Ever since Sheamus debuted he has always reminded me a little bit of Test. I know many people believe that when Test was around he deserved an angle where he challenged for a world title, but never really got pushed to the highest level.
Test and Sheamus have a similar finisher, mic skills are probably quite similar and have a similar build, in my opinion. Sheamus obviously has the Irish thing and milk bottle skin going for him, but other than that I don't think there's much difference in ability. So why do you think Sheamus has been pushed to the top of the card, where Test was never pushed to the same degree in his time in the WWE? Maybe you disagree that they are of a similar ability and not similar in anyway at all. This thread is just to provoke a discussion as to why these two wrestlers have been treated differently in there two seperate careers. Or do you just think it's the Triple H factor? Btw. R.I.P Test. He was one of my favourite wrestlers during 1999-2003 |

I understand Test was one of your favorites, but all he amounted to was a very large man. Test had the right amount of claim to a World Title push as Eli Cottonwood, Ezekial Jackson, and Vance Archer did; they were tall guys, and that was there main defining feature. Sheamus isn't my favorite, but the only thing these men share is a bicycle kick. Other than that, this really isn't that close at all. May he rest in peace, but Test was the drizzling shits. Sheamus is better.

I agree with Haiku. Test looked awesome... so does Sheamus. Thats about where the similarities end for me. (aside from both doing a running big boot).
Test was I.C title material at best in my opinion; and I liked the guy! He just lacked charisma and mic skills.. Sheamus on the other hand has alot better mic skills, better in-ring, and deserves to be in the main event. |

sorry. but I see zero resemblance in their careers. Test never held a world title, Test was never entertaining, Tests only good match was with Shane McMahon. Sheamus can wrestle, is a solid character, and has held WWE and WHC Gold already. I could not think of two guys more different who weigh over 260,lbs to be honest

I see what Turnz is saying, and I agree. Sheamus may be a little better in the ring, but I do find him boring and stale, maybe it is just his character, I don't know. Never been high on Sheamus.
To answer the question: You are talking about two different times. Now there are 2 world titles. If they had 2 world titles during Test's time, who knows. However if they did have 2 world titles think of all the big names they had during that time that would have been ahead of Test (IMO)...Rock, Austin, HHH, Taker, Kane, Foley, Angle, Jericho, Big Show etc...I know alot of these guys could be thrown in today, but they were in their prime then and not "part-timers" |

I always liked Test and he had one chance to possibly win the world title and that was in late 1999. HHH could have kept the title at Survivor Series and still married Steph and fought Test at Armageddon for the strap. That was pretty much the only opportunity for him and soon became a way for Trish Stratus to get over in a pretty underrated tag team in T&A. Even though I don't care for Sheamus, he has had great matches with Big Show and Daniel Bryan which is more than Test has.
The only thing Test bests Sheamus in is kicking the shit out of somebody. To this day, I still think Test had the best boot in the business. RVD knows about all it.

Now I will tell you. I always been a fan of test especially from 1999-2003. But in my opinion what killed his career was the makeover angle (New Haircut and Attire) and the "Testacles" Angle that didn't go over too well. Not to mention his run in ECW.
But as for Shaemus, I see similarities as far in size. As far as the kick, Shameus was a Bicycle Kick, and Test had a more Harecore Big Boot. I'll take the Broque Kick anyday from Shaemus. But like a poster said before Shaemus character is stale and bland. I don't see nothing special about him. Not knocking Shaemus or nothing, but Shaemus is a Triple H guy so of course he has benefits that some of the other wrestlers don't have as far as pushes are concerned. And another thing to take into consideration, although Triple H had backstage power during Test Days, Triple H wasn't in the position back then that he's in now. But if Triple was back then was COO or if Test was still employed I don't ever think Test would've been a Triple H guy. Would he get a WHC Title Shot Yeah. But win the title No. So there you have it. Rest In Peace Test. |

I think there are some similarities between Sheamus and Test, but unlike Sheamus, Test didn't had much pull backstage, i'm not saying that is it, but in my opinion, Test had a little bit more talent in the ring, but Sheamus is better on the mic, to me is like comparing Cena to let's say, RVD, RVD is far more talented than Cena in the ring, but not so much on the mic, the same goes between Sheamus and Test, i remember his matches, and most of them were awesome, but unfortunatly for him, he wasn't a butt kisser backstage, so i think that is the main reason he never had a descent push.......

I'm disagreeing with what seems to be the majority here, I think Test was MUCH better than Sheamus is, both in the ring and on the mic. Sheamus's mic skills are non-existent. His promos consist of "Fella, I'm gonna kick your arse fella!" or telling stupid Irish fables. His ring work is sub-par and he only puts on good matches when he works with someone he has good chemistry with. Test put on decent matches with anyone he worked with. And finally, Test's Big Boot was about 37 times more devastating than the Brogue Kick.

I really think the WWE missed out on TEST to a degree! Test was a very athletic big man, could move very well for someone as big as he was. But Poor Test RIP BTW was in the wrong era. Test IMHO could have worked very well with almost anyone on the roster at that time.
His big boot was devastating,so much so it literally looked liked he kicked the head off of someones shoulders. Poor RVD! Sheamus though is a little more polished than test and just a tad more athletic than test was. Sheamus as he has shown, can work well with the best of em. Test IMHO was never given that chance and i think its a shame
