazing. Then again I'm a big fan of David Fincher so there's that.

I'd like to see Dear White People can someone give me a heads up as to why it's bad/overrated??

I'd say 22 Jump Street is a great film also. The mere fact it's satirising the tropes of uni/college life as well as sequels makes it a fun film all round

I've seen a few films on your list but there is no one on this board that I trust more when it comes to horror movies, perhaps only Mitch comes close. And truth be told, I didn't really fancy The Babadook. But, on your advice, I watched it and absolutely loved it. Something a little bit different absolutely. Really enjoyed it.

I have What We Do In The Shadows downloaded, so it'll watch that tomorrow and get back to you.

Oh, gee, golly, you really caught me off guard. If only I kept some sort list throughout the year. Oh, wait - WAH-BAM!

  1. The Lego Movie ★★★★★
  2. The Guest ★★★★★
  3. Pride ★★★★★
  4. X-Men: Days of Future Past ★★★★
  5. Calvary ★★★★
  6. The Grand Budapest Hotel ★★★★
  7. The Raid 2 ★★★★
  8. Guardians of the Galaxy ★★★★
  9. The Babadook ★★★★
  10. The Wolf of Wall Street ★★★★

A surprise appearance of 12 Years a Slave on my worst list (presented in reverse order because fuck reformatting it). Your films are boring, black Steve McQueen, and this was probably the best one!

  • Frank ★★★
  • 12 Years a Slave ★★★
  • Maps to the Stars ★★
  • Two Days, One Night ★★
  • Captain America: The Winter Soldier ★★
  • Paddington ★★
  • Only Lovers Left Alive ★★
  • Godzilla ★★
  • American Hustle ★★
  • The Wind Rises ★

1. The Guest

It's time: we can stop holding hands and move right onto awkward dry-humping.

I've yet to see the new Hobbit (I might) and Birdman (I will). I think one might be in my bottom ten and one might be in my top ten - guess which.

Fury is probably my number 1. Carried the whole meat in a grinder theme better than Saving Private Ryan or any other war movie. The cast was incredible too. Then again I'm a shameless David Ayer fan after End of Watch.

Calvary is a close second. Any film that makes me feel sympathy for the Catholic church is a good film

All things considered, Interstellar was probably the worst film I've seen this year considering how underwhelming it was.
