Default Wrestlemania 27- The Night the Undertaker character has died

Hi

Just of the back of WM 27, does anyone else agree that the Undertaker character has been weakened?

The match was the best on the card, delivered impeccably (when compared to the other matches), but with out a doubt definitely not the best that those two could have done.

However even though the streak is intact, and that very important..and excellent! tbh I thought if it was ever going to end it would have been last night. But, the way in which the Taker was made to look weak, disheveled, broken..and WWE.com said, and I quote, "As Triple H defiantly walked back up the entrance ramp, Undertaker attempted to stand, but collapsed in a heap on the arena floor. It was a shocking sight. Not only did it remind the WWE Universe that The Deadman is most certainly a mortal, but it made it clear that “The Streak” was nearly ended on this remarkable night"...

the UT is supposed to be immortal? Should he not have been given the change to celebrate his victory and walk out victorious? Did the WWE, make him look like the overall loser, and quite lucky to win?

And if so why? And if you don't think so, well what was WWEs plan in portraying it in such a way? And finally why was he attended to by emts, and wheeled out..and not the druids carry him out/put into a casket..would it not have fitted the character better?

Just a few thoughts and questions to pose to the IWC..

I think they're trying to plant doubt into peoples mind for the next Wrestlemania match *already* but hasn't Taker been significantly weaker for some time now? I mean the whole Taker Vs Kane angle made taker look very defeatable

You bring up a good point. But I believe overall, the WWE wanted to do this to make it seem impossible to beat The Undertaker at Wrestlemania. No matter how close you come, it's not going to happen. The last couple of years, Shawn Michaels came close. This year, Triple H came that much closer. Next year, whoever faces The Undertaker may come even closer. Undertaker is becoming weaker and weaker each Wrestlemania and maybe next year the WWE might play off of him being weak a bit. The WWE has been making him seem a bit humanized as of late and I think it's a great way for Undertaker to go out in a year or two.

I honestly didn't know if he was legit hurt or not. I had my doubts, but he looked pretty concussed at some points. Especially when he fell out of the ring and Triple H started looking legit concerned and his backstage politician started kicking in. But McCool looked pretty cool during her match right afterwards so it was probably a work.

Maybe this is just him retiring. Or just a reason to have him out for the next few months like he's been doing the past few years after Mania.

RANDOM NOTE- I love tacos.

To be honest with you, I think this is a good thing.

They are stearing Undertaker away from the "Supernatural, Deadman" gimmick, and turning him into more of a cowboy/Outlaw type of character. It's hard to sell a "Zombie" type of character to this generation of WWE fan's, making him more human is the right thing to do at this point. He's Still the Undertaker, but he's not "Indestructible"

I like it like That.

Yeeeeah, brutha.

I think what they did at WM27 was the smartest thing they've done with Taker since they resurrected the Deadman character.

Taker's streak is still alive. That's great. No one should take that from him, especially not another wrestler about ready to call it quits in the ring. At the same time, they made Taker look very human. What used to be a for-sure thing at every WM - Taker winning - is now questionable at best.

Taker will probably retire without losing at a WM, but they did a hell of a job setting up a whole lot of doubt for the next few years.

The match was as solid as they come. No high-flying. Definitely not a quick paced match. Just two Superstars telling a story in the ring. They had me extremely emotionally invested, even moreso than the two HBK matches. I thought this was it for The Undertaker. Great match, and certainly better than anything else in this year's mediocre WrestleMania.

Thats the beauty of the match. It was made to show that its going to take a lot more that all of that to put down Undertaker. WM is where EVERY wrestler comes alive for one night in the sense that they will not quit. Taker showed that last night. EVERYONE wants to win at WM.

He has faced all of those guys seperately...just not at WM. He had a HUGE program with Austin back in the late 90's leading into a match at Summerslam (I believe).

i ave t disagree with the previous poster. ut has beat hogan in his prime. granted it was after wm 7 and not wm 1-3 prime but he has at survivor series and for the title i might add. as for the taker at wm 27. the man is in his 40s and went a solid 30 minuites no holds barred with hhh who may still be in his prime and beat him. you try taking a few chairs shots right at the bell and see how long u would last right after that, let alone do a half hour solid match. yea he "broke character" by colapsing, but damn, he is a normal man portraying a character, give him some credit. of course he was gonna be winded and having trouble standing. jus saying it didnt make him look weak, it made him look in my opinion even better cause it was more believable as a person and not some kinda actuall unstoppable zombie deadman. kudos for another great match undertaker.

You know, I think the idea of having the druids come out and place him into a tomb of some sort would have been a great end to the streak. I mean, the streak stays in tact, but it puts him in the position to not come back next year if he doesnt want to. I mean, if he decided to come back next year that would just be another UT reemergence, but no one would be upset at seeing him not come back had they played it better with him going out this time. It was an epic match with an epic ending. From the wrestling to the announce team to the intro's...(though i was a little dissapointed with Takers intro...i was looking for something a little more elaborate i guess..) but yeah everything was great. I just would have liked to see him kinda go out a little more dramatically.
