Default PTP Tease Potential Break Up?

Just when you thought the tag team division would get better.

Quote:
Titus O'Neil and Darren Young appeared on the WWE App last night and said that they are looking to further their singles careers. Both men had singles matches last night on Raw, as O'Neil lost to Christian while Darren Young lost to Dolph Ziggler.
I like what I see from O'Neil. He has the look, charisma and is better than average on the mic.

Young will be nothing more than jobber material.

I can see this (Young) being the reason why the E would want to break them up. One looks to be holding back the other.

Thoughts?

yeah Darren Young sucks overall he looks too unsure in the ring, has few moves, little charisma. Titus on the other hand looks like he could be a beast. Ezekiel Jackson 2.0. You hit it right on the head, Closet Fan. It will be interesting to see what WWE will do with him.

I believe that Titus O' Neal will pull a Shad and betray Darren Young leading up to a Peanut Butter Crunch on a pole match at Summerslam.

All joking aside, I think Titus will have an entertaining run as a singles competitor. I don't see anything in Black John Cena, but who knows, maybe he can become a successful mid-card heel.

In my eyes, Titus O'Neil has always been the standout talent among the PTPs. He looked really good against Christian last night. One thing that's helping some of these heels look more promising has been the change in how the matches on Raw are booked.

For instance, about a year or so ago, Christian probably would have decimated Titus in a few minutes with Titus getting in mostly basic offense and maybe one significant power move before eating the canvas. We saw it in action again with Fandango giving Orton a good, competitive match after Orton won MITB. Under the prior booking strategy to make Orton look like an uberbeast, he'd have blown through Fandango in a couple of minutes with no problem like he's done with Heath Slater or Jinder Mahal in the past.

As far as how far Titus could go, I don't personally see him going any further than the mid-card. He's only been wrestling for a handful of years, yet he's already 36 years old and hasn't held gold in WWE. Titus is most likely too old to be looked at seriously as a top guy long term. If he'd gotten into wrestling a decade ago, I think he could have had a brighter career outlook.

I wouldn't mind the split. When most people think of the Prime Time Players, they think of Titus and his personality first. If given a singles push, Titus could still act like he does whether it's as a heel or face.

I also find him legitimately hilarious whether he's talking on TV or on WWE Inbox. Yes, he's older but that doesn't mean he still can't do a lot of stuff. R-Truth returned to the WWE in 2008 at 36 (same age as Titus). Yes, I know Truth has been wrestling way longer than Titus, but in the last 5 years Truth won the tag team titles and the US title. He also had a world title feud against John Cena. The fact of the matter is that at any age, you can still get a decent push and have a successful career. For all we know, Titus could get a really good push and still be around for 10 years. I'm not saying he will, but in this day and age it is a possibility.

As for Darren Young, I have no idea what he can become. Maybe he can become a decent midcard heel? Maybe he can pull off a comedy gimmick where he uses his resemblance to Cena as an excuse to dress/talk/act like John Cena? Doesn't mean he has to feud/team with Cena, just something to do.

IF Darren Young came out to WORD LIFE and wearing basketball jerseys, jean shorts, and old school reebok pumps claiming there's a new DOCTOR of THUGANMOICS it would be hysterical. Can't forget the chain either. This could be a good mid-card gimmick. Titus could eventually be a WORLD CHAMP. It's just a matter if he learns to tell a story in the ring. That will come with the right opponents.

They could also pair up Darren w/JTG and dub themselves the CRYME TIME PLAYERS!!! It could be a way to utilize 2 talents that do not get much TV time. While I do like Titus and believe he does have the potential to be a WORLD CHAMP, pair him with a returning Ezekiel Jackson and they could be that POWER DOMINANT face team like the APA or Demolition.

As much as I love PTP, I really wouldn't mind this. Titus is, quite frankly, being held back by Young, and while I don't hate Young per se, he isn't going to move past the midcard at this point. I like the idea of him becoming a Cena parody; let him do his little Charlie Haas thing and push Titus to the MOON! He has the charisma, he's improved leaps and bounds in the ring and is probably the best jobber on the mic right now. He's only 36, and while that is old by WWE proportions, he can still go for at least another 10 years barring injury. That's a solid upper midcard, part time main eventer for a good 5 and a world title contender for the next 5. Awesome investment to me.

Titus O'Neill isn't Main Event material yet, but he's way better than Darren Young. Titus' in-ring mannerisms and mic skills have improved so much recently whilst Darren Young is unfortunately probably as good as he's going to get. I think O'Neill could branch out as a singles wrestler or go into a tag team with someone better than Young.

I don't actually hate the start of this idea, the part of Cryme time Players. I think if they're getting rid of a tag team, they need to replace it with another. And this idea actually makes sense, unlike the typical 'pair the two black guys together' BS some of the posters pull. Which, of course leads to your second part, which boils down to pairing two black guys together, simply because they are black. If the E pulls the plug on PTP, then it's to have one guy get a singles push and the other either to become a jobber or get a new team.
