Default What will you prefer?

It's pretty much known that the plans for Universal Champion Brock Lesnar include him fighting Braun Strowman for the title at Great Balls Of Fire PPV. Braun Strowman is injured as of now so the plans could always change but I'm going to assume that the match will happen in this year regardless of what PPV it's on.

So, the question is that if the match happens, what result will you prefer?

I would like Braun Strowman to defeat Brock Lesnar at whichever PPV they both meet each other. Also, I won't be preferring a squash. But a competitive match. I know that the chances of Braun Strowman defeating Brock Lesnar are very low but that's what I'll prefer instead of getting beaten or even squashed by Brock Lesnar. If Braun Strowman is squashed by Brock Lesnar, then all the push would seem pointless. Him being built as "Monster Among Men" wouldn't afford a squash at the hands of Brock Lesnar.

Edit: I won't mind Brock defeating Braun in a competitive match and losing in the next match. But I don't think that a squash would be right either way.

I personally prefer the final option because I think it's time for certain elements of the Lesnar formula to be changed. If Braun Strowman and Big Show can put on entertaining and competitive 10-15 minute matches with each other, then I honestly see no earthly reason why Strowman and Lesnar can't do the same. I'm long since tired of seeing Brock Lesnar tear his way through modern stars on the main roster because it's gotten very dull and it's just not doing anyone any sort of favors. Lesnar wasn't part of the Attitude Era, but he's probably the last truly viable major star of the last 20 years in American pro wrestling that can realistically and truly elevate modern stars to higher levels. The problem is that isn't happening nor has it been and if Lesnar doesn't sign a new deal with WWE, then his planned match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania next year will be his last; as a result, the window of opportunity to really use Lesnar's name to elevate some younger guys who can really use it is closing quickly.

Strowman squashing Lesnar isn't realistic considering how Lesnar's been booked for most of the past 4 years and Lesnar squashing Strowman really takes a lot of the wind from Strowman's sails. While I'd prefer seeing Strowman win in a competitive match, I'd settle for him losing in a competitive match because what I'm mostly tired of is watching Lesnar make anyone who wasn't part of the Attitude Era look like chumps who shouldn't be in the ring with him. If Strowman ultimately loses to Lesnar but gives him a good fight, that elevates Strowman's standing and I'd settle for that over him looking like some scrub any ol' day of the week.

Braun Strowman beating Brock Lesnar in a competitive match does more wonders for him than one might realise. Sure, beating Brock for the title is the biggest thing of them all, but I'd argue that competitive matches are by far more successful in building a star than quick squash matches EVEN if it is against established names, like Brock. Sure, the shock value is there, but we have already seen Brock get beaten once this year via a squash. And as the above post says, even if Strowman loses, a competitive match is so much more fulfilling to the fans. Being ever so close does eventually wear off, but for now, and considering the push Strowman has received, that would be okay.

Strowman kicking out of F5's and suplexes would be fun to watch. But hopefully a match between the two ensures that Lesnar has to change his methods. If he does, and he goes back to fighting with more than just a suplex, it would be interesting to see how the fans may become more favourable towards him again. And because of this, I wouldn't mind too much if Lesnar were to win, though I would prefer Strowman. If Lesnar does go through the entire roster until WrestleMania 34, he surely cannot do that without showing us SOMETHING more than suplexes.

Having said all of that, it's somewhat of a shame that they had Goldberg be the one to beat Lesnar is less than two minutes in such a dominant way. Because I actually think, despite Strowman's build, that you could justifiably pull off a similar thing with Strowman. Problem is, we've already seen it, and it wouldn't be as impactful. But can you imagine how crazy the crowd would go if it had been Strowman to first do that to Lesnar? In a purely fantasy situation, I would be happy to see Strowman squash Lesnar in their first encounter, and then graduate onto a proper match for their rematch.

Either way it happens, I just hope it's a Strowman win. Like I've said before, I really wouldn't mind Lesnar staying champion so long as he 1) appears more, and 2) does something else in his matches that differs from what we have seen for what feels like forever. But Strowman is on a major roll and having him as champion and Lesnar doing someone else the favours elsewhere just seems more logical for me.

I could see something similar to Brock/Show at the Rumble happening. Lesnar is aware of Strowman's power so he attacks him before the matach starts. Strowman manages to fight back a bit but ends up not having enough left after the beatdown.

First match ends in a no-contest. Strowman goes head on for Lesnar, it quickly turns into a brawl, Strowman uses weapons in order to get out of Lesnar's way, match is a double DQ, the fight continues and Lesnar ends up trashing Strowman.

Then the build for the rematch is set, with Strowman attacking Lesnar from behind and injuring him. Then he also attacks him before the match. After a hard fought No DQs match or any match with a stipulation, Strowman beats Lesnar.

This whole build is very similar to Taker vs Lesnar from 2002, but it protects Brock and builds Strowman as the guy that took out Lesnar. Lesnar gets his break, comes back and gets back the title in time for Wrestlemania.

EDIT: Strowman also losing to Lesnar in a competitive match also helps him. But I like my drama.

I'd love to see a squash, just so Braun can become the new Brock, but not on the stupid Pay by Appearance that's completely ruined the products every time he holds the strap this decade.

Braun could claim the next big thing and we'd have a legitimate monster run.

unfortunately they'd probably ruin the entire thing and have Roman beat him.

Best way to build the match would be for Brock to do his usual domination. Suplex Braun several times and then F5 him expecting the pin. Have Braun kick out at 2.5 and Brock look shocked. Go for another F5 and Braun resists and begins the comeback. Then gradually have a 15 minute match where Braun takes over, hits his finisher, but Brock kicks out. Brock finally gets another F5 out of a reversal to finish Braun.

Show Braun as capable, but not quite there yet. Going toe to toe with Brock would do that and we know that WWE wants Roman to be the one to dethrone Brock.

Right now with Strowman injury and WWE not really knowing how long he will be out of action, they probably would wait before having that match and even if he comes back really early, i don't think that match will take place at the great balls of fire because they need to close out the reigns/strowman feud before that happens so i see this at best at summerslam.

Having said that, i think you need to book this like just a plan 10 minutes brawl type match we're both guys just beat the living hell out of each others before lesnar finally hit him with not 1, not 2, but 3 F-5 to keep strowman down. Technically the build that match the same you build the reigns/strowman match at fastlane.

I think Braun needs to squash Lesnar.

They built Strowman as this unstoppable force. The guy tipped over a damn ambulance.

Let him squash Lesnar and have Heyman and Lesnar be shocked (similar to when Lesnar was squashed by Goldberg at Survivor Series).

Strowman can play up that he squashed the Beast, and he went running with his tail between his legs. Let him dominate for a few months until Lesnar comes back and finally takes Strowman down and takes the title back.

It allows the WWE to make it's new monster look great, and keeps the big title on Raw on TV instead of in Canada.

Lesnar beating Strowman in a competive match. I really do want Brock to hold the championship until Wrestlemania. But I don't think Roman should be the one to dethrone Brock. It should be someone who the fans really wanna get behind.

I think Shinsuke Nakamura would be the absolute best choice. They've worked well together and I think a main event at Wrestlemania between the two would be exciting for fans.
