I read a lot of fans on this bitching over the state of the woman's division in the wwe right now and that gave me an idea, why not asked them which era those same fans like the most. So let's get to it and here your options
The thing is this thread is only about the new WWE woman'S title and not about the one that FAbulous Moolah and alundra blaze won. So let's Start with what i like to called the Sable Era (1998-early1999): This is the Era were Sable use to dominate the woman'S division, and that ended wwhen she quit the company in may of 1999 Then We got T&A era (1999-early 2000): This is the era were SEx appeal was more important then actual wrestling: This era was dominates by divas like The Kat And Debra and the title was mostly defended in Bra & Panties MAtches and gravy Bowl matches. The Next era was Wrestling era(late 2001-2008) This era contain had a lot of different woman's come throught it some were model that had a passion for wrestling and wanted to learn to wrestle (Trish Stratus, Victoria, Torrie Wilson, CAndice Michelle,MAria) and also had actual woman's wrestlers (Lita, JAcqueline, Beth Phoenix, Melina, Molly Holly, Gail Kim) and they actually wrestle. This for me was the best era of them all simply because they finally just wrestle and didn'T have to be in some stupid gimmick matches. So now it all up to you guys. |

I chose the wrestling era because (a) the other two were actually one, they were just eye candy (b) the wrestling era showed us that the women can fight and look good. (c) the world was introduced to Trish Stratus! She was not the greatest wrestler but improved through time. And (d) this makes them more legitimate rather then just being there to make people drool.

The non-existent era.
I've never been a fan of women's wrestling. Sure, some can do a good job, but I laugh every time the commercial for the "Raw Fan Nation" with Leila Milani shows up and she says the Divas can do things "sometimes even better" than the men. Granted, it depends on the men and women you're referring to, but 9/10 women wrestlers that I see can't do a simple clothesline correctly and they oversell EVERYTHING, ranging from a pathetic punch/forearm to an incredibly weak kick to the gut (with the standard "OUGH!" noise, hilarious). If we would have more people like Mickie and Melina, I wouldn't hate it as much. And before anyone says it, I'm talking about TNA too. I don't think half of them have the talent that others always praise them for. So I've always been more of a fan of interesting valets and managers. Sunny was the zenith to me, as she was not only gorgeous but she was also an interesting character and oftentimes heavily involved in the storyline. I love sexy women, but if I wanted to get off, I have a girlfriend and porn. I love wrestling, so I don't want to see bad wrestlers no matter what their gender. Fix the division or get rid of it, that's what I say. |

I personally choose the wrestling era, but I would prefer if we went back to the faboulus Mohla and Aludra blaze era. I would prefer that they have women wrestlers wrestle for a ligetament(sic) womens title. If they want to have eye candy then they should just have valet's, or managers. I think that this would work two fold. It would allow them to gain traction with young girls which in a business sense would be great for wwe because the 8-16 year old girls control a huge part of the market, and with the valets or managers they would still have the eye candy to attract the 18-25 young male group as well. Well just my opinon what you all think.

I prefer the wrestling era. Although the women's division is less about the wrestling and more about the looks these days, when there were wrestlers, who could wrestle matches; it was alot more interesting. All the matches these days, are less about the wrestling and more about the looks of the women. Women;s wrestling in general has basically gone down hill in terms of actual wrestling, but it seems to be improving a bit lately with a few of the divas training. Basically, I prefer the wrestling era the best.

The Wrestling Era is by far better. Trish Stratus, Lita, Victoria, Molly Holly and Ivory to name but a fewcould all wrestle, unlike now were we appear to have only two actual female wrestlers, Beth Phoenix & Mickie James.
WWE are trying too hard to make Candice Michelle look like Trish Stratus. Women like Maria, Kelly Kelly, Layla and Michelle McCool willnever win the belt. And as for Victoria, I get the feeling shes coming to the end of her career seeing as how shes wrestling on Smackdown, is wearing two knee braces due to constant knee problems and is now 37 which in WWE is seen as too old to be womens champion ever again. |

There was an era before all of those. WWE had tag women's titles. Anybody remember Rockin' Robin? Moolah was still alive back then I belive. Sherri Martel.
They were even allocated a 10 woman Survivor Series match. That era is best because hardly anybody remembers it. And the women were, for the most part, talented. People go on about how great Trish Stratus was. But that's because most of the posters on this forum appear to have cataracts. |
