HBO is filthy in some of their programming. I just watch an episode of GoT where the camera completely stayed with a shot of a guy getting his skull cleanly cut from his face. Yes Sopranos was cutting edge but it was really just The Godfather and Goodfellas brought to a small screen with more sprinkled in family drama.

You may also want to consider your own age and maturity in the late nineties. What I thought was so amazing, my father thought was just pretty good. As we age, we mature and we get nostalgic for when things were new to us. Those things were not necessarily better they just happened to hit us at the right time.

You should give GoT a chance. I also think you would laugh your ass off at John Oliver even if you don't agree with his politics.

If it means that John Oliver is an entertaining person despite his politics, then I will give him a free pass from criticism. As long as he can remain as entertaining as ever, then I believe John Oliver can do no wrong, and that's all that will matter to me. In fact, I have a few relatives who are into the Game of Thrones scene, and for the last several years, it has become a trend for most people to get hooked into GoT.

Thanks for the chance to help me embrace Game Of Thrones as a TV show and one of the best things to even happen on TV in the modern era. That'll help me hopefully see modern TV in a new positive light. Anyway, I'm off to play Gex 64:Enter the Gecko on my Nintendo 64 console, so I'll hopefully get to talk some enjoyable posts we can think of together.

Not to be a curmudgeon like Kobe Bryant, but such a better time. Waxing nostalgic is all we can do. Everyone seemed so happy. Clinton was president, The Simpsons were still funny, "Law and Order" was about to enter it's prime, "Seinfeld" was nearing the end, the Denver Broncos were about to win their first Super Bowl, music was better. For us in our late twenties, we know a world where it was rare to be on the internet, and not live under the social media scrutiny. That pre-9/11 world, before we let paranoia and fear take over us. We didn't let useless low lives become famous and if we did, they faded off into obscurity. We live in a Kardashian-influenced world, where in any other decade they would've been forgotten about, but in today's society, they are seen as the hierarchy. It's a strange world now, where when it looks like we are progressing socially, but then we regress into ugliness and hatred. I'm optimistic that we can change for the better and stop being offended by every single thing that happens.

If WrestleZone existed in the 1980s or the 1990s, I would've been a well respected poster and forum member, but unfortunately, I never had the benefit of WrestleZone Forums in the 1990s so WrestleZone Forums existed at a time when 9/11 was still a fresh event back in the early 2000s. So my overall point is that I'd like things to return to the 1990s when people were strong enough for everything, but I know my pleas fall on deaf ears anyway. Happy future WrestleZone, and I wish everyone a Happy February, and soon to come, Valentine's Day.

I'm not sure what time you are referring to. Just the 90's? Paranoia and fear are not new. Music was better to us because it is what we grew up with. Doesn't mean it actually is better.

The US became fixated on OJ and his trial. A low life. Became probably even more famous during his trial. Stupid and/or ignorant people let him off. That is not what I would call fading into obscurity.

Kardashians don't really have influence over anything important. Not sure what hierarchy they are "seen" as.

Progress has always and will always be met with resistance. A lot of people are stupid. This isn't strange or new. Slaves didn't become free overnight. A lot of people fought that and continue to do so.

You joined in 2014. What does 9/11 have to do with you? Are you saying you are disliked because of the irrational fear of Muslims after 9/11?

This is a really odd form of trolling or whatever it is that you are doing.

9/11 was when everyone in the world was able to carry cups and cutlery on the plane without any issues. That was, until Osama Bin Laden came along and attacked the World Trade Center plus people. I know more about 9/11, but Obama did manage to put a stop to Osama several years ago though.

And no, it's not the irrational fear of Muslims post-9/11. It's more to do with the fact that airport officials and authority figures no longer allow you to bring aboard cutlery to plane trips, whether it's Domestic/Regional or International/Overseas travels, so people stopped trusting each other.

And as for the Kardashian Family, the hierarchy the Kardashian Family are seen as, they are looked at by many people as The Gold Standard for Role Models to idolize. Nobody idolized O.J. Simpson for good reason, because he caused Nicole Brown's demise, and the disgraced former NFL running back from the 1960s/1970s NFL era threw away his retirement earnings for prison. The late Johnnie Cochran used the Chewbacca defense, and that was the biggest factor in Simpson being scot-free. Cochran's Chewbacca Defense was parodied on TV shows for celebrity cameos when he was still around.

The Kardashians are just rich people who think they're better than everyone. However, not all of the Kardashian sisters are bad. Khloe Kardashian seems more laid-back than Kourtney and especially more so than Kim. Kim's the more fame-hungry person. Khloe was once married to former NBA player Lamar Odom for several years before she moved on to current Rockets' superstar James Harden.

Then again, it all depends on personal tastes since we have different interests, likes and dislikes, plus hobbies too of course.

What exactly is the discussion here now? Should we compare two murderous dipshits, go on long tirades about how old stuff is so much cooler than new stuff, or how Eternal's thread title was changed to reflect how close all this is to being closed? I'm not even sure anymore, so I'm gonna spit fire this.

We should fear white boys with bowl cuts more than refugees. You're looking at the past with rose-tinted glasses on and that's called the Golden Age Syndrome. I don't know why this thread hasn't closed yet due to your own desire to turn threads into this weird political thing. This is the Symposium, not the bar. So eh, keep rocking it for as long as you can, I guess. Idk. It's Saturday and I'm watching Rick and Morty with Fireball in one hand and the keyboard in the other. Spam? Idk. The country's gotten weird and when the going gets weird the weird turn pro.

Spidey, I don't associate with cliques. I operate as a Lone Wolf rather than joining up with cliques.

Anyway, I prefer South Park over Rick and Morty. Even after 20+ seasons, South Park is still going on strong whereas The Simpsons and Family Guy are in decline. In the case of The Simpsons, they used to be multi-dimensional back in the late 1980s to the early 1990s before the show became all about one-dimensional trivial gags and celebrity cameos. Why Family Guy declined? I think Seth MacFarlane is more devoted to working on American Dad so he's half baking Family Guy in favor of his latest show.

You should smoke a joint and watch Harold and Kumar escape from Gunatanamo Bay.

What's Harold and Kumar escape from Gunatanamo Bay all about? It's from 2008, so it's okay. Tell me more about your experience watching the whole show. I am not into smoking, whether it's cigarettes, joints, cigars, marijuana and dope, any other kind of smoking outlet. Especially cigarettes because they're harmful to the body in my personal opinion, although I support everyone's right to decide for themselves to choose whether they want to smoke or not.

Yes, some measures taken were ridiculous but it is to prevent 9/11 from happening again. If I have to be inconvenienced for 9/11 to not happen again, fine.

But let me get this straight. You are disliked on this internet forum because you cannot bring a cup on a plane due to 9/11. Is that right?

Yeah, no one idolized OJ. I bet not even 12 people idolized him. I bet if you took any 12 people in the US at that time, they would have said OJ is guilty.

Cochran didn't do crap. A celebrity was on trial and people are stupid. A giraffe could have been OJ's lawyer and that jury still would have let him go.

Again, OJ became more famous after becoming a low life. That is the point I was arguing as you said we didn't let this happen in the 90's.

What does this have to do with anything?
